Watching Internet drama unfold is like being at a freak circus sideshow. It's base, vile entertainment at its worst, but you just can't look away.

So, what do I want for my 1000th game on Steam? With various games sitting in my inventory as well as some unredeemed keys, I technically have well over 1000 already, but only 999 are in my Steam library right now and I suppose I should make number 1000 a good one.
I'd be happy to gift you Bad Rats.

RAGE moar bro. D3 is a different game than you remember. Try it again without RoS even.

Hitman Abs was a long game with many ways to complete the missions. I have more time and achievements in it than any steam friends, last I checked. Twice as many hours as you and more achieves, including Silent Assassin, Information is Power, Jack of All Trades, and Grand Master. I'm only a few social/contracts achieves from perfecting it... hmm. And there is more campaign stuff/non-steam 'chieves I haven't done.

I feel that people who complain that "Lara becomes a stone-cold killer too fast to suit me." haven't gone to grad school yet, and thus don't have the shared experience to relate to.

It's good. But the only thing I recommend to everyone is that they go away and leave me alone.
I loved the new Tomb Raider. I think a lot of people hate it because it has Lara Croft pre breast augmentation surgery.

if only this had been in the recent Star Wars movies, maybe they wouldn't have sucked so bad.

interesting, did a bing search for burger fighting nazis and this same picture was returned.

I love Avril. Not even sorry.
same here, would go into more details, but don't want to be silenced again.

I almost broked my computer from spitting out water after reading the top Bad Rats review. That person is my hero.
that was fuck ing hilarious, way better than my lame ass review for it.

Did they e-mail you the key for the beta? Or did they send it over Steam or something? I didn't get anything over Steam, but I haven't checked my crap-collecting e-mail.
they sent mine UPS, did you check under your flowerpot?

I'm in the same boat. Funny thing is, the Legendary Edition (when on sale) adds up to be less than the individual DLCs.
that's not funny at all

Thanks. Got in on this for real this time thanks to my bro Spoder. I probably should have posted this after I bought the set like 2 hours ago though.. Woops. ^^;

Thanks for posting. (I'm at my like quota again so I can't just like your post and shut the fuck up).

Wow... just got to the part in FC3 where you kill Vas.  That part and the stuff right before... the plot just went from laughably unrealistic to waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay 2derp4u incomprehensible nonsense.  Think I should have just bought FC2 instead.

I know right? You kill the bad guy? Completely ruined it for me, I would have never expected that.
Alright, fair enough, maybe some people thought he'd been around for FC4? Or that he'd kill you instead by the end? I dunno, I just don't like ruining plot details for people.

What can I say? I'm dedicated to my craft. Credit goes to Ashes for inspiring me.

Also, someone tell me I'm not alone in remembering Secret Squirrel so I stop feeling old.
My DVR is full of 2 Stupid Dogs and Secret Squirrel episodes. Of course, I'm old, so this may not help you.

I feel like I need to play Diablo 2 since that's routinely touted as the pinnacle of the genre, from what I've read. It's just, I haven't played much of the genre, and from what I have played (Torchilight 2), although it's entertaining, it's not my favorite, either. I feel like if I bought it it'd sit in my backlog forever.
I bought Diablo 2 after playing Titan Quest and Torchlight 1. It completely failed to grab me. Coming at the genre backwards, I could see why some of the later innovations were well-received; but the big thing keeping me away from it was the graphics. 800x600 just doesn't look good on a 1920x1200 monitor.

If you can find it super-cheap somewhere, it's worth trying out just to say you've played it. And who knows, you may like it. But I have no intentions of going back to finish it. There are plenty of other, newer, better ARPGs out there. Path of Exile does the dirty, gritty, broken world art style very well; Marvel Heroes does the fast-paced comic-booky explosionland thing well. Both are free, and free from P2W restrictions.

Thank you good, sir. Got it ordered. Since I've completely blow up the 25 dollar complete pack (while on sale) for myself now I wonder if I should look at more of the Valve sale on Gamefly. (I have gotten Portal, Team Fortress 2, and Half-Life 2 for free, and paid for the L4D(s))

I loved the new Tomb Raider. I think a lot of people hate it because it has Lara Croft pre breast augmentation surgery.
Honestly, her bust line has nothing to do with hate/dislike for the game... (and also there's nothing wrong with her preTR 2013 breast size. It works well on the stylized female form they had. It would not have looked right on a realistic model.)

