Anime Steals and Deals

**It is highly recommended you check the latest posts in this thread as they will often have the most up to date deals. I will attempt to reflect these sales in the OP, but always check the latest posts.**

Rightstuf

Rightstuf runs studio sales every week, sometimes even twice a week. These range from anime, manga, and even artbooks. Prices are decent, and Rightstuf has amazing customer service. I highly recommend them for that alone.

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/

You can save an additional 10% off a majority of their items (Including preorders) by buying their Got Anime membership

http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/action/store/item/Item?ItemName=gotanime1

Amazon

Amazon tends to offer lower everyday prices on their anime, and often run sales on Funimation items routinely. Keep track on your favorites or check your daily deal's for a possible 5% off of some based off your history on Amazon.

(Also, I'd also recommend to check out Amazon's top 100 deals in Anime Bluray/DVD as they tend to show what's popular, or what is on sale.)

http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/movies-tv/2959127011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_mov_1_3_last (Blu Ray)

http://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Movies-TV-Anime/zgbs/movies-tv/2959100011/ref=zg_bs_nav_mov_2_2958934011 (DVD)

DVDPlanet / Deep Discount

Known by many for their bad customer service, they often make up for it with their lower prices on a lot of their items. This and they routinely run sales specifically for anime.

http://www.dvdplanet.com/Pages/Search/Category.aspx?ec=42000

http://www.deepdiscount.com/index.cfm

I highly suggest when you order from them to only order in stock items, and not ones that are backordered. Save yourself the displeasure of having to deal with the headaches. And patience is a must with these sites.

Cheapassgamer

Maybe you will find something here on our own forums! We have a thread dedicated specifically to Anime and Manga for sale from fellow Cags.

You might want to say what these links are so people don't blindly click on them, lol.

In my personal opinion, Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the few shonen animes that I highly recommend anyone to buy. A classic dub and it has a great HD remaster (from Japan). And with the exception of the Dark Tournament arc being a little long, I enjoyed the whole anime.

"Look for the "Buy Any 2, Get the 3rd Free" message on select products." - Barnes and Noble

Barnes and Noble :nottalking:

To be clear, that's at the wording of their sale and not at Ashilla; whom I'm grateful to for posting the deal.

Of course, my mistake. Personally, I'm thinking of getting eureka parts 1+2 (both qualify) plus something else for free. Most of their blu rays are marked up because of the sale but not all of them.

Oh no, I wasn't giving you a hard time. I was shaking my head at the marketing department over at B&N.
Oh I know. And I agree, but not just about the marketing department. Barnes and Noble as a whole is a mess. Places like Best Buy have taken, in my opinion, practical measures (like price matching online stores) to stay relevant while B&N lives in the past. They won't even match prices with their own website.

So I wish I could have found something else for $50 so I could get an ok price on the two Nura sets I'm missing, but no luck. A few things caught my eye that I thought I'd mention.

There's two Gamera collections each of which have four of the old b/w movies for $13 apiece

Shout/Scream Factory releases like The Fog, Futureworld, Westworld, Night of the Comet

Also, B&N have some really weird listings online (not the third party ones either, stuff listed from the store directly). I wonder what I'd get if I ordered this from them (I mean presumably I'd get the import set, but why in the world do they even HAVE this?)

I just got billed for Samurai Bride (Samurai Girls Season 2) from Rightstuf so they should be shipping them out pretty soon, it doesn't officially come out till June 24th but looks like they're sending them out early.

RightStuf sends their items out when they arrive at their warehouse, regardless of release date.

why not wait for the inevitable $25 or less price when deepdiscount.com or dvdplanet.com runs one of there anime sales?and sometimes there's a promo code you could use that pops up during those sales.
Waiting for a DD sale doesn't help anyone that bought set 1 on the cheap, watched it, and now wants to complete the series as quickly as possible. ;)

Sentai posted earlier about some future releases. Dub for Outbreak Company, Sunday Without God, Chu2, and Maid-sama! Also BD releases for Tamako Market, K-on S1, and Stella C3.

No real info on dates or anything other than before the end of the year but is nice either way.

so wait... there will be a dub for chu2 but not chu1? (early morning edit... just remembered chu2 is the abbreviation for the first season so ignore this statement (leaving it for the sake of owning up for my moment of sleepyness)... this makes me happy as well as I was sad it didn't have a dub since I don't buy much anime that doesn't have dubs)

also way dub for maid sama I can buy it then... and I still need to watch sunday without god so I will likely just wait for the dub of that.

