MGS3 HD is so different from MGS2. :???:
Aren't you sick of Metal Gear Solid by now? I would definitely not be able to play another game in the series so soon after that plat. But I suppose if it's as different as you say, that helps.

Nice. I definitely won't be shelling out for a Samsung fridge. Either Frigidaire or Whirlpool. And definitely not GE, had terrible experience with their products before.
We bought a huge Frigidaire side-by-side from Lowe's for $800 back in February. I cant remember it's exact size, but it was a pretty good deal. If I lived alone though I would probably go with a smaller fridge like you said.

Mountain Dew? is that how you people get so many trophies? I've barely crawled back into 20th place and I'll drop again by tomorrow.

Also for rum:

I need to try that second company's spiced rum.
This fits what I think Tyler looks like, is this him?

Tyler this should be your new avatar!

In context I think those places in God of War make more sense than most games. The places you're travelling aren't supposed to be visited by mortals so traps are devised to keep people out. So yeah an architect designing these seems spot on.

Sometime I like to put situations or certain aspects of video games into what it would be like in real life and as most of you know if you ever read anything I write, I am going through the God of War series and I am on God of War 2 and I have been looking around the landscape and imagining what sort of architect you would need to build the shit in this game and how you would exactly order certain things. "Uh yeah so over here I want this platform, but wait, it has to have 4 jets shooting fire out of the side of the wall and then I want you to put a switch over there that temporarily disables these fire shooting jets about oh I don't know 30-40 feet away, about 10 feet high only accessible by ladder. Now behind that that switch, I need a statue and that statue has to have a large green orb. That orb will allow the holder of the Amulet of the Fates to slow down time to just give them enough time to come down the ladder, jump this 15 foot gap....oh what I didn't mention the gap before? Yeah there needs to be a gap. And then after they jump the gap they can make it just in time before the jets come on. And wait one more thing, I need there to be a section of wall cut out behind the jets so I can stash a treasure chest there with so I can place one of my Gorgon Eyes. Think you can handle that?"

Some of this shit is just silly.
You're talking about a video game featuring mythological beasts as enemies with magic force fields that trap you in certain areas until you defeat your enemies, yet you're more concerned about why the landscape wasn't created realistically?

That's a fact. I usually complain more than gush about how wonderful games are. I am enjoying it, but there is so much backtracking it's crazy to me. When I do talk about games I like, it's usually wow this game was great and then shut up about it, until someone else brings it up. It's hard to talk about games you like without spoiling it for others. If I sat here and talked about every wonderful aspect of new games, wouldn't people be pretty pissed off because I am taking away from their experience? I figured with God of War 2, people could identify with what I am saying and with Saints Row IV, people should know how much worse it is than Saints Row 3.
You're saying the obstacles in God of War 2 are silly. Would you rather them just let you casually walk from one boss fight to the next?

I was going to comment on that earlier but couldn't find a wording that didn't come off all smartassery. Which is weird, that hasn't stopped me before. The previous 347 should def be considered the "chore". Those last 3 should have been a glorious cakewalk of awesomeness.
while normally that would be true, there's a few problems with this particular game's collectibles:

1. there's 350 of them spread across three areas with no fast travel. if you haven't meticulously followed a map, you're walking all over all three areas again to find those remaining three. which wouldn't be so bad except...

2. there's no hud indicator that shows where they are without doing a sonar like 'ping' by pushing the right stick. that will show them on the mini map for about 1 second. you have to keep doing that over and over and over while walking around to see them.

I'm still going to muscle through it when I'm missing 3, but I feel his pain.

I think you are completely missing the point. What I said was not a criticism on the game. When I sit around and I am playing games and there are things like fire shooting out walls on a platform that you have to jump to, sometimes I imagine if it was real life what would it take and then it becomes funny. Now I did criticize the game for the amount of backtracking in God of War 2. God of War 1, Chains Of Olympus, Ghosts of Sparta and from what I remember from Ascension, didn't have nearly as much. With the architecture stuff it was meant to be funny... you know ha ha?
Sure seemed like nitpicking to me. Don't get how it could have been meant to induce laughter.

