Are there 60 people you would trust here or do you only really need to trust the one person keeping the money?
If its a gameshare, you could subsidize the cost by selling slots. For PS3, you could sell two phantoms and keep two resell slots. Total cost would be $40 space bucks, assuming a full price retail game is bought. Obviously, price pet share goes down if a cheaper game is chosen.

One resell could go to the winner of the 'lowball auction' to keep and one could be kept by a trusted member to pass around the community.

This shit is becoming too complicated. Lets just keep the thread going with stupid jokes and virtua fighter style competitions
I think, due to previous discussion, it would be best with a physical title, even if it's for only one person. We just need to come up with rules or whatever and start it up. And nominate someone to keep track of dollars. I'd pay a dollar here and there for a chance to win. I'm sure many others would too.

But I do like the VF competition. Next game?

Pick one of these wren

, then pick a game.

Pssh, I just beat all your butts: 14 minutes, 18 seconds. :whee:

Here's the list now:

Virtua Fighter 2 Fastest Achievers (add your time)

  • Vigilante - 14 minutes, 18 seconds
  • Laundrymatt77 - 21 minutes, 58 seconds
  • Wrencrest - 25 minutes, 17 seconds
  • LordVila - 26 minutes, 32 seconds
  • Rpg49ers - 45 minutes, 44 seconds
  • .Equistina- 56 minutes, 50 seconds
  • Zimm108 - 1 hour, 28 minutes
my confidence is waning.

my confidence is waning.
You can easily beat Vag, I had to play the 4th fight quite a few times, as well as the 5th. Then I couldn't get one of the easy trophies to work without restarting the game to get to the title screen.

@Velo, I may have to wait as I really need to get up with some of these guys and start playing AC:B, and have Bioshock 2 on tap for tomorrow. But I'll definitely be adding a time soon because I really want to play that regardless of competition.

Ohh, what kind of car are you looking for? Whats your budget? I fuck ing love car shopping.
Just read this. I hate car shopping. We were looking for a car for my wife since hers completely kicked the bucket. Ended up with a 2011 Sonatra. Leather, sunroof, navigation. Around 37k miles. Payment is a little higher than I wanted, but she really loves the car and we should be able to swing it.

ah. Sonata is a good car. Car shopping is fun when your going on your own schedule. Its stressful when you have to buy one. Well good luck with the car.

Yeah we probably could have found a better deal if we had time to look around more, but we can't depend on someone to take her to work for several weeks. Thanks.

Zimm's not gonna like this one, he started it like 12 hours ago lol. But I'm game.
Yeah I started ToeJam after I finished VF2 and fell asleep pretty much right after i got the 2nd ship part. So yeah, I'm out on that.

I'd be down for a Papo & Yo race if I had a solid 5-7 hours in a row to dedicate to it. I have to be the main parent as my wife recovers from jaw surgery, so that shit just ain't happening.

Boy, Tyler's not going to like this: I think I enjoyed Limbo more than Braid. :joystick:
I hope you didn't use a guide...!! *finger wagging emoticon*. Limbo is a great game. I thought the trial and error aspect worked well, especially since the deaths are so hilariously grizzly. I got all glowing orbs except the one that requires you to navigate a hidden path while in complete darkness, lol. fuck that (not sure if this achievement is on consoles).

The raffle idea is cool. Not sure if captain was just being sarcastic but he and @affa pretty much had the same idea, lol. Great minds?

I wonder why it isn't allowed. We do it occasionally in another thread and it works great. Guess I'm technically snitching right now, though....yeahhh. It'd also be cool to give something away if we ever get a Hot Shots tourney going again.

The four winners thing may be tough because how do you get four people to agree on one game that none of them has? Or do you pick the game before it opens, so if you own it or don't care for the genre/game you can skip that month.

Hasn't been near enough discussion on it so far, slow day in here. I would say that the game title and platform would need to be voted on in advance, so that everyone knows what next months title would be

We could aim for an August start-up, and go ahead and compile a list and do a vote as to the game. Then near the end of August, start a new poll for September, etc.

