This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

The only way I'd ever buy a Madden game is if there's a rhythm mini-game of the Super Bowl Shuffle. Either a kinect swaying back and forth or uses Rock Band instruments or whatever. I'M NOT HERE TO START NO TROUBLE, I'M JUST HERE WANTING TO PLAY A GAME ABOUT THE SUPER BOWL SHUFFLE.
BEST. POST. EVER.

I just got caught up on today's news with mixed emotions. I'm a little upset because I bought FIFA World Cup 3 days ago for $30 on Amazon and pumped because the GWG for August are all games I am interested in and don't have. That's the definition of "you win some, you lose some."

At least I can pull the trigger on some of the games from the past sale knowing there's nothing for me on sale this week.

Well with this weeks crappy sales there went another month of buying nothing, so I got the Demons of the Badlands DLC.
Wondering if Path to War is good. Hasn't been on sale since 2012.
Didn't get charged tax again, even though i was charged on two purchases. Did we ever find out why some people were getting charged tax and others were not?

If you like Motocross and you like Madness then this is the game for you.

Actually it's a fairly fun game and is a good one to have a quick play at. If you have any kids in your life it's a good game to play with them too.

Again I'm not sure how far you have to move your Xbox to connect to the internet. If it's not much of a hassle I'd do it to get a free game. But then I'm a CAG - I fought in the Oman Wars man just to get a few free games and I'd gladly do it again!

Should I just get Injustice for $7.99? I've been holding out for a good deal on the Ultimate version, but I just missed that Amazon sale, and I'm getting impatient.

Man, I really wanted to like and get the Raven but I can't even get past the tutorial section of the demo because it won't let me do what it's telling me to do.  If it was $5 total instead of $7.50 I would probably still have picked it up and given it another go later on but oh well.

Decided to get Path of the Furon instead.  Still undecided on Jeopardy.  It's decent I suppose but it has that low budget feel where it's just not particularly responsive and feels off.  Again it's a shame it wasn't a bit cheaper.

Yeah I jumped on the Raven because I had some money in my US account and it's not available over here in Australia so I figured it was now or never. I'm a little disappointed. I like the story and the setting - I love the characters too - but the controls have to be the worst in the history of the point-and-click genre. I don't know how they could have messed this up so badly and not fixed it prior to the release. There are even some sections where you basically are walking around in a pitch dark train trying to find the few things that you can interact with, but trying to find those things are impossible, hell half the time it's impossible for me to choose the one thing I want to interact with out of the three things on screen as I need to somehow control the characters neck to look at an object but not control their feet so that they don't walk away from it, but it's all tied to the left analog stick so I just have to hope and pray I get it right. It makes an already slow game very tedious.

I don't know how they stuffed it up as a lot of love seems to have gone into the game but they really did stuff up. And it's crazy because this is a genre that's as old as they come. All they had to do was look back on 30 years of point-and-click games and their controls and just copy-and-paste. I know there's not a lot of traditional examples for the consoles but the Monkey Island remakes had amazing controls. Sigh. It doesn't help matters that there's basically no tutorial for telling you how to interact with objects in your inventory (that system is cumbersome too). I still haven't made it through all of the first episode and I know it's going to be quite the slog but I'll get through it cause I'm actually interested in the story and where it'll go.

Sorry about this rant.

This sale is horrible!  But I guess I should start thinking of it as a nice week vacation for my wallet and leave it at that.  If i got as many week vacations as my wallet has gotten from my Xbox sales, i'd be one happy camper.

Seriously considering NHL 14.  At an even $20 I wouldn't have needed to even think about it.  NHL 11 is still the last one I own (and I'm still updating its rosters and playing it).

I know in not too long 15 comes out, but... $60 is a big pricetag for what looks to not be a big jump in tech anymore, and in 15 it's Doc Emrick and Ed "I Am a Giant Homer on National Telecasts/Detroit's 'Subtle Interference'..." Olczyk on the mics... compared to Gary Thorne and Bill Clement on 14 on back.  And as long as Olczyk is on the game I won't be buying or playing.  So 14 might be the last possibility for me for some time.

makes me wonder, if they pulled the xb1 sales. will they replace them? hmm maybe it'll be a sale that isn't trash.

edit : lol yeah right.

The X360 description makes it sound like there is Cross Buy:

Owners of Battlefield 4™ Premium for Xbox 360 will also get Premium access on Xbox One, offer expires 7/31/2014.

Can anyone confirm or deny? I only have it for the XB1, but also having it for 360 'just in case' would be nice.
I'm interested in this as well now that the xbox one sales disappeared. I only have the one version so if it wasn't cross but it would be totally useless for me. Odd that the expiration stated is halfway through the sale.

So besides being a terrible side effect from date night, what can you guys tell me about The Splatters?

So the Bone sale is near-launch DLC for the most-broken game launched on the console, and no actual game? I keep wondering if I'm being too picky in trying to find a game to buy for the past couple of months, then I see these kinds of sales and realize I'm not.

I'm okay with this week's sales because I'll be too busy playing all the awesome August free games with gold to have time for BF4.

i wonder if they would of went the digital route xbox one would be so shytty with the game prices cause to me all digital should be 39.99 or cheaper ms is so greedy then they wonder why xbox is not selling like it should

MS doesn't set game prices.

$30/yr for EA games, seems like a great deal
EA is finally waking up to the fact that annually releases of games don't result in everybody buying every single one. This is a way to try to pry a bit more $$$ from the fingers of the unwilling.

$30/yr for EA games, seems like a great deal
Sounds like the $30 applies to games in the vault which could be old games. Otherwise the wording wouldn't say 10% off on new releases. So in that light, could be good or could be meh.

For an achievement whore, may be a good idea to wait for a ton of games in the vault, pay for the one month, get as many cheeves as possible, then unsubscribe. Wait a few more months for more games to be added, then rinse and repeat. Cheaper than Gamefly if this is $5/month and full access to all vault games...

Definitely see potential in this.  I mean, if you just wanted to play through Peggle and Battlefield 4 single player once and get achievements, you can now do that for $5, as both games are easily beatable in a month.

Also I think it appeals to the non-hardcore sports game fans who may just want to toy around with last year's version of Madden, FIFA, etc.

Not saying I'm 100% sold yet, but I definitely wish I at least had the option to do this on my PS4.  I'm sure it will be available at some point since it's EA leaving money on the table that MS would have had to compensate them for.

Definitely keeping my eye on this, and I'm sure Activision and Ubisoft are too.

There's absolutely no way that new releases will be included in this for $30 per year.  Please don't delude yourself there guys.

Many long-time EA Sports fans also only buy a game every two or three years. And when they do buy, they buy LAST year's game to save the dough. Like I said, it's a bridge to try to get $5-30 out of a customer they'd normally be getting $0 out of. It makes sense from a business standpoint.

I dunno' from the gamer standpoint. Take me.... I want access to FIFA and NHL, and that's about it (now that NCAA as a line is completely dead). If those aren't guaranteed to always be in the Vault, I'd have zero interest in the program because there's no other games.

If there is more than one game in it I want to play then I think $30 is a pretty good value for a year, considering ppl pay $15/month for 1 game at a time from gamefly or $2/day for a game from redbox.

Looks like I am going to grab that Painkiller content this morning since the sale this week stinks.
Exactly what I did, but thanks for the reminder, I checked again and had missed the Operation "Zombie Bunker" dlc (got all the others), snagged it at the last minute before the price went back up.

Terrible sales this week, but that's OK, saves my MS bucks for a rainy day.