High School of the Dead box set...this intrigues me. Will probably just be the series and OVA bundled together sadly.

bummer....it was a rare zombie show that managed to have every cliche possible(zombies and anime) and still be funny and hilarious and even a bit unpredictable....a rare zombie show that stands out in a crowd of endless zombie shows

Nope. There isn't much source material to warrant a Season 2, as the manga has been on hiatus for a few years now. The last time the manga was updated was in 2012 I think. And it only added 1 chapter.
yeah, that is what i read too about high school of the dead. i am remember reading somewhere that the artist/story writer for the manga went off to separate projects, basically abandoning hotd

it is like a harem zombie anime.

I don't think it was harem....harem would imply several girls mindlessly tripping over themselves to be with one guy who has the sex drive of a potato.

there was pink hair with boobs (granted she was seemingly going after both guys), samurai girl with boobs, and dumb nurse girl with huge boobs that should have died ep 1 all seemingly trying to sleep with him at some point... that's enough to define it as a harem to me o_O; and oh yeah the annoying childhood blonde... and you even had the loli that liked him that would obviously grow up to want to sleep with him in a few years.... not sure how you don't call it a harem just because there is a second male there that has minor interest from one of the females. only real difference to normal harems is it ditched the high school setting early on.

also... we should change topics because I am tired of thinking about this show >.>;

so how about that no game no life... easily the best anime of the last season.

The pink haired girl was shipped more with the gun otaku. The dirty blonde is the childhood friend who won't atop complaining (even though she is justified in every complaint) while the purple-haired samurai girl is the most popular love interest.

Anyway, Highschool of the Dead > Walking Dead

Looks like its going to be 5 Volumes for the US Kill la Kill set with the first coming July 15th along with the other new Aniplex releases. Going to be an expensive set :< lol

Fixed that for you. Highschool of the Dead would really be so much better if they didn't focus on trying to stuff as much T&A as they can in it(though it's not surprising considering the author was a hentai artist).

Hey guys, is $67 + tax a good price for FMA Brotherhood on Blu-ray? Amazon has 2 boxsets for the complete collection for that price total. I don't have Netflix or anything (plus dat uncompressed HD blu-ray quality) and haven't gotten to see it yet... have only seen the original show.

They tend to be around $27 when they go on sale though the lowest price was $22 back in August it looks like. In the end its up to you. Paying $13 more than the set would be on a normal sale isn't terrible if its something you want to watch sooner then later.

because it wasn't the central theme of the show.....the central theme was zombies in high school. Harems normally are all about the one guy and the many girls trying to bang him and if I remember correctly in high school of the dead the guys are the ones getting turned down by the girls.....harems have the one guy acting like a potato while every girl throws herself of him but he just can't get an erection or something(I guess the guys in harems are castrated I don't know). Harems are the central theme of Harems.

also I hate harems with a passion so the fact I enjoyed this show tells me it wasn't a harem.

and never seen no game no life

@Pika do you happen to know when they tend to go on sale? Sorry I'm on my phone right now and don't know how to quote.
Rightstuf just had a Funimation sale though FMA was'nt that cheap. Funi has had a few sales on their own store as well as coupons fairly recently. The last few Amazon sales they had were mostly certain titles and Walmart PM's.

I think I remember someone posting FMA on sale on funi's site a few weeks ago. We can always hope for another sale with Anime Expo coming up.

just because it tried to have a plot and isn't a generic cliche harem doesn't make it not a harem, the entire relationship dynamic is still a harem, and the only reason the nurse has lived is for ecchi scenes (she is just too dumb, with a well written plot she wouldn't exist because she would be long dead) and at the very least it's tagged as a harem on anidb.net, but hey if it helps you like the show you can call it what ever you want :p To be fair in general I dislike harems myself, but that doesn't mean that I can't find some shows where that is the dynamic of the cast that I can't enjoy (of note, I disliked high school of the dead, but it's also not remotely the worst show I have seen)

and also you should check out no game no life sometime, it's a fun series that is rather well written and does a great job of mocking a number of cliches in anime.

anyways, are there usually any decent anime sales in june, or do we have to wait until july for perhaps a 4th of july sale?