The hate comes from the fact that its a poor Tomb Raider game... Note the use of the words "Tomb Raider Game" as there is nothing wrong with the current TR game outside of the misuse of the name attracted to it.

A) There are no Tombs. There are no real puzzles (only one of the side challenge rooms has any challenge and its only because of the timing needed to complete it), secrets are nonexistent (a cow bell goes off anytime you approach one of these challenge rooms so even the blind cannot miss them... I would go with the unobservant... but really how do you miss all the chalk scrawled on the walls next to these caves?), and there really is no sense at anytime that you are the first human to explore these areas since a bygone time.

B) "Real" TR games are 80% (might be a bit on the low side, to be honest, and the early TR games its extremely low) about exploration/platforming/puzzles and the rest is about combat... This game is easily the reverse.

Uncharted was always quickly (and wrongly) compared to the TR series... Even the early Uncharted games where exploration/puzzles light. The puzzles where simple story related but they where never meant to stop you from advancing and make you think. (Really, a far better comparison to Uncharted is the Gears of War series... but that's getting off topic.) but, now, the TR reboot as easy comparison to Uncharted.

Is mimicking Uncharted a bad thing? No, not really. Uncharted is a hell of a series and the TR games could (and did) learn allot from them... From framing a better narrative, from integrating other characters into Lara's experience, to being a cinematic spectacle, etc... But I think a title change/swap was in order. Lara Croft and Tomb Raider are synonymous with each other. What would have been wrong with it being called Lara Croft: Subtitle Here (A Survivor is Born, The Lost Island, etc) with the sequels being called Lara Croft 2: The Next Subtitle?

And before you think... "Inmate that's silly! Stop splinting so many damn hairs!" stop and consider title they did go with... Tomb Raider. (Like nothing has come before it...)

Anyhow, for those who would rather just look at pictures instead of reading... A simple and complete comparison between the first TR and the reboot:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEN5obhFRj4

Note: In the first you did kill a fair amount of wildlife... but even when added its still a hell of allot lower bodycount.

So in the end... TR 2013 was a good to great game... but not a good TR game.

Didn't they try to do something like that already with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light?

EDIT:

Oh, and thanks for sharing the excellent video.

I can't disagree with most of what you said, even though I really enjoyed the game, but... there are tombs, and in those tombs are puzzles. Granted they aren't extremely complicated puzzles, but there were times where I had to sit there for minute, think, do some trial and error, etc.

The tombs just aren't a part of the main story, besides the very first one. They're optional, but they're there...

Didn't they try to do something like that already with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light?

EDIT:

Oh, and thanks for sharing the excellent video.
Why yes they did... :) They didn't view it as a proper TR game.

I completely every challenge room in under 30 seconds minus the second one... Which dealt with timing but I certainly knew what needed to be done.

All that's a far cry from entire levels being a single puzzle... Like seen in previous and proper TR games.

They're still tombs though. I've never even heard them called "challenge rooms" until you said it.

As for how fast you completed em...

This whole conversation with you...
I think he's technically right. There are technically tombs, but they're definitely underwhelming in comparison to older ones, so your point still stands. Hell, the only singleplayer DLC is called Tomb of the Lost Adventurer, too bad it's short as shit.

Just curious, but how do you plan to distribute these games after they get greenlit/released?
Good question. I guess he's going to friend everyone on Steam who voted and posted in the comments?

Probably simplest would be to use steam openid to create login page and then check if user is member of group.

Then show keys that user is entitled to.

That's how I would do it anyway. :p

Is it wrong that I wish this was a real game and not an April Fool's joke?

I think that whole thing is going to be a big cluster once those indie devs realize they don't have a good process in place to verify who joined the group when and who voted. They whole 'comment and let us know you voted' thing is insane and poorly thought out. They will have to go through thousands of requests manually. And some people were confused about where to post or maybe didn't post at all.

If these sorts of promotions are to continue they really need a better system because as it stands now it's a mess. The devs may not have the time to sit through all the manual requests. If so it's going to piss people off and look like a scam to them, which is actually bad PR for them.

