Wait, live sporting events are spoilers now? Jesus Christ, what next? Want me to spoiler tag the weather because you didn't get a chance to check it yet?
To be fair, affa (and anyone else reading) should only have to be on the look out for video game spoilers in this thread.

Spoilers of anykind in unrelated threads/forums/comments are a huge pet peeve of mine.

84 degrees and mostly sunny tomorrow

They're better than Mexico and Netherlands has more issues than Brazil right now.
Issues? This is the least turbulent I remember seeing Holland in years. Remember Euro 2012 when they won zero games?

I dunno what's up with De Jong (I assume it was just a heat issue) and I don't see why Van Persie can't come back strong.

I remember one year when I was at a friends house watching the Dodgers playoffs against the Philly's. The house was filled with Dodger fans and when the Philly's scored I cheered and clapped. Well this one guy yells WTF is up with this guy kick him out. My friend throwing the party just laughed and said he doesn't care who wins. The look on the crowds face was PRICELESS. I just went to party and hang with good friends.

I could not get all the diamonds jumping down without messing up my timing on the jump. What I did instead, was continue through the level until I get the checkpoint, and work my way up and to the top right, just following the normal level progression. Eventually you end up on that platform to the right of that drop, with the eyeballs on the left. I dropped to grab the diamonds I was missing, and then made my way back to the right. You do a little backtracking, but all the enemies are already cleared out so it's just simple platforming at that point. If you die though, you start at the checkpoint and all the enemies are back, so you have to kill them all over again. At least you don't have to deal with the first part of the level. Everything in that level, other than that one drop/hover to the sword dude is easy squeezie.
Yeah I saw that opportunity and died a few times attempting to go for a second run and gave up. I finally managed to get those last 3 diamonds after going through the level a day later. Today I completed all the ghost levels and bonus levels to unlock Granny. I'll attempt her levels tomorrow. I want to complete that game and finish getting the last few golds and buddies in Mutant Blobs Attack this week.

I recall almost no grinding necessary in Dragon Fantasy Book 1.

tylerh1701 alt confirmed.

Terraria gets WAY better. There's been some good tips in here but you should probably just work towards crafting some stronger weapons. Like Breakfuss said you can get super overpowered to where only the bosses pose any sort of threat. The "combat" does take some getting used to but getting the timing down (AKA swinging earlier than you normally would) will help that a lot either.

Also don't think the comparisons to Spelunky are accurate in that if you die in Terraria you might lose a few items and get warped back to your house and you just keep playing in your world. Every heart in Spelunky is pure gold and death is much much more devastating.
Maybe it's been too long since I played an old school RPG and wasn't used to the difficulty. I'll try again later.

I also played a little of the Terraria tutorial and was having trouble completing the house even though I was following the directions step by step. I gave up quickly lol. I'll try again soon since it seems like a fun game once I get into the flow of things. I think having bosses and objectives will make me like it more than Minecract since I'm not super crafty and my imagination fails me when it comes to building stuff brick by brick. If Minecraft were Lego The Movie I would be one of those fools in the city following all the instructions while the Master Builders shook their heads at me in shame. Maybe Terraria will be like Spelunky in that I gave up quickly then came back and got addicted to it after learning the ropes. Otherwise those games aren't really similar.

I haven't been to a rasslin show since they had one at my old high school like 10 years ago. One of the people I went to middle school with was in the main event...Ken Doane, remember him? He was on WWE TV shortly after that as Kenny of the Spirit Squad. And I was all on I knew that guy and went to school with him.

I used to go a ton with my dad and my gramps when I was a kid. One time we got front row seats, right on the ramp and the Bushwackers grabbed me and licked my head. I haven't washed it since.

What a great story. Are the movie rights available?

I got touched on the arm by Hillbilly Jim at a rasslin match long long ago in Maine. I've also probably already told everyone that. And most of you probably don't care. But huzzah and stuff.

