You guys just see the error or can you see the video? I cant access youtube from work so not sure if it comes though or not. It is just the kid that says "i like turtles" from the gif above. I love that clip and everytime someone says turtle i think of that clip.

Mario Kart 8 is pretty great. Don't hate. Also, Smash Bros might be an equally big impact on Wii U sales. Maybe more so. I took my oldest to the Best Buy smash bros event on Saturday and it was a mob scene. And apparently the previous weeknight event was also a mob scene (a friend of his went and didn't get to play before the event ended). People like Smash Bros. Smash Bros was fun, but I stink at it. Still, playing with my son and his friend (and one stranger) was entertaining. I lost both times, of course.

Yeah, I can see both the gif and the video (but can't watch it at work), though it's not apparent from the gif that he's saying "I like turtles".

I like smash bros as much as the next guy I guess, but there's just no way smash is even in the same ball park as mario kart for selling power. at least according to vgsales.wikia.com the wii iteration of smash sold about 1/4 of what mario kart wii sold (which is still like 8m copies - jesus that thing printed money).

smash bros is the nintendo selling power equivalent of street fighter or mortal kombat. I think. but who knows anymore, not me.
 
The numbers for MK Wii are going to be completely skewed though.  For people who had a Wii die (like we did) we ended up with 2 copies since if you bought a new Wii instead of getting a used one then there seemed to be no option but to get another copy of MK with it.  It was included with every Wii sold (and still is I think) for a very long time.

I guess complaining kind of worked... it made me realize that I was stupidly forgetting that I could save at any point in the game.  I actually came close to beating it a few times on one try straight before realizing that I was making it much harder than it was.  Wow, I'm full of all kinds of great decisions this morning.

Spelunky Mini Figures are supposed to be up today, and there is a listing for series 2 now (and 1, and 1+2), but they say unavailable. Either they sold out instantly or they haven't actually pulled the switch yet. Hopefully the latter. Or maybe hopefully the former. I probably shouldn't be buying them.

ok fine. smash wii sold 1/3 as much as mario kart ds? 1m less than mario kart 7 or mario kart 64 and the same as super mario kart? ultimately I don't have any vested interest in this at all. unless portal 3 is a wiiu exclusive I have no intention of getting one. I just wouldn't bet the bank on smash being the wiiu comeback title even though it'll undoubtedly be a super fun game. at the very least I hope nintendo continues their slomo 180 on tourneys and actually supports/promotes smash at evo this year or next instead of just tolerating it.

I thought everyone hated fighting games in here anyways?

I'm not a big fan of fighting games, but SSB Melee was my jam years ago. I don't see the SSB series in the same light as typical fighters, mostly due to how much more arcade-y (not sure if that's the word I want) they feel.

Based on what I've seen, I'll likely get the new SSB for 3DS and Wii U close to day-one if only because it looks so much better/more fun than Brawl.

Oh, and because Pac-Man and Mega Man are both playable. :joystick:

sometimes I think Nintendo did everything right with the gamecube. if I were ranking consoles for some bizarre reason, like a psychopath was going to dismember me if I didn't and then mail my cut off ears to the mayor with a picture of snakes, gamecube would be top 3 of all time for me easily. best smash, best mario kart, super mario sunshine was sweet, metroid prime, f-zero (!), wind waker - soooo much good stuff. plus seemingly durable hardware design with a controller that I liked quite well.
 
Just looked at this week's sales.  Shades of Microsoft.  Madden and Fifa for almost $49 - who is going to pay that?  They're already advertising the 2015 versions of the games.  I just don't get it.  I understand the obstacles involved with having to deal with retail partners but they have got to do better.  End Rant.

Conversely, the world cup game for 28 and Tiger woods 14 for about 15 is not bad.

It's that idea where you should just keep running in to that brick wall of difficulty with your head full speed until the wall or your skull shatters. lowering difficulty to walk around the brick wall feels like giving up. childish attitude? yeah, maybe a little bit. maybe that's why I am not very good at a number of video games.

It's because it's a sports game, the game was designed as a soccer/football style game where you dribble and shoot.

The creator of the game says it's not a fighting game, it's a sports game.

That's debatable, as I really enjoyed using it, plus Nintendo is engineering a resurgence of those controllers for the new SSB on Wii U. I'd say the N64's controller was worse.

I'm okay with this. Now I can have something else on my XB1 not named Titanfall, Forza, or Peggle. I'm sure it will go on sale for less or even free on PS+ before too long though.
 
I didn't mind the GC controller and my kids love it for Smash Bros. But I didn't play FPSs with it. Maybe it sucked for that. They are definitely going to get the adapter box. Hopefully there's a bundle with game + adapter for a discount, but $20 isn't bad anyway.

 
I can't stand soccer as much as the next guy, but I'm surprised they didn't at least do a PSN version of the World Cup game for the PS4. If priced right that could have been huge.

Looking at it now I would totally agree with you, but back then I didn't mind it at all.

And why is it the majority of the people I talk to don't like Mario Sunshine? I stopped playing the Mario games before Galaxy, but up to that point Mario Sunshine was my fave. And it was the same way when talking to people about Wind Waker because eww cartoony link... people are dumb.