To be honest the whole thing is really seedy. I did it anyway because free games, but I feel dirty about it. While not against the rules it is certainly an exploit of the Greenlight system. It's also a lame way to get people to join the group just for sheer numbers when the vast majority will likely not participate or care about the group at all beyond (maybe) getting free games out of it.

This. I definitely felt dirty doing it, even though I try to only do this with games I actually think look good (but as I've said before, I probably cut the game a lot of slack if I'm getting it for free). I don't like it, but I realize I'm part of the problem here. I still don't get the point of the group other than to give members free stuff just because? If I was feeling particularly paranoid, I would say that maybe the group is recruiting/doing these promos so it has enough members to more or less instantly get a game into the top 100, making it a personal army for devs that want to get their game through Greenlight to use (by offering free keys/giveaways and such).

Not that I'm a particularly paranoid person or anything. :bouncy:

I just bought a GoDaddy domain for $8 to get one of the Go-Daddy girls to show up at my house.

Someone... help me, I'm so lonely..
Edited for truth.

[customspoiler=?]You my friend, have a problem. But considering I used to spend real money on fucking mesos back when they were worth something, and on NX to get drops from the MTS Exchange, I feel your pain. $8 for 20,000 NX isn't that bad. You should make a website for shits and giggles. Put up some ads and maybe you can get some of your money back? If you're feeling particularly scummy, you can even post da booty. [/customspoiler]

Just realized mesos is a play on the word pesos. Wow, that took me far too many years to realize.

I've spoke with the developers and we know full well what we're getting into. The devs won't be going through requests manually either.

You'll get your free games, don't you worry. I'll make sure you're the first one to get a key ;)

So Mr. Fishy tweeted today that he was resuming work on Fez 2. Could be a joke, could not be. We'll see. If it's a joke, it's kind of a dick move to his fans, but I wouldn't put it past him.

It's a dick move either way, but I wouldn't put it past him either. It's hard for me to have much sympathy for this guy. He complains about people giving him crap about his absurdly-popular game because he made stupid comments about a PC port, which he later had to walk back because he wanted the money from the PC gamer market, and then he petulantly quits working on the sequel because his feelings got hurt on Twitter. That's the act of a child not a grown man. Maybe I should go watch Indie Game: The Movie and I'll feel more like Phil Fish is an eccentric, sad, misunderstood genius, but I rather doubt it.

New Bundlestars bundle is live right over here.

$3.99 gets you:

Jagged Alliance Collection

Tank Operations - European Campaign

Tropico 3 Gold

Alien Spidy + DLC

Sine Mora

SkyDrift

Disciples III: Resurrection

Dollar Dash + DLC

Dungeons - Steam Special Edition + DLC
Too many repeats. I think all I'm interested in is Dungeons + DLC.

It actually makes him look worse. The Meat Boy devs were the only likeable people in that movie, imo, and I think I only remember liking one of them.

Haha, the name of it is actually Bandits Steam Bundle 1. Like they specifically made sure to get Steam keys this time after the bitching about the lack of Steam keys we did in the thread for their last bundle. Gotta respect them for taking feedback at least, albeit in the funniest way.

"pls buy dis time. theres steem keys, u like steem keys rite?"

I'd probably get it if I didn't have Kairo already.. twice.

Too many repeats. I think all I'm interested in is Dungeons + DLC.
Looks like being a newb pays off yet again! I have none of these (on PC, I have Skydrift and Sine Mora on 360). Looks like I lucked out too, I just redeemed a code for the Dark Lord standalone thing I got from a nice CAG the other day, and was like "Shit, the Gold edition with the original and its DLCs was only $10 more, maybe I should have waited for a sale", so I'm right there with you with wanting to finish the set.

Didn't notice Tropico 3 in SecretSquirrel's post, would be nice since I only own #4 for Xbox. Hmm.

I haven't seen that movie, but Tommy Refenes (the guy who did most of the coding for Super Meat Boy) is a massive toolbag. I've seen very little of Edmund McMillen (creator/artist/etc. for SMB) outside of his actual work, but it seems like he's not nearly as bad as a lot of other "big name" indie devs.