Yeah I already took him to the last Smackdown show in town. I only went to one event when I was a kid and sat 4th row with my dad. I saw Doink and Dink, Earthquake vs Yokozuna and lots of others. The main event was Bret Hart vs Owen Hart and as a kid it seemed like I saw most of the WWF wrestlers at the show.

I remember when you wrote about the Bushwackers. Who licked you Luke/Butch or both?

No idea, I was probably like four or five at the time. I tried to get people to go to MitB tonight, but no one was interested in the $100 minimum ticket price for a seat 30 miles from the ring.

I remember when they always licked some kid. The arena we saw Smackdown at is small, where any seat is a good seat. The tickets we had were $40 and about 25 ft. from the ring. We were on camera many times when they aired the show.

They haven't washed since either.

That is pretty sweet though. I've only ever been once, and it was WCW at the time. I seen Sting fight for sure, but other than that I can't recall. Definitely wasn't close enough to interact.

Oh, and can someone explain to me why Costa Rica only had 10 players at the end of the game?
Whistle-happy Australian ref gave one of Costa Rica's players two yellow cards over the course of the game. As any math major knows, 2 yellows = 1 red = ejected from game without the ability to substitute a new player in.

Hey, can someone tell me why--

Thems the rules. You only get one yellow and in World Cup, they stack like Target coupons. So if you get a yellow in the first game and then get another in the next game, you cannot play in the 3rd game. Basically in soccer they want you to play fairly and be a good sport. You can get one even if you're a bench warmer and curse at the players.

Speaking of backlog, GOG has some amazing sales on old crpgs (entire Ultima series for $7ish, other similiar deals on D&D games, Might & Magic, etc.   Only like 7 hours for the sales left, but....

I'm having such a hard time not dropping like $40 on all these series.   Games I played when i was a kid, but I know would likely just gather virtual dust forever.

Virtual Hoarding. It's real.  And it's the worst.    At least I'm not dropping $300 on steam games.

I had a problem with the tutorial with Terraria with making the house because when it said that it took walls in building the house I took "walls" to just mean the regular blocks that I would consider walls in the context of building a house as opposed to the actual "dirt wall" and didn't realize that I needed to fill the back in completely instead of just having a house with a really good breeze. I guess I was in too much of a hurry.

I gave up pretty quickly on the tutorial at that point because I just wanted to start playing the game. I eventually figured it out on my own as I was playing but the house building stuff wasn't really what I enjoyed about it. I built a really awful looking house but started going off on adventures and fighting bosses and etc and really got into just exploring everything and it became way more fun for me. After you get your house fixed up you can mostly just focus on exploring and getting materials to make better stuff and fighting bosses.

If you do the difficulty where you only drop your money you could really just go off and do some adventuring to begin with instead of forcing yourself to make a house right from the start. You'll need to make one for various reasons before too long but I think it's better if you're not into crafting too much to start off with checking out some of the gameplay you might prefer. I felt like the gameplay kept changing in fun ways as I gained more items that affected travel, and I kept the crappy house I built mostly in a cave to begin with and just expanded out from there. I didn't really care about crafting or making my house pretty, I just had my NPCs and chests filled with loot from my adventures.

The Drop: New PlayStation Games for 7/1/2014

Posted by Ryan Clements on Jun 29, 2014 // Social Media Specialist

¡Vamanos! Juan and Tostada face off against the terrible Carlos Calaca and his gang of minions in the latest game to join the PlayStation library. Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition arrives on PS4 this Tuesday. Prepare your luchador mask.

Guacamelee on PS4 features an ample supply of new content, including additional stages, enemies, abilities, and chicken egg bombs. The developers at DrinkBox have also added a new boss to the mix — El Trio, a three-headed skeleton in charge of assembling Carlos Calaca’s undead army.

