Can anybody here recommend me a good, sturdy case for my vita? I want to buy something that'll protect it completely.

You think that fits a Vita Slim?
nope,

Posted by: EthanChap

What's great about it: your vita is definitely safe in this thing.
What's not so great: its very big and bulky. My Vita Slim didn't seem to fit very well.

This case is pretty good protection wise - I feel like you could check this thing on an airline and it would be safe, but I bought this for the new PS Vita Slim, and didn't like how tight it was. It didn't seem to really fit, and my fear was that the buttons would be held down at all times inside this case. I returned this item, but would still recommend to owners of the original PS Vita.

I keep waiting for my code for Destiny to show up (have a friend who I'm going to give it to), but I'm wondering if I'm ever going to see it. Has anyone who already entered a code in their account also received a code from having put in for one with the same account? I'm wondering if they see that I already entered a code and thus aren't going to send me another. It seems like I should have gotten it by now if I was going to get one.

I'm wondering if they see that I already entered a code and thus aren't going to send me another. It seems like I should have gotten it by now if I was going to get one.
That would be me. A fellow cag gave me a code yesterday, and I went and redeemed it so I could download it. Another code followed like half an hour later, which went to a friend.

I played some more Heavy Rain last night and I have to say I'm liking more than I thought I would. The only real problem I see so far is how you get hung up sometimes doing the same thing a few times in a row. Kind of breaks the immersion. I have to say though it feels a bit more like watching a game than playing it.

I also finished up The Walking Dead Season 2 Episode 3...trouble abound.

I also started up Tearaway...feels like they out Nintendo'd Nintendo on this one. Really unique and fun so far. Makes me wish there were more full on built from the ground up games for the Vita.
I would get so lost juggling two heavy story based games and playing a third all at the same time. Kudos to those of you that can do that.

I thought Heavy Rain was decent. They still havent captured the magic that was Indigo Prophecy. Or at least the first 2/3 of it.

Well I usually only do 1 console and 1 handheld game at the same time. The Walking Dead being in between because I've been playing the episodes as they release this time around. I think it's harder fighting control schemes sometimes when you have similar but not quite the same layouts.

I need to give the Souls games a whirl at some point then, BloodBorne looks sweet to me. The combat looks faster though or is that about the speed of the Souls games? People always make it sound slow and lumbering. Guess it depends on the amount of Armor etc. Just fear the time sink more than anything.

They have already said it will be a much quicker version of the Souls games that will be a little bit more accessible for gamers everywhere

There are like 4 wannabe souls games coming out now. Not sure I really dig this new trend.
How is Mirror of Fate? I wanted to buy it after playing the demo but was waiting for a sale. Which i doubt will ever happen as it seems none of the other Castlevania games ever go on sale on PSN.

When Bloodborne releases I'm sure Sony going to be selling a lot more systems. Yeah it looks like a Souls game but I could careless. It's a title needed for the PS4 and looks fun.

I hope so. I liked what I saw so far. I didnt like Demon's Souls gameplay but I loved the atmosphere, so if they can make it play more like a hack and slasher with the Souls aesthetics, I would be in.

Mirror of Fate...If you guys have a 3DS there is a demo, but I've heard it isn't a real good indication of the game as a whole. I played that demo and thought it was pretty middle of the road and bland. Not sure if they did any real updates besides HD for the PSN version. Metacritic has it at 70. I'd probably grab it if it went on sale but don't think I'd pay full price.

Mirror of Fate is cool so far. The map system works ok but it's not one huge sprawling map like SotN, there are smaller sub-levels. Seems like there are lots of secrets that I'm passing up so far which hopefully can be accessed via fast travel later (I don't know if there's a fast travel system or not). You can leave little notes on the map telling you what was there, though mostly it seems like once I get this one item I'll have access to basically all the secrets I've missed so far.

The combat is alright, not as nice as Guacamelee or anything but not completely dull either. Lots of enemy variety which is nice and the standard 2D block puzzles and such. Game feels pretty long, I'm already 90 minutes in and I'm still in Act 1-1 (there are 9 total acts). It definitely should have had a platinum trophy.

So, you can aim with L2, right? That's usually my biggest gripe when playing Halo and I constantly waste grenades when I press LT to aim.

And I didn't know Halo 4 let you switch to CoD style controls. That's cool.
One concern I had over Destiny is if it would control like a Halo game. Not necessarily the button layout, but the feel of the guns and the movement. With the exception of enemy behavior, this doesn't feel like Halo at all to me (but to be fair, I only really played Reach)

I played around 4 hours today and it seems I've already hit the level cap. A message came across the screen thanking me for testing the alpha.... I WANT MORE.

Man I want to play a game for 4 hours today. One can dream. :whistle2:( Damn work getting in the way.

Great. Left my PS4 on standby overnight to download the Destiny alpha and it stopped halfway. Pretty lame how it doesn't resume after the internet disconnects

The only things I noticed that were like Halo with the Destiny beta is the health/shield system and the floaty jump that isn't nearly as floaty as Halo's jump, plus the way that I suck at the MP like I did in Halo.

Wow, when you start to hour out your backlog it starts to get real scary. Don't think I'll go any further.

