GOG Deals Thread

Go home, talkinrock, you're drunk. operating on a combined 2 hours of sleep for the last 48 hours, as your wife was in a near-fatal auto accident 3 days ago.
ftfy (True story, and please don't pity me, as I'm already stressed enough due to the lack of *genuinely useful* information from the ER staff... Ranting on CAG is my version of squeezing the very last bit of life out of one of those yellow, foam smiley balls.)

EDIT: Also, as much as I'd love to go home, the missus of nearly 35 years would most likely never forgive me if I left her alone in the hospital when she has a partially punctured/or ruptured/or collapsed lung (<<< Now are you starting to understand what I mean by how the ER staff isn't being all too helpful about keeping me updated with *slightly critical* information?)

Since we've already *gone there*, if these two had a daughter, I wonder if she would be like Jazmine Dubois, in terms of her, erm, personality (yeah, let's go with that).

[customspoiler=Disclaimer]My son got me hooked on the Boondocks during its second season, and I might *quite possibly* be the oldest Isles-folk I know whom thoroughly enjoys ALL of Aaron McGruder's work... (comics and otherwise).

I'm still quite peeved that he got himself fired over a dispute about his working hours, as so far, the two episodes that have aired from the latest Boondocks season (which he was not involved in the creation of) have been complete and utter trash.[/customspoiler]

How do I unsubscribe to this blog?
You can't...

P.S. - At least my last rant this time around was *somewhat* less strange than my previous stream of consciousness BS that I'm so (in)famous for posting in this thread, so you could at least give me credit for trying. lol

Kill talkinrock.
You can't...

Ya know, I'm immortal, being a rock and all that.

EDIT: Also, just because you *have* ninja training does NOT mean you should use it for picking fights/carrying out assassinations of old, sentient igneous stones (martial arts being for self-defense ONLY and all that stuff you're taught when you start learning one).

Or, perhaps, are you a student of this corrupted fellow, here?

I was majorly disappointed that he stopped making the comic strip about when the show started.

Does anyone know if the GoG version of Splinter Cell includes the bonus maps? (sorry for going OT)
As per, this link, it appears that the GOG version does indeed have them, although I didn't do that thorough of a Google search (just browsed the first page of results). If having the mission pack is the determining factor for your purchase, you could always contact the support staff over at GOG to ask, as they typically respond within 24 hours (even on weekends).

Since it appears I'm doing all the research for you anyway :p , here's the link to the GOG support page:

I'm definitely on the same page as you about this one, Gilby, but my local newspaper removed the Boondocks (per the request of its prude readership) years before the show was even around. So, to get my sociopolitically-fueled comic fix, I always just ended up (permanently) borrowing the anthology books from my son whenever he was finished with them. In other words, I was never truly affected when the strip stopped production, as I always had the books if I wanted to re-read them. Also, as you pointed out, it was about that time that the show came on air, so McGruder-aholics everywhere bellowed out in in cheer, especially considering they could no longer get legless off of the comics.

While we're on the topic of risqué comics/cartoons, are any of you here Spike and Mike fans, and/or readers of Mad Magazine?

Personally, Mad has a very close place to my heart, as I've read it since the 60's. I've never once missed out on reading an issue, even when I had to pay outrageous shipping fees to have them sent to me when I was living in Europe and Asia. I'm so avid of a fanatic, that I even have collectable editions (i.e. the 1st-10th, and other prominent issues) framed on a hallway wall in our house... However, I will say that for the last 5 years or so, Mad has gone slightly downhill in their content, and the fact that they have pushed publication down to a bimonthly basis also leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

But still, Mad Mag is the GREATEST, amiright?

lol, thanks. Amusingly, the links to the 1.3 patch and map files in your first link are uploads I did. :p

FWIW, I didn't "research" it because I was on my phone when I posted that. :p (I saw the sale and wanted to ask in case someone already bought SC from it)

EDIT: lol, the page for it on Gog.com says it includes the 3 bonus maps :p

Erm, besides the fact that this GIF is borderline racist, does anybody else think that we've driven this particular GIF into the ground with 3 uses of it in less than 3 days?

...Or am I entirely off my trolley, here? (<<< Even though this was a rhetorical question, we all know the answer to this, do we not?)

And just because I know that somebody is going to ask; NO, I haven't hit the bottle tonight... yet.

No problem, mate. ^_^

Enjoy your newly purchased DRM-liberated game (the one that started all the horrendously ghostwritten, video game-inspired novels that ruined the "Tom Clancy" name for his adoring fans... *sigh*

At least I can always re-read my Ludlum collection, I guess.

You clearly have no idea who you're dealing with.

