 Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last   (Blu Ray)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

Rideback is actually a universal price drop.  Funimation announced either 2 weeks ago or last week that they were dropping the MSRP to $30 for it and most retailers are now selling it for around $25.  This isn't the first time they've done this, as Oh! Edo Rocket did the same thing last year.

Guess it's easier for them to do this than it is to print new materials and move them to the S.A.V.E. line.

Aniplex releasing the 2 Gurren Lagann Movies on Bluray as a double feature.

http://gurrenlagannthemovieusa.com/bluray/bluray.html

It could be yours for $69.98

Aniplex also releasing the Ano Hana movie on July15. $69.98 for the CE and $39.98 for Standard. DVD is $29.98

http://www.aniplexusa.com/anohanamovie/

Aniplex is also releasing Silver Spoon S1 on DVD for $59.98 (Bare Bones)

http://aniplexusa.com/silverspoon/

They are also releasing the Madoka movies (1-2) with Dub. $99.98 for Bluray and $29.98 per movie on DVD

http://madokamagicausa.com/movie.php

Reminder on Tuesday they are going to announce the Kill La Kill set.

How did the Anohana film compare to the series? Missed out the theatrical release when it was near me though I already own the PE set from NISA.

Unless I'm mistaken, isn't the film a pseudo-sequel to the series?

Boy, am I getting sick and tired of Aniplex's price gouging. :headache:

Don't misunderstand what I'm about to say; I'm grateful that MVM (Madman) released the Monogatari and Fate/Zero sets in the UK. But my god their quality control on packaging is just awful. Clearly I've taken Funimation for granted over the years. The box is so thin that the sheer force of the shrinkwrap was enough to crush the sides in. I'm not sure that both volumes will actually fit now, but I'm going to try and stretch it back out. The real problem though is that it was so shoddily glued that there's exposed glue on top, and the bottom was clearly stuck to the assembly line as there's several spots where the top layer of paper was ripped off.

I'd contact their customer support about it. The Durarara! blus have all sorts of issues but they promised me a replacement soooo yeah, go e-mail them (that was Anime Limited not Madman, but eh, they are usually great so I'm sure they are just as good).

Yeah Anime Limited's stuff is all pretty well put together. Their Cowboy Bebop sets were quite solid, and the GL set looks fantastic. I wasn't a big fan of Durarara (the show), so I passed on that one. I'm kind of regretting that after seeing the support they've given US buyers. Maybe I'll order that when I order Nekomonogatari

I'll probably just whine about Fate/Zero for a bit and call it good. If it was a US set I'd do something, but with it being overseas it'd probably be more hassle than it's worth.

I complained on the Amazon post about the issues from the Durarara set and the company president replied to me directly about the problem... soooo yeah, don't give up hope yet (http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R29ZWE6KRD94RH/).

To be fair, 108 pounds is a fair bit more than $150. Even if it was $150, though, that's still a lot for a series on blu-ray. It's really easy to be spoiled by Sentai and Funimation here in the US. I just don't get how any other company can release these things at such high prices and expect for them to sell.

You might want to edit that as Inuyasha The Movie The Complete Collection. What you have makes it sound like an entire series set for $20. LOL

The conversion I used must be wrong, my bad. But it does include the movies and all of the (digital) extras from the super overpriced Aniplex release so it makes it up for it.

I always forget that they actually take VAT off for over seas orders. Other UK retailers don't do that. <3 Amazon UK lol
I couldn't agree more. They get pretty much all of my import business.

In case anyone is curious (and doesn't feel like digging through this thread) when I preordered the Gurren Lagann set it was only 70 pounds. Although the current preorder price is significantly higher, keep in mind that this is supposed to be a limited/numbered collector's set. Remember that if you decide to wait for a price drop.

I'm hoping that Durarara drops back to the 45 pound mark again before it goes out of print.

I love the Aniplex fanboy's who try to rationalize their ridiculous pricing structure lol.

Also, another thing to note is that their prices on anime drop way more frequently than American prices do so I'd suggest pre-ordering now and if the price drops before release to something you like (and then shoots back up) then you still get the pre-order guarantee.

Debating if I should upgrade to the Gurren Lagann movie Blu-rays since the subs on the DVDs are horrendous with their stretching... Nah, I spent so much on SAO and Fate/zero last year already. Really jealous of what the UK is getting, though.

And damn it, Aniplex... I'd buy Silver Spoon if it was on Blu. I hate how they're doing DVD releases when people can easily download the high def version of the series online. I'd love to support but can't justify paying for a show broadcasted in HD then downgraded to SD. Same goes with Magi. Sigh.

Magi is available on Blu Ray in the UK. :p

sorry i meant the entire movie collection with all 4 movies for 20. The tv series never came out on blu ray so i assumed you would know.

Would Ineed a region free player if I bought the gurren lagann ultimate edition from UK? Or could I play it on my ps3
All North American PS3's are region 1 in terms of playing Blu Ray movies, sorry. You can check in your area here to see if your local Sears has a Seiki player (what I have) available. You can also invest a region free player which maybe a little pricey.

none around me but thx for helping also can you recommend another region free blu ray player that's not too costly?thx

Secondspin's Memorial Day sale is up: MEMORIAL14.  30% off CDs/DVDs.

I have no idea what is a good price on what (and I'm not trying to steal Squarehard's hard work either) - I haven't looked yet.

I forget the exact model but best buy used to sell region free players.....you have to type in the code when you load the disc but other than that it's region free. they are out of print however but 2 years ago they could be had for under 50 dollars.

Did I ever mention that I bought a used copy of the LE set of Rideback and later discovered that it had been signed by Stephanie Young? :)
Shows how much it meant to that guy, lol. I never bother with getting autographs from voice actors anymore at cons. It's just too much of a hassle and line management at any convention I go to is a disaster.

I grabbed Deadman Wonderland as I thought it was alright on Toonami. $21 seems good enough to me compared to the DVD release that was like $50 two years ago, lol.

Enjoyable show I thought, but yea, wasn't $50 enjoyable. Guess they finally figured that out. I think that's about the price I paid for it on that Funimation sale about buy 3 get X% off. Shana S2 and that will ship around the same general timeframe. Kind of holding off on watching Shana again until I get season 3 so I can marathon the whole thing.

My MovieStop once had Fullmetal Alchemist Volume 1 signed by Caitlin Glass and Vic Mignogna and Dragonball Z Super Android 13 signed by Chris Sabat for sale. This was about 2 years ago.
