I rarely buy DLC since I rarely hang on to games that long once I finish the main game. But I have made it a point to never buy DLC full price unless its under $5 or for a game I really love. So far I have spent very little on DLC because of those two "rules".

 
I am the shit at TLoU MP, but I haven't played since the first map pack came out. My friends all liked the MP a lot, but they didn't play it much a month after the game was out. So I went solo most of the time.

 
PS All-Stars is cross buy isn't it? I could have sworn I got a copy from the PS3 version but it shows up as purchasable on PSN still. Guess I shouldn't wait until Tuesday morning to reconsider buying content...

Last minute waffling on Hot Shots for $3.25 (thinking this might go lower still or even free) and still can't pull the trigger on Socery Saga. I would really rather have the cart for both but I don't know if the physical for either will drop this low.

 
I'm probably the most anti - trophy person here. I even played TWD on the 360 to avoid getting a plat. Pretty sure I will go my entire life without one, and I feel pretty darn good about that.

No disrespect to those that live and die by them, I'm just not wired that way.

Is the Killzone Shadow Fall Co-op expansion out today? Anybody down to play it? Downloading the patch right now.

I don't go out of my way at all for trophies but like when they pop regardless. I was a late PS3 bloomer and I'm just happy I recently made it to a level 12. I've finished 26 Vita games (story mode not 100%) so that's probably helped boost me up a little. Man I love the Vita.

I think it's totally a fine way of doing things. trophies are a metagame. if you think the metagame is dumb, why not avoid it? I think more than anything people around here get wound up when people pick on them for their own trophy habits, not because someone else's are different. I think we all know that we have some degree of ocd about it, just with varying comfort levels.

I believe chasing trophies does affect the enjoyment of games. Some trophy lists make the game more enjoyable and others make it a chore. Usually, terrible games have terrible trophy lists in general, but we can all agree that online mp trophies are the worst design decision a dev can make.

if it's not tied with shitty mp trophies it's close for me: grindy luck based trophies e.g. 0.01% of getting x drop from y creature that takes 5 minutes to defeat

100% agreed. I never understand why those are done--it's like the developer isn't even thinking more than 1-2 weeks ahead of the game's launch, or they just don't give a crap about trophies in the first place and make online ones as a middle finger to hunters (which actually sounds more likely). Plus incorporating online trophies just shows how little confidence the developer has in the online quality alone since they're relying on the allure of shiny trophies to get people to play online. :shame:

I have no problem with someone not caring for trophies, but to buy a game on another console for the sole reason of avoiding trophies just seemed a little weird to me. That was the only real problem I had with his comment. Like Eldritch said, you can just ignore them altogether if you please.

Speaking of free seasonal costumes whatever happened to LBP doing that? Seems like there's been a number of ones they didn't realase and just stopped after there was that one bugged realease at the start of the year.

I haven't looked at the achievement list, so I'll just assume they're the same as the trophies. Wouldn't playing on Xbox mean he earned all the achievements? What's the real difference?

Back to the Future is not a complete gift plat. There are a few points where you have to do things precisely to get the various trophies.

Wolf Among Us will likely be the closest. Even that you would have to purposefully replay a couple sections to get a couple missable things.

Yeah, that would be just as silly as not buying a game because it doesn't have trophies.

 
Well maybe the fact that the PS3 version of TWD was a buggy glitchfest played a part as well, but that didn't sound as exciting.

In all honesty, if all plats were like TWD I'd probably be down with it. It's the multiplayer crap and ridiculously absurd ones that make you have to play a game a weird way that turned me off to them from the very beginning.

I remember IATCG and others saying they hated the "ding" the trophies made when they got one. It was so distracting it took them "out of the game". I was like whhhhuuuutttt?

No one makes you play a game absurdly. You can ignore the trophies like you could ignore maxing stats or getting the best build in an RPG etc in old games. Oh but I do agree with you on the bugginess of the TellTale games. I have Jurassic Park for free from plus but wont play it because I see and hear it is a mess.

i'm just thinking back to games, like the last one i didn't plat was Army Corps of Hell. I actually had a good time with the game, and got most of the trophies (including some pretty hard ones) but to get the crafting ones i'd probably need to invest another 25 hours just farming items. ack.

And.. i don't remember the UC3 plat being hard.

I obviously don't plat everything and I'd say my trophy hunting is determined by a combination of the effort required and how much I'm enjoying it. If it's easy and not too time consuming I'll go a little out of the way to get the plat on a mediocre game, but not too far. Now if it's a game that my son or I really enjoy, I'll go the extra mile and get as much as I can most of the time.

I've never dodged a game because of the trophy list though... if others want to potentially pass up on an amazing game because they can't get the trophies then great, but not me.

This would be my question as well. Not an Xbox guy, so how are achievements different from trophies? He cares about them enough to have an achievement card in his sig, but trophies are absurd? To each his own, but that makes no sense.