But that’s not all, luchadors. Sniper Elite 3 also hits PlayStation this week on PS4 and PS3. It’s 1942 North Africa. Germany is building a weapon to crush the Allied forces. I looked up a guide and filled in the walls and added a table, chairs, some doors and furnace or whatever and torches and the game kept saying the same stuff so I quit. I'll have to read more about it and try again.

So I looked up the final two Mutant Mudds Deluxe trophies and I didn't realize there were 4 hidden characters that can be used in place of Granny. I got them plus the trophy earlier. One trophy left.

I think someone in this thread may have posted a video around its release and I thought it looked cool with the whole jumping into the background feature. When it was announced for PS+ I got really excited and then sad it was releasing last. It did not disappoint and was worth the wait.

No, real hoarding is much worse. At least virtual hoarding doesnt come with the smell, bugs and hazard of having boxes of shit (literally) fall on you. Then no one knows your missing/dead until they start to smell you decompose down the block. Thats if they can smell it over the rest of the shit in your hoard shack. I am fairly certain that is much worse.

Because you're a nerd who probably likes Magic the Gathering more than sports.
we need a video game where you lose, then you wait for another player to win by slightly less than you won some completely unrelated game by, so you can celebrate advancing to the next round, even though you lost.

Most fo those games are nothing to write home about. If you're referring to Suikoden, it's the PSP version and you're welcome to play it in Japanese and miss out on 99% of the game if you want.

Huh? I've never played Suikoden II and I would be ecstatic if Sony added it to PSN (I'm aware that the PSP version is JP-exclusive), but why would I want to willingly miss out on 99% of the game? :???:

I suppose he's meaning you won't understand what's going on since it's in Japanese.

I would like to check out Suikoden II as well. I played the first a couple years ago and loved it.

I was pointing out that it was in Japanese-only so you weren't missing out on anything. I would be surprised if Suikoden II ever got a PSN release. It would not get more than a couple thousand sales. Sega has supposedly submitted Shenmue HD for approval but nothing ever came out of it, and that's a much more high-profile game. Sega rereleases games all the time with their latest being the Dreamcast pack and Jet Set Radio but it doesn't seem like there's much of a market 10-15 years after the games' original releases.

So I'm guessing no more Monday updates anymore, and we'll just find out about any possible PS+ sales on the Tuesday blog update?

Also, someone posted on reddit an email they received about the Summer sale from Sony that showed CoD Ghosts, Xcom Enemy Within, and Thief 30% - 50% off.  So there's a few games to expect if for some reason you actually want those games for 50% off their inflated digital prices.

Hey, beggars cant be choosers! We should all be happy with 30% off of $59.99. #entitled

I see. Sorry for the confusion.

It's funny you mention Sega, since my playing Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has included times where I've asked myself "Why hasn't Sega tried to get Skies of Arcadia on PSN with trophy support?". My heart breaks a little every time I race on Rogue's Landing or see Vyse in a race.

most of july's list for us is nothing to write home about either, lol. i'd swap out two of ours for the suikoden set and need for speed.
There was stellar reception for Towerfall and Strider because Microsoft had Strider at a great price recently but Sony has continued to one-up them. Besides that, July has significance for CAGs because Muramasa is free so quickly after having been in a recent sale despite Sony saying that they wouldn't that. I think we all wanted to believe them when they said they wouldn't do that, but now it's proof that anything could be PS+ fodder. You have to think that there are not that many publishers who are willing to put their A-list games in the IGC and that we'll see more indie games and previously discounted games on PS+ going forward.

This. Skies of Arcadia 2 for PS4 would probably make me even happier.

Beat Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando last night. That game is so stingy with the trophies, so I doubt that I'll ever go for the platinum. Might go for Sly 2 next to continue working on the sequels to the big three PS2 platformer franchises.

At this rate, you're going to inspire me to start up Jak 3 to finish the trilogy on PS3.

I got that same email and was confused by the games listed. Though I've been pretty out of it since Wednesday being on nurse duty for my wife most of the time. Been getting a a lot if Lone Survivor in, which has been fun.
