[PC] The Indie Gala Thread

So apparently Euro Truck Sim 2's back down to $4.94 (or $4.54 if you use Gala points) on the Gala store.

The last time, it got marked up to about $20 a few hours later, and I thought it had been a glitch, but now I don't know what to think. In any case, it says the sale lasts for the next ~14 hours, so if anyone's interested...

First impressions on some of the games in the bundle...

TEC 3001 is kind of like Race the Sun meets BIT.TRIP RUNNER. It's pretty well done, although I only played about 1.5hr and cleared half the levels already, so I can't imagine going back to it once I've gotten all the cards cleared all the levels. Although it does have split screen local multiplay, which I haven't tried out yet but sounds interesting.

Volt is pretty much the mobile game Cut the Rope with a facelift. Not really much else to say about that.

Garry's Incident.. well, I think we all know the verdict on this one.

I'll try and update with Circuits later.

Circuits is Simon Says played using sounds instead of colors.

Seriously???

Simon's tones where carefully picked to always sound good in any order.

Named for the children’s game of “Simon Says,” the game was inspired by an Atari arcade game called Follow-Me. Baer and Howard Morrison, a partner at Marvin Glass, first saw Follow-Me at a trade show in 1976. Both agreed that while the execution of the arcade game was horrible, the game itself—trying to repeat a musical sequence the machine created—was worthy of exploration. The two set about creating a hand-held game around the same concept.

Like Follow-Me, Simon had four different colored buttons. Each button played a unique note. Players had to be able to repeat an increasingly long string of tones that Simon created. If you got the order wrong, you lost. Baer was aware that choosing Simon’s four tones was a critical decision. He and Morrison both felt that one of Follow-Me’s main failings was that its sounds were unpleasant.

But how to choose four notes that could be played in any sequence and not hurt the ears? Baer found the answer while looking through his children’s Compton Encyclopedia. He discovered that the bugle can only plays four notes. So, Simon would play those same four bugle notes.

code drop imminent.. bad-rats-Class for the lurkers

I played about 3 Hours of T.E.C. 3001. Very fun overall though the jumping/dashing is tricky. It's like a funner Temple Run to me and I've beaten about 25 levels so far and earned the cards (they don't seem to be selling quickly though). Recommended and very good for arcade junkies who like to beat their high scores as depending on the score you get 1-3 volts in the end. I myself will try to make it through all the basic levels at least though these later ones are becoming tough.

About the 3001 game I think i'm done with it. After a while the game asks a bit too much for precise jumping (like landing 6 platforms with a boost in a row perfectly and you have to land each platform), and It takes me way too long to get past it. I'm on level 34 I believe and this just got to me too much though I did the one a few levels earlier with about 40 deaths or more to perfect it. It's fun and all but having that exact percision jumping needed which is hard with the slightly floaty jumping of your robot equals pure frustration. I had fun with it though (About 3-4 hours....with about another hour or 2 I could likely beat it but nah).

New Indie Gala:

Indie Gala Blood Knights Bundle
Pay $1 for:

  • Little Trus Man
  • Oniken
  • Syberia II
  • Zeno Clash 2
Pay more than $3.98 for:
  • Jets'N'Guns Gold
  • Blood Knights
  • A New Reckoning
  • Rock of Ages
  • M.U.D. TV
One Steam game to unlock in the future.
That's a terrible $1-tier. Least to me. Why are there two sequels in it with no previous games?

I have Zeno Clash 2 from BS, and Syberia 2 and Oniken from generous peoples. BTA-tier is the only reason I'm looking at this one, and I have Rock of Ages.

Normally wouldn't wanna pay $4, but.... since I've gotten several requests in regards to hosting already, I might as well. :p

I'll end the suspense and officially host this one.

You know the drill, PM me if you want a slot. First people to PM get the first bundles.

And now that Mayhem is more or less over, I'm still only taking PayPal.

Anyone hosting a group buy for Blood Knights?
Moi.

Not as good as the fantastic Air Control soundtrack.
