  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.

I played Dishonored when it first came out and got bored with all the sneaking around. Only had 4 achievements when I stopped playing. Maybe I'll get it again and do a "fuck this, kill everyone" run.

I've already played Dishonored but not the other 3.  I think in this one month alone I'll get as many free games I didn't already own as I've gotten in the entirety of the GWG program.

 
Still have Dishonored in the shrink wrap... Guess I'll toss it up on eBay.

I played the demo back when it released. It's not a super-wacky motocross game, but it's also not a hardcore/serous one. It's actually quite a bit of fun. IIRC the demo had you in the desert, running around and over pyramids and stuff. That's a little wacky, but not completely over-the-top like some have been.

It's a reboot of the original Motocross Madness for PC from years ago. Only real difference in feel to me was that they now use your 360 avatar on the bikes, the the controls and feel felt similar to what I remember of the PC original. It also reminded me of the time I spent on original XBox with Ricky Carmichael MX (although maybe not quite as nuanced -- I remember my roomie and I playing that game to death).

There's nothing amazing or groundbreaking about it, but it's solid. If someone doesn't have a huge library of games, Motocross Madness will probably give them some good play time. It's easy enough to just pick up and play even for more casual gamers.

 
Already have both 360 offerings (Dishonored still is in the backlog as well), but don't have either X1 offering, so that's good. Strike Suit Zero is one that intrigued me when it came out so I'll finally get a chance to try that out.

It's almost like our date is trying to make up for running late last Monday by having some nice morning sex before she leaves for work and on her way home tonight she'll pick up something nice.

 
Bleh, Xbone got good GWG this month, and 360 got crap (at least from my position). Disappointing, even if Dishonoured is pretty good.

Still holding out hope for something I don't have (*cough* Rock Band 3 or Nuts and Bolts *cough*) to show up. :wall:

Doubt they would do rock band 3 since you need the instruments to enjoy the game and its harder to find those in stores now.

Good point, but let me dream. I missed the one sale they had on it 2 years ago because I thought I'd end up getting a physical copy and I'm still regretting it. :whistle2:(

 
Was totally waiting for Strike Suit to go on sale, free it totes better. Although it would have been free if i had bought it still have some GS $5 cards in the account. Guess I'll just save it for date night. 

 
Oh thank goodness for Crimson Dragon on there. I have the game, but have been having a hell of a time getting the multiplayer achievements done due to lack of players. If anyone will want to play, look me up...most my dragons are maxed.

Awesome GWG games this month!  Man I feel spoiled with PS+ and GWG.  I just wish Nintendo would get on board. 

And the Sony folks who rag on GWG selection are crazy.  it took more than a year for PS+ to have any decent freebies.  GWG is off to a great start!  

EDIT: 'Monkey Lutefisk' would like to be your Xbox friend as well if you are playing Crimson Dragon!

GWG started getting good when they gave away sleeping dogs.

 
Count me among the excited for next month's freebies. I've been wanting to play Crimson Dragon forever. Almost bought it when it went on sale but I knew this would happen sooner or later. There's only a few games on the XB1 marketplace to begin with, so it was going to happen.

 
Dishonored is one of my favorite games of recent times. But that Dunwall City Trials DLC is next to impossible and it is one of the few times a game has made me give up because it's too stupidly difficulty. The end of the open brawl challenge where you have to kill every enemy yourself is always ruined at the end by one of the Tallboys. You never get the right tricky jumps to get them all in one go. And if it's possible to three star some of those Expert challenges without using numerous exploits (ESPECIALLY the ones where you have no powers or assassins try to screw you up), I'll be surprised.

Just felt the need to complain, sorry.

As for GwG, i'm cool. Been 3 months since i didn't get two new games. Can't help but wonder what other regions are getting.

