Well I haven't had a drink in like 5 days, except for the 2 beers I had on Saturday...which is basically the equivalent of a methadone addict taking a Tylenol and I went to bed last night at 11pm and woke up at 9am. So I am on the road to recovery... You guys should start seeing a better, more responsible, less meltdowny Moose... and thus starting my ultimate downfall.

Oh absolutely. The Great Guacamelee Meltdown of 2014 was nothing. I didn't even pay for Guacamelee, it was on the PSNow Beta. Just wait until I preorder a game that I have been looking forward to for a long time, pay full retail for the collector's edition and the game disappoints me. That's when you will see some shit.

I haven't watched yet, but thinking of watching MGS V at Microsoft yet again if it happens, boils my blood. That and knowing they are developing The Phantom Pain for last gen consoles too. They better announce a March 2015 release at the latest. MGS 4 was the most ambitious Kojima game and as a 2008 title, gives a run/is better than a lot of other titles released later.

Sony should have thrown money at that property. Kojima spending 3-4 years on the strongest console of this generation. A man can dream...

You're possibly buying a PS4 before MGS V launches, right? Considering you bought a PS3 for the same reason I did mine (MGS4).

That said, I played both versions of Ground Zeroes and trust me, the leap between platforms is astonishing.

 
I just read that the mission I'm on in Splinter Cell that made me want to quit is probably the toughest ones in the game. Maybe I'll continue on in hopes that it becomes more enjoyable.

As long as you get to play it, who cares? I could see being mad if it was MS exclusive, but I'm totally fine with a bigger audience being able to play it.

I love that a bigger audience is playing it. But I don't really feel the push of innovating Kojima had on MGS to MGS4. He pushed the hardware and everything to the max he could each iteration. I don't blame him, Konami has given him "freedom", letting him "run" things as he wants as long as he produces the cash cow MGS is for them. What Halo was for Xbox owners, that was MGS for me. I bought a PS1, only played Gran Turismo and the MGS demo on it (I was young). Bought a PS2, got MGS2 for my birthday (they released it close to it). Bought MGS3 years later due to a bit of disconnect in gaming, but played that to death. Bought a launch PS3, just waiting for the arrival of MGS4. I've followed the series through the years, and believe me when I say that if Halo ever jumped ship, that would not sit nice with that community.

I agree that they should have left it off last gen consoles, but if it comes to PS3, then it will not make me buy a PS4. Unless they significantly cut content from the last gen versions, I don't care that much about graphical upgrades to want to get the PS4 version. I'll get a PS4 when there's a must have game I can't get on last gen consoles.
 
With everything they are trying to include in MGS V, I can't see how they get it on last gen systems.  I mean MGS IV was unbelievable and took all 50 gb's of the blu ray disk.  How can it be any smaller than that?

 
Luftrausers is a lot of fun. I wouldn't mind if they ported it to PS4, but it is fantastic on Vita in particular. Definitely recommended.

I'm not really worried about innovation being stifled because it's multiplatform. Having played Ground Zeroes on PS4, the gameplay already feels pretty different (more modernized, which I'm sure some long time fans don't like). You can tell he is trying some new stuff. Plus it looks amaze-balls (despite being developed last gen, too). And MGS has always been third party. All of my MGS memories have been on PS consoles, too, but that is pretty different from Halo appearing on another system. MGS1 came to Gamecube as Twin Snakes, MGS 2 was on Xbox, 3 got ported to DS... there's definitely precedent and it's silly to feel betrayed as a PS guy.

Ports made years later, not developed alongside. And MGS4 couldn't be ported to 360, so that tells you the technical he pulled off. Maybe they'll remaster it down the line, but MGS4 stands as a crowning achievement.

 
The problem I have with MGS is that I've never played any of them, and so I'd have to play through all the old games and that would take forever and then I lose interest in the idea and play Spelunky instead. Speaking of which, I'd *love* to hear an announcement of when Spelunky will be released on PS4. I've got to stream my mediocrity. Plus that new controller and all those P's (which I can't see - 720p TV, but it's the principal of it)!

Well I was told from a friend, that MGSIV is playable if you have not played any of the other games. The problem is you won't get those A-Ha moments or surprises that fans will get, otherwise the story is good and of course the gameplay is great.

 
Speaking of streaming, I tried it out with Resogun and for a while I had somebody watching and they didn't stop watching! Awesome! Then I realized that it was me - I'd brought it up on our computer to check the stream. fuck.

I wasn't super impressed with the streaming. The stream kept freezing up for periods of time. Though mostly when I had the stream set to Best HD. When I set it to normal it worked better, but not perfectly. I don't know if the problem is the streaming service, or my internet. Very possibly the latter. F'ing Verizon.

 
I'll pick up Luftrausers. Thinking about TWAU as well, but I'm not sure how well that plays on PS3. Is the framerate terrible like some of the other Telltale games? I know TWD S2 is supposed to have fixed that problem, but am not sure whether TWAU also works well.

Definitely your Speeds are what are affecting it. I know I have a very fast wired connection and it streams flawlessly.

I'm waiting on the PS4 versions for both TWAU and TWD, as TT is supposed to use an updated engine for them.

It was the first MGS game I ever played, and I still enjoyed it very much.

The good thing about being a solo gamer is that I'll only need one. The bad thing is that it means It's a waste of $60 for me to buy one rather than waiting to get one with the system in a year or three.

around the holidays it seems like amazon and other retailers frequently have controller deals. during the rest of the year though it's a pretty dry landscape.
 
Last year Amazon ran that promo where if you traded in $20 worth of video game stuff you got $20 off of a DS4 and $20 off of Beyond: Two Souls, so I ended up getting Beyond for $5 and a DS4 for $25 when I combined that offer with BF sales.  Deals like that happen sometimes, but they're rare, especially for new hardware like the PS4 and its accessories.

AWD's algorithm is pricing things higher than usual, but I recall seeing DS4s for sub-$40 last year through AWD here and there. I got my second DS4 through the same deal as cbulas1.