Really? Huh, I guess I don't then... I always thought I was dealing with a rodent trained in the ancient art of Japanese assassination, but this recent information you are bringing to light may mean that I just might just be dealing with a 20 or 30-something chap who has nothing better to do than to toy and exchange subtle quips with a talking rock, no?

I was referring to the person you called a newbie, not myself, nice job quoting your own post though.

That's what happens when you try to quote a post on an iPhone, as opposed to one of those massive Android phones that could be used in a self defense situation to crush an assailant's skull in.

Also, who is this person, then, as you seem to know him *slightly* too well?...

...Is he your other personality, by chance?

I believe you just got "served" (as you tweens call it these days) by a pentagenarian, mate. :boxing:

I'm still curious as to how you already are so acquainted with our newly registered friend here, but whatever... He's from Colorado, so I can't give insult him with any cheeky remarks: By that, I mean that even though I haven't even seen marijuana for probably 30 years, I fully support the legalization and taxation of it; that's one thing about which Coloradans are more sensible than the majority of the Californians here, so cheers to that! *clinks glasses*

Meh, anything book-wise with Clancy's name on it post-TotT(2003) was ghostwritten.

At least the crappy game-tie-in books don't claim to be written by him. (written under David Michaels by Grant Blackwood, Raymond Benson, and others)

I look forward to seeing talkinrock and tebow try to communicate. I don't know what either of them are going on about half the time.

I'm not sure if those halves are mutually exclusive or not, though.

Tebow runs you over with sledgehammer. Souffrir is now knockout. Call the Sunasun help desk please.

I was going to ask whom this "tebow" fellow was, but a quick Google search turned up this:

Now I see what you (and the posters in that thread) meant by Icedragon not making a ounce of sense...

To be fair, though, my posts may be abnormal, but at least they are coherent, which apparently (coming from secondhand sources) the same can't be said for the subject at hand, here.

Okay but the person you link too is using his own language that should learn http://www.cheapassgamer.com/redirect.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cheapassgamer.com%2Fblog%2F3881%2Fentry-24237-a-cags-guide-to-tebonics%2F&pid=11734223

I've seen you post drunk, so trust me when I say you may be giving yourself too much credit.
In reality, I've only posted drunk once (St. Patty's Day), and even then, I was only more or less "punch drunk." Other than that, I've posted while I was tipsy twice (2 Black Russians and 2 Moscow Mules after a mate's b-day, and 6 glasses of wine after a Passover seder), but even then, I was simply overdramatizing the humour in my posts—as I do even when I haven't hit the bottle—just to match the absurdist sense of humour I have "in real life"... Just so ya know.

In other words, ANY time I say something that is (over)ridiculous, I'm just taking a "writer's license" to sound completely and utterly insane, and/or vent the humour that the wife tolerates, but doesn't necessarily want to hear 24/7.

Dear CAG,

I have a dilemma:

I would like to purchase the Imperialism games during this sale, but considering they are only 66% off, I'm not entirely sure if I should do so...

Seeing as I can only remember them being on sale for 75% or so ONCE before (could somebody with the knowhow verify that for me, please?)—and even that was a while ago, if memory serves me correctly—I'm tempted to get them during this sale.

I know if I wait until they are 75% or (hopefully) 80% off, I'm only going to save a little over a dollar for both games combined, but it's just the principle of holding out until they have more of a price cut...   you know what I mean?

P.S. - Keep in mind that I'm a fake CAG, as:

1.) I'm most likely going to actually play the games when/if I purchase them.

2.) Because I'm even asking this question at all.

So, as you can see, the CAG standards don't *actually* apply to me, so I might not even have to worry about waiting for a higher discount...             Still, I can at least attempt to be a cheapass poseur, as it makes me feel better about myself.

Thanks for your help!

-Curious in California

I do hope somebody gets the in joke regarding my choice of formatting...

As near as I can tell, this is actually the cheapest the Imperialism games have been on GOG, and this is a 60% off sale, not 66%. Given the relatively unpredictable nature of sales for less popular games on GOG and your pitiful #FakeCAGness, I'd say if you've got to have it in the foreseeable future, getting it now will be better than breaking down and buying it at 50% off later, but either way you'll get made fun o—

WAIT.

I'm most likely going to actually play the games when/if I purchase them.

In the time it took you to type all that out you could have done a few BJs in the back alley and just bought the game.
My response to this was going to be all nonchalant and the like, but apparently somebody already beat me to it.

P.S. - David Thorne's blog is (in my opinion) some of the best humour available on the Net, and if you like his style, I highly recommend following his blog.

I think you (and I and others likely) have been spoiled of recent by the Insomnia and other special sales. If memory serves, 50%-60% is the typical non-special reoccurring discount range for GOG. That being said, there's not a whole lot left I'm looking for from them.
