P.O. or mail box options for any package receipts?

I'm going to move to a new apartment (something cheaper than my current place) and I've narrowed down my choices to two places but I'm worried about all the stuff I buy online from Amazon, Newegg, eBay, etc. Neither place has package receiving and I'll be at work for most of the day (probably from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM).

Is there one, universal mail box that holds packages from USPS, FedEx and UPS? I know I can get individual mail boxes for each service but that's not exactly cost effective. And additionally, there's no way for me to know what service a retailer will use until after they ship it. I thought I read somewhere that the USPS P.O. Boxes would begin to accept UPS/FedEx packages but I guess that wasn't true.

My current apartment has package receiving, which is great, but it's a very uncommon feature in cheaper places.

There may or may not be UPS Type stores in your area, out here there is something called Postal Annex. I've seen others that are more mom and pop type places.

Is delivering your stuff to work out of the question?

I was going to say USPS does accept UPS/Fedex package, but since you mentioned they don't, I guess your PO won't do it.

I have a paper on it right here from my PO Box, so it must be at the Post Master's discretion to offer it.

UPS Store mailboxes will accept all carrier's packages though.

EDIT: If you're just looking online about USPS accepting UPS/Fedex packages and can't find anything, make sure to check in your PO.  I couldn't find anything about it online, but I get letters about it in my PO Box.

It would be fine but taking them home might be an issue. The trains are crowded as hell and I often get multiple packages. For some reason, after 9 months here, I've only seen a single personal package so I'd feel weird getting so many packages here.

I did not know that about the UPS store, I'll have to check that out. And hopefully, they're not too expensive.

Amazon has pick up locker locations too

I've never used it as I have no need, but I think it's free?
That'll take care of Amazon but not all the other retailers I use... but even then, there's no locations in Chicago.

UPS does not ship to PO/AFO, you may get lucky if the package is shipped in one of those methods that get tendered to the post office.

UPS store is a viable option. If you want to save some money try one of these routes. Have apartment office sign for all deliveries and pickup during business hours. Almost every apartment with an office will accept deliveries. If the UPS facility is nearby they will hold all your packages to be picked up at your convenience. The customer counter at the facility is open later than UPS store and apartment office. The one in my area is open until 8 p.m. Another advantage to the hold is you can pickup your package early in the day if you need it urgently for some reason. One disadvantage is the facilities are usually in industrial areas and not always close to where you live. Hope this helps. Good luck with your move.
