The following thread are for niche-based Japanese video games by smaller companies such as Atlus, NIS America, AKSYS, XSEED, D3 Publisher, KOEI/TECMO, SNK Playmore, Ignition, Natsume or any sweet deals for those who are passionate and hardcore about Japanese video games even from the bigger companies like SquareEnix, Sega, Bandai Namco, etc.

But to avoid any messiness of links everywhere, we'll focus on games within the last 2-3 years as opposed to the last five-ten. [although, if you do see older titles on sale, please post them regardless].

The theme of these deals are Japanese video games distributed in the US by the smaller niche companies. The thread is literally for those who love Japanese games.
There will be a few Korean games that you may see on this list, such as the "DJ Max" games.

If you see a deal, please post!

NOTE: Please check the most recent page for the latest deals.

And I want to thank many of you in advance who submit their deals and their support!!!

That would be awesome. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but these are the same folks that went through the trouble of getting all of the licenses together to release Project X Zone, so who knows.

Ahh.....was really hoping Aksys would bring over Fate Extra CCC.......final nail in the coffin if there was any to begin with haha

Yeah there's no listings of Persona Q on Best Buy's site right now. Must've taken down within the last couple hours. Hopefully it's just being fixed and will reappear later.
It's odd, I JUST ordered this thru a screen I opened before work today, the order processed fine, I have the page still open and could probably order more as I can add more to cart, but if I seach for the sku in another browser (7377002) it won't come up. Oh well, worth a shot for 39.99....will see whAt happens.

Part Two of the Personal Tarot Card Collection features 11 iconic tarot cards that were used as evokers in Persona 4

what game  had  part one of the cards

That alone has me interested in this title.
Agreed supposedly it has very decent music, and decent enough gameplay. The verdict is out that it's a decent game though maybe not amazing. With Natural Doctrine LE not coming back (I was ready to buy the day it sold out!!!) I will like get FFF LE as well as ArNoSurge. Having those 2 games in a month makes me giddy since I've been wanting to play ArNoSurge (hopefully we its prequel) and FFF looks like solid fun.

Also on another note I HATE that the tarot cards are being split between the 2 Atlus games. I mean P4 Ultimax looks like a good upgrade but it's too much of a price for an upgrade (I know the story is set up after the 1st P4Arena...wish the price was 40 dollars). I have been drooling at the mouth for Persona Q for a while now so that's an easy buy for me. I know some people are the opposite and only would want P4Arena Ultimax because Persona Q is a side game (which may be canon so many conflicting stories here!!!!). Both are overpriced though as Persona Q really should be the usual 40 bucks. My humble opinion of course.

I'm sure there will be some cancellations and a subsequent "restock" of the cancelled orders. I'm probably going to cancel mine at some point. I'm thinking I'd rather get the standard edition with a $10 Amazon credit than the $80 LE. I just don't want that bag. I'd pay $5 or so extra for the artbook.

Sell nitrosmob your bag.

I've been watching NISA's last few LE and they normally restock the Wed or Thur before release. They do their CC charging about the week before release, so between cancels and cards that don't go through, they have extra stock every time by Thursday(at least since I've been following them).

Nice, preordered this. If it really is the premium edition, then this is the absolutely perfect price. If it's just the regular edition, then I might just sell if off and keep the cards (as that's the main reason I wanted to get this game).

Also, I just started up Xblaze yesterday, and that game is hilarious. The titles for the trophies were also really funny.

If you really want the CE....maybe but the game itself is likely 30 bucks MSRP now and does 20 sales often....your choice for the extras..
Alright thanks. Was expecting some decent sales at Anime Expo this year, but that was the only thing that seemed cheap. Everything else was overpriced. Probably not going to end up getting it then.

I guess they felt the stuff added to P4U warranted the price: a really long story, 7 characters, shadow versions of everyone, new game mode, etc. But whatever, a price drop will happen eventually. If you don't plan on buying it day one, at least get the First Week Character DLC so you don't have to pay 8 bucks later.

Persona Q is considered canon btw, according to the creators. Even if people don't agree on it, they do.  It is plausible. The whole story for Q could be written off as a simple memory wipe, or an alternate timeline that resolved itself and caused everything to revert back to normal. I do agree with you on the price though.

Also, WE also reached Vita Goal. Yessss.

WE? World End Economica? I'll seriously think about P4 Ultimax around when it comes out, I am going to play the first soon so I have an idea on the game and can well play it haha. I likely will jump on FFF LE though.

What else were they selling?
Aksys, NISA, Atlus, and Bandai Namco pretty much selling all the japanese games that they have out. The prices imo are horrible though. Aksys had X-Blaze and Blazblue for MSRP. Mind Zero for like $35. Bandai Namco pretty much MSRP or like $5 cheaper. Last year they had Tales of Graces f for like $15 but this year they raised it to $25. NISA had a few limited editions, not sure if they still have them online. Witch and Hundred Knights, Time and Eternity, Neptunia PP, Disgaea D2 and Demon Gaze. Bunch of merchandise from NISA and Atlus. Clothes, posters, and other stuff.

The game prices definitely sucked.
Yea.. After missing Tales of Graces f last year, I was hoping it'd be around the same price this year..

Aksys pricing was complete shit though. Seemed like everything was MSRP. Or everything I didn't have.

If you want Demon Gaze from Best Buy, I recommend getting it now! They officially have it clearanced out at 37.99 (lol), but Mind Zero is out of stock and I'm not sure if that one is ever coming back. Didn't think they were going to put it back up after they delisted it the first time.

so aksys has a sale on their store....

aksys store - $10 off discounted prices for hakuoki ps3 LE/SE & muramasa LE. $5 off muramasa SE. Spend $50+ get a free psp game!
but there isn't any more info as to what the free psp game is o_O;

Don't PS Mobile games work with the Vita? I would think so, since I always have the option of downloading them from the PSN store when I log on. Haven't really seen any that I would play on my Vita that I could already get for my Tablet though.

Pretty sure they all work with the Vita. I was wrong about PSP though. Maybe I got confused with Minis.

so it seems that the western release of the sword art online game won't include the huge new patch (adds 30 hours of content, raises level cap by 50, adds a new girl to go out with, new areas and quests and costumes) at launch, and possibly may never see it being released.

"The update won’t be built into the Western release of Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment," producer Yosuke Futami said in an interview with Siliconera. "We’re currently considering to bring the large scale update from Japan over."

I hope Namco announces something one way or another before august 19th... I also wonder if the western release doesn't get it, if the HK release will get it, which would of course give more reason then owning a physical copy to the HK release.

My guess is that means, "We're going to wait and see how well it sells before we throw our hand into the fire."

So since World End Economica has met all of its goals (inlcuding the Vita goal) is there any reason I should be getting into the Kickstarter this late, or would I just be better off waiting for the release to pick it up from the store?

Just wait for every Kickstarter unless it has some awesome physical good you really want that could only come from the Kickstarter such as some board/card games one....it's usually not worth it to save 2-5 bucks as discounts even first week usually are about this and it will only get cheaper over time.

Cool, I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't anything like that for this one (at least at a reasonable price level). Thank you.

I've been burned on enough Kickstarters that the site has lost its magic for me. I still think it's a great platform, and am glad that it can get things made that wouldn't be otherwise, it's just that I rarely pledge for anything personally anymore.
