I'm not much into sports games these days, but I threw my vote at it anyway for you guys. :)  It might be one of like seven votes, but I tried.

I pretty much gave up sports games after EA was dumb enough to lose the rights to make the MVP Baseball series.  2005 I think was the last one.

Heck, I might be interested in OOTP after I look at it.  Years back I played this simulator called Baseball Mogul (insert year here) and had fun in it for a couple of releases.

 
Figured no way sport sims would win the vote without rigging, til actually seeing it was against mystery point & click, if there was to be a battle of niche genres, this seems to fit the billing. (I'm actually not sure if there are more P&C adventure fans or Sport sim fans. Probably more likely the first but eh...)

I would like if Blackwell means all the Blackwell games (besides the newest) are 90% off, but fairly certain it'd just be the one, with the rest sticking at 75%. Also Real Myst would be only 50% off? Is that one of the new remakes of Myst (the 100th by now?) or something?

I used to play Baseball Mogul before OOTP, quite liked it. OOTP is about a 1000x more in depth then Mogul was on the GM side. Has all the confusing rules, full minor leagues, etc.

The odds of it winning are very, very low, considering it's up against two really popular adventure series for 90% off (Syberia and Blackwell).

I tossed a vote in for you guys, but it probably won't do much good.

The difference between OOTP and Baseball Mogul is thus:

OOTP goes for customization and depth.

Mogul says 'fuck that shit' and goes for 'fun.' It's a much more shallow sim. Mogul is fun if you just wanna play 30 seasons in an afternoon or something like that. OOTP is your poison if you're after something that more closely tries to model the experience of being a general manager.

With most featured deals the other games in the series are discounted to match, so I'm fairly certain if and when Blackwell wins all the games will be -90% (except the one that just released, which will likely get a minor discount).

That's why I didn't vote for it.. would be great if the new one is 90% off but I think it'd have to be a glitch for that to happen. Everyone should have the Blackwell games by now (except for the newest one).

I'm actually kind of optimistic about it, I don't think the un-washed masses of Steam even know what any of the other games are besides Myst and most of the people that do know about the other series probably already have Syberia and Blackwell since they've been bundled so many times. Meanwhile sports has Nascar which should appeal to the general public as well as the other racing game and hopefully a lot of the people voting will just see "Baseball" in the title of OOTP and assume it's like MLB The Show.

EDIT: I took a look at the all-time peak players all of the possible games in both categories and the only game that seemed popular at all was F1, I think it's peak was around 8k, all of the others besides KR0 were under 200 and KR0 was barely above 200 so it looks like F1 might carry Sports Sim to victory!

On the topic of trading cards, any suggestions on games giving a decent return on the cards? I have tons of games and never paid attention to cards. In the last few days, I have been tossing them on the market though. I have made exactly $12.00 in card sales since the summer sale began. Anything that gives 20 cents or so would be decent enough.

I'm sure it was presented as a poster child of Early Access back when it first laughed. RPS had done a few articles about it and everything seemed to be moving along nicely.

Hoping the sports games win this one as I'd like to give OOTP baseball a shot. The Golf Club looks interesting but that's not quite enough of a discount for an Early Access game.

I don't own it so I haven't really be following it... but bad reviews mention faked trailers, poor communications, and six months between updates are all very bad... The best review, which is marked positive is still very negative and highly informative...

I am not against Early Access at its core, and the bulk of the EA games I have had all been great in regards to updates and whatnot... but if you cannot make regular updates at least you can do is keep in touch and be friendly/understanding with your customers.

 
Garry's Mod should be banned from any more front page deals. And Kerbal again? Sigh..

.20 cents over the cost of the game? So far I haven't seen any. Defy Gravity was the closest on the first day of the sale but the market has bottomed out since (last check it was at best $0.01 profit).

Per card, Backstage Pass has them averaging .85, but the game is $29.99. I have Hard Truck Apocalypse at .24 per card but I think that was first day of the sale as well, so have to double check. Game is 0.99 (lose .27 cents if cost of the game is factored in). Agarest: Generation of War cards average .38 (loss of 7.09). Probably more but those are what I have done so far.

(If curious, most of these averages are done by looking at the lowest price listed on steam card exchange showcase for each card. So it isn't 100% accurate).

i actually just meant 20 cents per card without considering cost. I am not looking to buy games to turn into a profit via cards. I just own about 500 games and figured some must be worth more than 5 or 6 cents. I have already gotten the Agarest cards and sold them. At this point, I have just been getting random game cards and tossing them on the market as I don't see the point in badges.

They're giving more daily/flash spots to low discounts or "early access", games that would always sell at a certain price are now selling for more, there'll be a game in the community choice at the same time and same price as a daily, there are long stretches before the prices flip, there aren't any of the big publisher packs there used to be, and even Amazon/GMG/Gamefly/etc. have stopped trying to match or beat any of the deals.

So no, summer sale usually isn't this bad.

Yeah, same. I played some with a friend (Didn't even know he joined the game at the time) and he took control of my second character. Thought my character was possessed or some shit. I'm assuming now when friends join in, it tells you.

What do you mean by still? It's a flash sale..

and if you're complaining about the price, it's a charity DLC, all proceeds go to charity. I don't expect the MSRP for that to ever be reduced.

edit: While digging around in the game files trying to get my 360 pad to show-up as device 1, I noticed that the sounds, music, sprites and font are all sitting right there as normal files. (I'm a sucker for that kinda stuff)

Am I a crazy person if I am hoping that Mercenary Kings will be part of a deal before this is over?   

(Even if it is, it will probably be part of a Community Choice and lose to something terrible.)
