Maybe stop trying to play R&C1 like its sequels and more like the Jak games, which also don't have strafing?
I played through the Jak series just fine for the most part. Something about the camera and auto aim that is throwing me off. I am going to power through it, just thought I would bitch and moan about it.

@Vigilante Did you ever get that Paperwhite situation sorted out?
Still working on it--I was at an out-of-town conference last week, and I haven't had much of a chance to do anything with it yet.

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/06/02/homefront-returns-with-revolution-in-the-air.aspx

I'm actually kinda excited for this. I had low expectations going into the original Homefront and enjoyed it quite a bit. I only payed around $5 for it, so the length didn't bother me. Crytek being the dev makes it sound even better.
I actually got a bit more excited after reading that the primary developer is Crytek UK, a.k.a. Free Radical, the TimeSplitters developer. Hopefully they learned their lesson after Haze.

Turn off auto-aim?

Verdict? I'm probably going to trade it in today as the first several hours I've played have been pretty boring.
I enjoyed playing it considering I hate the driving in most games (and I wasn't thrilled with the driving in this game either). I finished the main story yesterday and a few side missions. Will probably play the 1 hour exclusive PS3/PS4 content and trade it by the end of the week as well. I thought the story and hacking kept it interesting enough but no way am I going to do those 40 driving missions which would be required to get the platinum.

I'm actually kinda excited for this. I had low expectations going into the original Homefront and enjoyed it quite a bit. I only payed around $5 for it, so the length didn't bother me. Crytek being the dev makes it sound even better.
I was one of the few who actually liked Homefront MP. The graphic was subpar, but the gameplay was fast and furious. I also loved how you earned points for kills and taking objectives, which could then be applied towards purchasing rpgs, tanks, attack helicopters and so on. Very fun game. I spent hours with the multiplayer.

Rainbow moon is going to free soon, watch. Still mad that puppeteer(sp) went on sale and then free like a month or two later. Worth the purchase though.

What is my best option if I want to pick up a Vita? Get a Like new older model through AWD?
If you don't mind the older version I recommend getting through AWD or Cowboom (I got a grade 5 I think for about 105-106 or so). Save the money and use it for the memory card (I think 16 gigs should be a minimum, I have 32 and want the 64.....most vita installs of vita games take close to 2 gigs so I recommend a bigger card). I do want the rounded edges and the more powerful battery of the newer Vita...but the one I have can go about 3 hours without needing a charge......sometimes a bit less when I'm doing heavy gaming sessions on it. It's comfy enough for me but really think of the idea of saving money vs more comfort and a newer model sans OLED screen.

I have Rainbow Moon but have yet to play it. Any of these extras worth picking up?

That's what I did. $130, basically new.
Except for the ball sweat. I don't usually check the thread on the weekends...always amazes me how much transpires in 2 days. Crunchewy, good Spelunky daily challange run 4-4...not too shabby. I've been pulled back in.

The rumours say it's gonna be shit because it was originally being developed for last-gen, then got scrapped for being a pile of garbage and their second attempt isn't going much better. Then again, it's Free Radical, so who fucking knows.

Still working on it--I was at an out-of-town conference last week, and I haven't had much of a chance to do anything with it yet.

I actually got a bit more excited after reading that the primary developer is Crytek UK, a.k.a. Free Radical, the TimeSplitters developer. Hopefully they learned their lesson after Haze.

Turn off auto-aim?
I wanna say that Haze was rumoured to be ruined because of Sony's intervention/meddling. Wouldn't surprise me, since they were desperate for a runaway exclusive at that point in time.

Thanks. Trades in for $44 at Best Buy so that game is long gone from my collection. Nothing overtly wrong with it. The hacking gimmick just isn't enough to differentiate itself from the competition. I kept wanting to stop playing and boot up GTA 5 instead.

I second this. Got mine Grade 7 from Cowboom for $116, and it was flawless. I then spent about the same amount on a brand new 64 GB card on Ebay. Absoulutely worth it.

While I realize much of the hacking is a gimmick (albeit a neat gimmick), it can change the gameplay if you are playing correctly. It basically gives you control over the environment which is different from some other open world games. Personally, I find Watchdogs more interesting than GTA5 so far, but perhaps the hacking gimmick will wear thin after awhile since i've only played a few hours so far. I at least appreciate the fact that the main character has some sort of good motive rather than just being a complete scumbag like GTA.

I will definitely stay away from Watch Dogs then. Games that can be played incorrectly dont usually work out well for me.