 
I bought dishonored already and its pretty cool so whoever didnt buy it should def get it

cant complain to much since i bought it with the money i got from the GS Goldmine deal

dont care for the other game

but it does seem like X1 got a pretty sweet deal though

 
If I didn't already have dishonored on ps3, I'd probably be excited for that.  It's not a bad game, but I've sat down to play it a few different times and just can't seem to really get in to it.  I really like all the games that it often gets compared to, but I just find it to be fairly boring.  I think the main gripe is the stealth seems dull.  The game really encourages you to not kill because it can effect the outcome of the story somehow.  I'm not sure because I haven't gotten there yet, but I think the change in outcome is "one way you have fun, one way you don't".  eventually I try again and maybe will see the light once I get further into it.  Motorcross Madness looks like stupid fun.  I would have never paid for it, but for free I'll definitely give it a shot.  

 
Good games for both X1 and 360 for August. Already have Motocross Madness but will "buy" the others on X1 until I get One later this year :p

 
I just want Toy Story 3 for 5 bucks and ill be happy

Maybe Bayonetta for 5 would be good tooo

or if we get a shitty rockstar sale atleast give me L.A Noire for like 4 bucks

its always that 7.49 price i hate it lol

I doubt its ever been this low but Tomb Raider for like 5 bucks would be great too

I had the same problem with Dishonored, tried and tried to get into it and play it the way it was pushing me toward. It was getting so much praise that I gave it another try because I figured I had to be missing something. So I just ended up playing it the way I felt like ( stealth until everything went tits-up) and I really started to enjoy it more. Also the story doesn't change that much if you go it guns blazing.

 
Sweet three games I don't have and I got dishonored for $6 at toysrus, oh well. Hopefully date night will bring me some bling and a deeply discounted name change
 
Can someone confirm that these GWG games for the Xbox 360 are yours to keep forever even if your gold subscription runs out.

It's just the Xbox One whose games disappear if the gold subscriptions lapses, correct?

 
I'm excited for the X1 games. Both are ones that I couldn't get a feel for how they actually play from videos, but they looked fun.

I'm hoping for the last Painkiller DLC to go on sale tonight. That would probably be my last 360 purchase.
 
Great to see two new games for Xb1.

I imagine they'll repeat the same 1 in, 1 out policy like with Max and Spartan Assult for the following month after this...

Now, onto date night with more good stuff.

no, why would that be? just like ps+, you keep as long as youre gold, once youre not, games wont work in full version

You know, I'm good with what I've gotten in the past. I see what's out there this month and past month's and I've already had it. I got mementos too so that I can remember the good times I had.

What kind of person does that make me??? And what does it mean that I've gotten it already but I haven't touched it??!??!!! I'm so confused...... :cry:

 
No time to read everyone else's impressions, but to me this seems like a really good GwG month.  2 new X1 games, which I'm very surprised by, I was thinking there would only be one new game per month, and they'd keep 2 in the rotation.  Maybe all the bitching by commentors on Major Nelson's blog and other sites actually worked.

Dishonored is a pretty good game too, and Motocross Madness isn't too bad either.

Yes, the GwG for the 360 are yours even when your Gold expires.

You lose access to playing the X1 GwG when your Gold expires but you can play them again when you renew.

 
Motocross Madness is gun and the achievements are easy. According to Raptr, with some guides, I was able to finish it in 13 hours, minus one achievement I plan on getting whenever I get the DLC. Hoping it goes on sale ...

Speaking of achievements, be sure to look up the glitch that works in your favor in regards to collecting skulls. Cuts loads of time from a tedious collectible achievement.

Forgive me if it's already been discussed, but is there a way to "claim" the X1 games if you don't own an X1?  I'd like to jump on Gmelee and maybe Max, as well as the two games for August, but don't plan on getting an X1 anytime soon.

Yeah just sign into the website xbox.com when they go free, make sure your signed into YOUR account. Buy the games, sign out, sign back in and it should show a purchase date. When you get your X1 you can download said games.