Anyone know what the end dates for Hardline and Destiny are? Want to make sure I remember to check them out at least.
Get some rounds in on Hardline, very enjoyable. As a $30 download, it would be great. I wrecked on Heist when I played, so I'm thinking of playing Blood Money now. Then gorge in Destiny (which I go in knowing it has Borderlands dna in it, since I never played Halo).

I have to say Tyler was right about these Luftrausers controls. Pretty high learning curve. I dont know if I will ever destroy a blimp. Still fun and quick arcade action though. At least for a little while. I am not a score attack guy so I will get bored with this fairly quickly either way.
Ok... not sure why everyone is having a problem. I mean, I realize there aren't many thrust/freefall games out nowadays so there is a learning curve...

Blimps are easy.

You have (at least) two options:

1) If you just want the kill for a challenge, then you're going to want to damage it a little bit (it'll drop a couple times before dying) while using the nuke body. Once it drops once, it should die when you die.

2) Now, how to damage it (and kill it?).... well, this can be done with any weapon, but the laser is probably easiest. What you want to do is be 'swooping' underneath it, firing up. What I mean by this is you're not actively thrusting at it.... you want to fly towards it from a distance, but then 'freefall' (with left or right momentum) underneath it, only hitting thrust as you see it fire. Since you were freefalling, the bullets won't even be near you as soon as you thrust.

Basically, imagine you're on a string, a pendulum beneath it shooting it when you can.

Don't really worry about missles until there's a pile, then destroy them while nowhere near the blimp. Or use them to build up a multiplier once you have a handle on the game.

------

Battleships --- most important thing -- never, ever fly directly at a battleship. If you're thrusting directly towards one and it fires a volley, the odds of you having enough power to swing out of the way is near zero.

For battleships, you want to do sort of the opposite of blimps -- thrust fast up and over, then timing freefall dropping as you pass it. A nice arc over it. Bullets will never come near you (from the ship, watch out for other enemies) if you're doing this right.

If you just need a battleship for a challenge, you can use the nuke body.

The bomber ship type is also good for destroying ships, but you need to be careful as it's easy to 'go for one extra bomb' and get lit up.

If there are more than one battleship near each other, ignore them until you're really good. They'll eventually move away from each other.

---------

#1 tip

Big planes (and all enemies, really) ---

Again, freefall is absolutely key. Understanding freefall is how you will go from wtf to great. Enemies will fire at where you're going to be.... if you're constantly thrusting, you have little room to maneuver and you're already going full speed so it can be difficult to avoid death.

What you want to be doing, mostly, is controlled free fall... with your ship pointing in a different direction than your movement. Thrust is powerful, so as soon as an enemy starts firing, you simply tap thrust, and you'll completely change your movement pattern.

You should be constantly alternating between the controlled float of freefall and thrusting -- do most of your maneuvering (turning) while in freefall for maximum effect.

Thrust is primarily for escaping. This isn't always the case, but for a beginner, it's probably the best way to think about it.

Battleships arent that hard after you play a while and figure out the strategy to kill them. Mine was to swoop in low kind of stall so they focus on that spot, then when they shoot move over a bit and shoot the hell out of it, then repeat. The problem with the blimp is that I have only seen one so far. I am not sure how to get it to appear other than maybe not dying for a long time.
The way enemies spawn is based on a 'counter' that goes up. As time passes, the counter goes up... and every kill adds a certain amount of points to the counter depending on what you killed. Harder enemies don't spawn until you reach certain point totals.

I am not talking about your score, i'm talking about an invisible counter.

If you do well one round, the next round won't start at zero, so it'll get hectic sooner (no slow wait for the early rounds like many arcade games).

Blimps appear for me in every game (the odds of me dying pre-blimp are near zero). Usually only a couple minutes. There's no fixed spawn time, but it's after battleships.

Also, I think there's a limit to how many enemies can be on the screen, so sometimes killing some stuff will 'free up' enough space for a blimp. I can't swear that's how it works on a technical level but it feels that way and makes sense.

By the time you've killed a battleship, you should be in 'blimp could appear any moment' time, though it can take a minute or two.

If you're playing well... hmm.. should appear around or before 20k. But that's with big multipliers... if you're not scoring high then i'm sure the point total would be lower. I'll do some testing later after i finish plat'ing monster monpiss -- almost there.

EDIT --- I finally understand the ps4's 'share mode'... I would love to be able to show you guys some footage of me playing SMFT mode (massive bullet hell mode).

If you hit the level cap, you can't play anymore?
No, I can keep playing and I'm sure I will. I wonder if I got the message in error because there were a lot of equipment/weapons that were available to higher levels and it didn't look like my xp bar was maxed out.

I'm actually going to play in a little bit... anyone interested in a twitch stream?

I can confirm two things. 1) Destiny is a FPS. 2) I suck at FPS and ... wait ... three things ... bullet sponges.

If I hear "The wizard is here!" one more time I think I will explode!

I'm sure this is a fine game, but I'm just so bad at these things that it is not even remotely fun for me. Dead Nation - now that I find very fun.

I don't even want to bother with Battlefield Hardline, so if somebody wants my code let me know.

EDIT: gone!

I wasn't impressed wiith BF Hardline either.  I kind of liked BF4 a bit.  I am sure will I give it another try over the weekend but it certainly didn't wow me or anything.