Edit: Assuming we go with one winner on a physical title, like most appear to want.

And if we vote something like destiny as the prize in September...the winner can decide if they want the ps3 or 4 version.
Bam, that's my only input..I trust everyone

This leads me back to another question we need to discuss to get this thing moving...Do we do a once a month type thing? Or a "once we hit $60" type thing?

If once a month, do we cap the limit at 60 entries, or keep allowing entries to go towards maybe a bonus game giveaway?

And if we don't cap it, do we allow multiple entries? Also, if we don't cap and do the bonus game with extra funding...are we going to be keeping up with who is in the drawing for the bonus or make it an overall "have you participated" type of thing?

Coming from someone who wouldn't buy Toejam and Earl for $1? Yet, has plats from classics such as Saw, Ice Age 3 and UP? Opinion negated.
HEY MAN, Ice Age and Up were a lot of fun. My daughter was very young at the time and I was trying to play kid friendly games in front of her. And since they were easy I figured I might as well finish them. Oh and I was trying to see if she would get a kick out of trying to control them too. I really tried to get her into games at a young age to the dismay of my wife. It might not have worked that much though as she only plays a little Toy Story from time to time now. She wants to play Sleeping Dogs all the time though!

Saw was just real cheap and I loved the movie (only the first).

Besides, stalker anyone!?

Judging from the poll response, going over 60 may not be a problem.

Very true.

If we get more than 60 participating per month though, what do we do with the extra? Or should we just do it like, every time we build up $60 we have a giveaway, and not worry about once a month?
I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself, I'm not positive we'd get that many entries.

It would probably be best to just stick with once a month, and cap the entries at $60. Everyone would be limited to just one entry for at least the first few days, and we can up that if we can't hit $60.

For others asking, it would be a new game so you shouldn't already have it. If we did it via PSN we'd probably need to decide on what game it is ahead of time, but if we just do a retail copy than we can just do a $60 pot and let whoever wins pick their game. Other issue with doing it this way is people will probably just say "Oh can you just Paypal me the money, or send me an Amazon gift card" which completely defeats the purpose of giving away a game.

Also, why would raffles not be allowed here?

I'm just saying guys, it may not be popular now. But people will start to participate when they think they can throw in a buck and get Destiny. And I think the idea of gamesharing turned a few people off as well.

Not sure we would get that many entries, and if we vote on the game beforehand that will keep a lot of people from entering when they see it's something they don't want or already have.  And when you talk about a game like Destiny, most of us are getting that day one so no one is going to want to do that.

Pretty sure any talk of gamesharing is against site policies, but it looks like that idea is dead now.

I think in fairness, it should be from PSN, since the prices on new releases fluctuate and it won't be exactly $60, whereas PSN pricing is gonna be MSRP. But if that happens, then the gamesharing thing is gonna come up most likely and I dont see why we wouldn't do it that way if we go with PSN. IDK man, complicated.

K I'm gonna take the poll down until we have everything straightened out and hear from Stotch, since right now it may not be a very good reflection of how everyone feels (like Matt said, gamesharing may have turned people off who would actually put a dollar in for a chance at a retail copy).  It sounds like just giving away one retail copy of a game is probably the way to go to get the most people to enter.

Also we should probably investigate this whole "breaking the rules" thing, I've kind of had bad experiences with that in the past.

True, I know I am, so I wouldn't be voting for Destiny at all. But if you get to pick your game, it would be different.

I looked for some wording somewhere and couldn't find it. I didn't wanna PM anyone and ask yet, as I figured we'd probably just do it anyways. But yea lol, maybe we should, for the health of the group.

Silly kracker, there's been a stickied thread for it in the PS3 section since 2007.

I don't agree with the gamesharing aspect. While it's nice between friends, constantly communicating to activate and deactivate the account used would be too much a hassle due to conflicting shedules, etc. I have other ideas on mind, Tyler, that I will send to you as feedback once I can.

Gamesharing is simple shit but it obviously freaks out some people. I think retail would be the way to go, just need to factor in tax and shipping (unless it is some lucky fuck that still doesn't get taxed by their state through Amazon).
