From the older gens, I think that generation's games hold up the best. I love N64 games but there's a lot of them that are just tough to look at and/or play, especially with that controller. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark are basically unplayable to anyone who's played any modern FPS.

Reason I choose this gen is because of all the advancements that come with this generation. It's the first gen to firmly establish online play. Being able to patch and update your game is another great advancement I think, though a lot of developers abuse this now. Ditto with DLC, but the original idea behind the concept of DLC was really cool. The rise of smaller indie games is also huge to me, and the Achievement/Trophy system I think is really cool.

Plus, ya know, tons of amazing games.
I pretty much agree with everything here. I would list this last gen second for all those reasons, along with another. I loved that the gen lasted so long. I really felt the gen wasn't rushed and the developers got to the point where they were consistently getting the most out of each game. Towards the end, we got a lot of series updates and clones, but they were pretty much good quality even though they were rehashes.

He's talking about the title of the thread. Though I didn't realize he stole it from Simpsons, though it sounded familiar.
i mis rembered. the line actually is "
The whole thing smacks of effort, man"

Summer of 4ft 2.

Oh, and unless it's free or $0.49, I'm not buying it. :nottalking:

PS2/GC/DC gen is by far my favorite. Doesn't necessarily have the "greatest" games, but the breadth and creative scope was staggering. It's also when I got my first summer job so I'd blow my check on games. Haha, made so many pre-CAG mistakes (like buying auto modelista day 1). But definitely discovered some incredible stuff.

@Cagstridamus If you liked Sideway's wall mechanic give A Link Betweeen Worlds a try.

I have a new poll idea. Or maybe it can be a discussion...but do you guys buy DLC often? I rarely do. I just bought the Outlast Whistleblower DLC and Watch Dog Digital Trip Conspiracy DLC (Because of a pricing error on Gamestops website) but other than that I think the last thing I bought was Bioshock Infinite's Season pass, but really those are the only three pieces of DLC I have purchased in a long time.
Most of the time if there is DLC I buy it in the form of skipping the vanilla version of the game and buying the GOTY edition when it is on sale. If I like a game quite a bit (such as sleeping dogs or Guacamelee) I'll buy the recommend single player content DLC. Most of the time I will wait to buy it until it is on sale unless it is quite cheap at MSRP (like the guacamelee DLC). I never pay for multiplayer map packs.

I am considering paying full price for the Dark Souls 2 DLC tomorrow, but am put off quite a bit that the PC and Europe get the option to buy the season pass for $5 cheaper and we likely do not. It seems like one more way to make me feel bad about supporting them that they didn't need to do, either everyone should get the option to save $5 or no one should get the option.

played out. Especially since we've now seen that it has that pixel dong game on the way.
When we all have grandkids someday (and Crunch has great great grandkids) we'll be sitting around the fire and talking about how the Vita is the greatest handheld in all of history and they'll say "Gramps...tell us again about the game that saved the Vita." And we'll say "Well kiddo...like most things, it started with a penis."

Uh...I think I'll just stay home with my grandkids and play the Vitae (Vita successor) instead. :???:

"Page not found."

And thanks, but no thanks. I'm not paying $2 for a single silver trophy.

its crossbuy, works with ps3
Doesn't matter. The Sound Shapes DLC is $0.99 per pack, has multiple silver trophies in each, and is also cross-buy. I can't justify paying more for less. I also won't play the PS3 version of PSASBR.

But does the Vitae have any games?
Well, obviously I'll be playing "the game that saved the Vita" on it since it'll have full backwards compatibility.
