 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

I really want to preorder the bluray Toradora set but I own the series on DVD already and I'm not a fan of double dipping (I would own the DVD version twice).

Why don't you just not own the dvds anymore. I am sure someone would buy the dvds for some sort of price greater than 5 cents but less than 2 billion (facebook) dollars o.o;

I am tempted to preorder myself, but that's a lot of money for a series I thought was only ok >.>;

but i really want nisA to do more dubs as they have a number of series I actaully really would like to own (and in general I don't buy series that don't have dubs :/)

I stand corrected, I guess the episodes were 40 minutes.  I bought it from Vudu (since I got a bunch of credits for cheap, and was going to watch it in english anyway)  Also, I wish that both NIS would dub their shows, and would not charge $70 for part of a series.  I'd like to see Kimi Ni Todoke in english.

Actually common with GoHastings. I have ordered three different Part/Volume 1 LE sets Used from them and have gotten the whole series every time.,

It's hit or miss with me, so it's not all that common.

Just common with you. ;P

Sometimes I don't even get the LE box, and they just send me the blu-ray case, so it's based more on luck than Hastings reliability on shipping the wrong items to you.

It's based on the person who trades them, so varies quite a bit.

I've probably had better luck ordering off Amazon from Amazon fulfilled sellers with the Part/Volume LE's arriving with both parts than I do on Hastings. :*(

I just wanna say that after looking at my massive backlog of anime (not quite like squares) and most of it still sealed about 75% im gonna start up RUNE SOLDIER!!!!

I need help from you guys.

If it worth picking up the tenjho tenge collection for $60? Is it on bluray yet?

I can also get a set of 4 DVDS called "air"?
only if you need a reason to visit a therapist for unresolved issues >.>;

quality of the series aside it seems to be going for $90 so if you really want it in your collection that isn't a bad price... personally I would just watch the opening on youtube... and call it good from there :p (the series isn't actually horrible.... just the end of the ride is..... so very bad.... easily the top of my worst anime endings ever list @_@... especially when you factor in the ovas @_@ )

As for Air... it's an ok series (Gao) but it's only $10 on amazon if you want it (gao gao gao gao gao gao gao >.>)

warning... the series may make you say Gao (the sound a dinosaur makes >.>).... or... twitch and punch anyone saying gao.... at least it's only one character in Air that I remember having a catch phrase... unlike kanon 2006 where half the cast has brain damage and has to end anything they say with a random word or phrase @__________________________________@ If you watched kanon 2006 and liked it you will likely enjoy air... though I would just say skip them both and watch clannad.

If you're looking for something similar you should get Kenichi, but the difference is that Kenichi is incredibly awesome. :3
kenichi is surprisingly fun... I didn't go into that one with much expectations but I enjoyed the ride... I should give that a watch again at some point... maybe I will buy the dvds soon since they are only $30 per season (each season being 26 episodes)

Season 1 and 2 of Kenichi are only about $30 on amazon, right now (1 is 30, and 2 is 32, look for the classics line).  Also, I kind of actually enjoyed Tenjo Tenge.  It wasn't amazing by ANY standard, but it was a decent ride.  Granted, I didn't pay for it, a friend bought it, so I got to see it for free.  But, I agree Kenichi is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more worth your time.  Not only would you get more episodes for your money, but the show itself is a lot better.

Tenjo Tenge had an awesome theme song. That's about all the positives I can say about it.

Air is an awesome drama though. The movie is crap.

Man, SecondSpin is slipping. Ordered Last Exile Part 1 LE. Not only was there no artbox, but no Blu-rays either! Somebody put the coverart and DVDs in a 2-disc Blu-ray case and traded it in.

Hoo boy, you're not kidding--my order of Tiger & Bunny Part 1 (Blu-ray) & Place to Place: Complete Collection (DVD) arrived today, and...well...

The bad news: I didn't get Place to Place. :cry:

The good (?) news: SecondSpin apparently labeled Penguindrum Collection 2 (Blu-ray) as Place to Place (DVD)! :shock: Did I get a better product...? :whistle2:k I've heard good things about Penguindrum's quality, but I've also heard bad things about Sentai's subtitles...

If memory serves right, wasn't the ending to TT basically..."lets go fight the final boss...THE END"?

Personally Ikkitousen is better, doesn't matter what series, they are all essentially the same. I might take some flak for it, but i really liked Majikoi. Good amount of comedy and pretty good action.

I'd say so. Penguindrum is great, though Sentai's release isn't optimal.

After the runaround I had with ST:TNG season 2, these stories have me nervous about my order of seasons 3-5. I really just want to get them with the proper discs and slipcovers so that I can finally be all square with them.

it's been a while for me.

as far as I remember it was
lets go fight the final boss by setting up a tournament and making a big deal about this whole thing and end it... then release some OVAs that cover the first round of the tournament and make an even bigger deal about stuff and END IT AGAIN @_@

either way I can't think of many other shows that basically stop in the middle of the arc (fairy tale comes to mind :p) let alone shows that give you the big SCREW YOU twice over like that one does @_@ I mean there are plenty of shows that are open ended at the end, and have unresolved stuff, it's the nature of anime based on ongoing manga... but I can't remember any that are so abrupt, especially after wasting like 5 episodes before the end little bit on mostly pointless stuff...
yay flashbacks.