Thanks for looking out, I'll probably wait it out even further for a lower price...I figure I've already waited this long.

Just a heads-up, a PC version of Fable Anniv just got confirmed, in case you have a PC you'd rather play it on.
My PC game days are winding down I think at this point. What I really need to do is build a smaller rig for the tv.

Traded in FIFA 14 after the platinum and also MLB the show for Vita... was able to buy Wolfenstein and Watch Dogs for $20 after some gift cards... now if only I had the time to play both!  And I need to platinum PES first, damn super long simming trophies!

Mortal Kombat X looks pretty sick if that is indeed gameplay. It's similar in style to the last one so I'm hopeful. Looks like great fun.

Downloading Don't Starve atm and noticed its downloading an update for it at teh same time. Thats a pretty cool feature.

Not sure what you mean by playing correctly. I realize that the environment is littered with things that you can trigger to effect gameplay (explode some random thing to kill a nearby enemy, distract a dude by sending him a text message, etc.), but that didn't do a lot (for me) to differentiate it from other 3rd person shooter's. Compared to GTA 5, I could see where you would enjoy the shooting gameplay more. The critical thing for me is that the map wasn't any fun to explore. Just super urban with little variability. Not what I look for in an open world game. I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if it were linear.

Oddly enough after playing Watch Dogs I want to pick up a copy for PS3 (or PS4) and maybe give it a try. I hated GTA4.

it looks like it is the actual gameplay since a CGI trailer would show them in a 3D fighting arena. I thought at one point ed boon said the next sequel would be next gen only but i guess this is coming out for cross platform. I'm hyped for E3 next week.

I can't recommend it enough, but I've always loved GTA games. They righted a lot of the wrongs made in GTA 4 (better driving and shooting, not forced to hang out with NPCs), so depending on why you hated 4 you may enjoy 5.

You got all the collection trophies too? Then you know my pain. I still have nightmares.

RE: Rainbow Moon --

I'm about halfway through the game. It's definitely worth any sale price, i'm enjoying it. The plot is terrible (badly written, goofy... there are sidequests like "dude, can you deliver my comic book collection to that guy over there".) But the game itself is solid - all random battles can be skipped if you don't want them, and combat has a nice srpg feel.

You don't technically need any of the pearls/etc. You need them to level up stats, but you earn them in combat. You'll earn enough naturally to raise all key stats appropriately. Some stats simply don't need to be raised (like Hit Points, you get enough gain just by leveling up). So unless you need to max each character you'll be fine.

I'm playing on the hardest level and not having any issue. I might buy some coins/pearls just because they're so cheap, but definitely not necessary.

edit - in the back of my head i remember a trophy linked to... coins, i think. i believe one of the easy ways to get it is to buy a pack but it's not that hard to do in the game. don't totally remember. i'll check a trophy guide later.

Naughty Dog has announced they have a second game on the same level as Uncharted in production!!!  And also the two lead directors for The Last of Us have officially taken over Uncharted 4...  Great PS4 news!!!

There is no way that Mortal Kombat trailer is gameplay, regardless I am very excited. Right now I am in around 260-265 in the challenge tower on MK9 so I will be able to finish the last 35-40 before MK10 comes out.

Yeah, this is where Affa comes in and tells me I am playing it wrong. I just cant live without strafe man!
Disliking a game due to archaic controls is understandable. However, wanting strafe in a game that doesn't have it is different from refusing to use it in a game that does have it and then complaining shooting is wonky. One is not liking the controls, the other is doing it wrong.

Don't worry, though, people play Vanquish wrong all the time too.

What I meant by playing it "correctly" is that you use the tools the game provides. The games does force you to use some hacking, but there are a lot of times where you could simply run around and shoot people without using the hacking features. The game would be pretty dull without the hacking element, so those who don't find the hacking element interesting should stay away. Personally, i'm still really enjoying things like how I can cause a traffic pile up by blowing up a steam pipe or messing up a traffic light. I'm sure that hacking can get old and probably will, but it makes it unique enough for me to prefer it over something like GTA5 so far.

You just couldnt let it go could you?

Also, I loved Vanquish. Since I got it for cheap I just played it for fun on easy. Great fun sliding around blasting things. Did I play it wrong?

I got you man. No worries. I wouldnt like Watch Dogs anyway because I woudlnt want to be interrupted by other players when I am trying to get to the next mission or what not. I read you couldnt turn the online off, is that still true?

the trailer shows subzero and scorpion but isn't subzero a robot now according to the new rebooted time line in MK9?
