This game is pretty fantastic. It's technically 'f2p', but really it's just a demo with a $10 'full unlock' (which makes me happy, I wish all f2p games did this).

It's based on the Badman/NHA universe (and a native, improved version of Yu-Nama: The Puzzle on PSM from what i understand), but far easier to just jump into and play -- it's a match 3 puzzler with some nice quirks. You're constantly being attacked by adventurers, and every time you match 3 units you unleash one of the matched monsters to fight the adventurer (multiplied by your current combo, so you can unleash a ton if you're playing well). That match also leaves one square of the next higher evolution of monster, to use in a later match. There's a lot more going on, but it's both easy to learn and keeps the game interesting.

When you defeat adventurers, you can either put them to work in your mines or use them to level up your monsters. Monster evolution is a fun and addictive side game (level them up, evolve them to a new type of monster, etc). Even watching your captives mine is fun, as they dig up lewt and other goodies (you don't need to watch them, you can leave them be and just visit occasionally to get your lewt).

Viewed as a $10 game rather than a f2p, I'd say it's worth picking up if these types of games are your thing. I bought it. The free download gives you 8 'tries', and they recharge over time... but really, really slowly. It's enough to get a sense of the game but I couldn't imagine playing it that way. (It's a far slower rate than, say, Montezuma's recharge rate).

Yeah, the recharge rate is 1 every 8 hours/3 per day. It's pretty bad since each level is done in under 2 minutes so far. I'd probably buy the unlock if there was some kind of discount on it, but for now I'm playing three levels a day. Maybe I'll be through the game before there's a discount, that will teach them.

wow, I didn't realize the download queue for ps4 on the web store actually updated in real time.  it switched from waiting to downloading while I was making that stupid photoshop.  that's kinda neat.

anyways, guess I should finally start doing some work today.

 
I thought the store updated yesterday. Frisky was getting hot and heavy with Octodad, if What's New is to be believed.

I wonder what the deal is with the web store queue and my PS3- the web store queue says I have over 100 items in my download queue, but most (if not all) of the items have already been downloaded to my PS3. It's annoying!

I wish I was fine with it. Drives me crazy. I don't mind supporting the game, though, and $10 was (at the very top end of) reasonable.

I bought Demon Gaze physical, but through Newegg, which means I'll get it someday, eventually. When it arrives I'll give feedback on it. Seems to be a solid dungeon crawler.

Wow, thanks- that totally explains it! My launch/fat 60GB PS3 YLOD'd on me for the second time a year and a half ago, so I never deactivated it. It doesn't fix the issue, but at least I know why it's happening.

 
You can deactivate all systems via PC, just sign in to your Sony account. Reactivate the one you got now, and problem solved. Had to do this a couple times myself.

Go to your account, deactivate all of them and presto. You can only do it every six months, but it should leave you with a clean slate and fix that download queue problem.

I once had a SINGLE item on my download queue (PS3), but it didn't show a name for it. After like 2-3 months, it fixed itself. I did do some deactivating of my PS3 and my PS4, so who knows.

Weren't a bunch of people this weekend saying that Sony had no control over which PS1 games were Vita compatible, and it was up to the individual publishers? So either that's complete BS, or just about every publisher had a secret meeting over the weekend and agreed to make all games compatible on Monday.
 
So I'm seeing some "new" Pinball Arcade tables for PS4. Black Rose and Fish Tales (two tables I own for PS3) are showing up in the store for $4.99 EACH. Hoping that is a mistake or Farside just became my least favorite developer.

I'll admit I got confused on this one since I thought those tables were in Season 2, but it is pretty shitty that they don't offer any sort of price reduction for people who bought it on PS3 when the competition gives you PS4 tables for free. The new trend of $5 per table is pretty terrible, too since previously they only charged that for the high demand licensed ones.

Don't buy them. Maybe they will change their mind. But I don't believe they are alone in not having Vita to PS3 to PS4 cross-buy. $5 is more expensive, yes. To me it is still a reasonable price, but I'm a pinball nut (especially real word) and that Pinball FX stuff doesn't even count.

Or they've been getting the approvals but decided to hold back until they could release them all at once. Or they improved the emulator to make it easier to get everything certified. Or they said fuck it and released them all because they could. Or (as someone on GAF said) they found out they don't actually need approval from the publishers. Or who the fuck knows? I'm gonna listen to Katy Perry again.