It's been a while since I've played it, but isn't there also something that points you in the closest shard's general direction when you ping?

if there is it's not apparent to me. I've seen a gray arrow that always seems to point off map and I just ignore it, but maybe it's related.

I dunno. I'm nearly done with my good playthrough and all I have to clean up is shards, side missions, and the evil playthrough on hard for the plat. I'll definitely take a big hiatus before infamous 2.

so after undoubtedly raising the ire of topside this morning playing tlou mp (hey my first match wasn't bad!) I still don't think I get it. I get the 'kill the other guys' part, but are the days/weeks/survivors part of a leveling system? the number next to my name is a measurement of _____? you collect parts for upgrades - is there an advantage to not upgrading and holding on to the parts to 'convert' after the match? what the hell button do I press to run?

I did manage to get 6/6 revives for my malaria outbreak, so that really validated my life choices.

edit - I'm totally having fun with it by the way. after repeatedly getting flanked and swarmed I can see the advantages of having a mic and the disadvantages of our whole team repeatedly going in to the same small building.

Yeah, just read up on it. The radar (mini-map) is supposed to point you in the direction of the closest one when you ping, if I understand correctly.

No, I'm only sick of the VR Missions and certain encounters on Extreme (the two Tengu encounters and twenty Metal Gear Rays, specifically). I can't get enough of that awesome story, so I jumped right in to MGS3.

It can be a pain in the ass. When I did it, I divided each island into sections using the streets as dividers. Then I pinged each section making sure I covered it thoroughly before moving onto the next.

Make sure when you're pinging that you're running along the coast; some of the shards are actually located in the water off the shoreline and you need to make sure your ping reaches out there some or you'll miss them.

Yeah this is me too. I'm just gonna buy a ~$500 fridge (top freezer, glass shelves because I fucking hate wire shelves) and just hope for the best.

I spent probably a month researching TVs before I bought on, and I get the feeling that 95% of that research was just worthless. I don't want to make that same mistake on a fridge.
They make a fridge that costs less than a grand? And with WIRE SHELVES? Where the fuck do you live? Afghanistan? I am pretty sure I have never seen a fridge with wire shelves before.

I followed the map in the IGN guide to get my shards. They break each city district into multiple sections to make it seem less daunting. Took a couple hours after I was done to find them all, but it worked well.

good god, just read what the old tlou mp trophies were. sucktown. 5 downs seems a lot easier than 3 downs and 0 deaths. but I'm a bullet / wooden plank with nail magnet.

There is one spot I want to recheck in the Neon. North East section of the map out in the water. I am pretty sure I got this one the other day but perhaps I thinking of a different one. I remember falling in the water like 10 times before making it out there successfully. I am also not convinced I got all of them in the construction area were you save Zeke.

I also read that some people recommend doing all the side missions as some of the Yellow dots can block the view of the dark blue dots. Not sure I buy that but I haven't done too many of the side missions on this playthrough.

I used different maps. Maybe I will give those a try.

I am glad I played Infamous a year or two after it came out and I read about these shard issues before hand.  I followed the map on a guide and didnt have any issues.  What a relief.  And thank god sucker punch came to their senses and included some easier ways to find them in the later games.

It's cross buy! You can make your own decision! Thanks Sony :) We love you.
I am aware it's cross-buy, was asking what platform it is better to play on. I only have PS4 so if it's best as a Vita game then I will pass.

And Tyler when you do go to get a fridge stop by the post office and get a change of address form so you get a 10% off Lowes coupon. Don't have to fill anything out which is nice

so after undoubtedly raising the ire of topside this morning playing tlou mp (hey my first match wasn't bad!) I still don't think I get it.

The number next to your name is the weeks (in game) you've played, more a badge of how much time you've invested in the game than anything else. The parts are the leveling system. Its not a 1 to 1 ratio of what you earn in matches in relation to what you earn for your level, not even close. If you look at the bottom right ofnyour screen in between matches it shows how many parts you have earned total towards leveling and how much you need till your next weapon/skill unlock.

Yeah you guys are right, that one sale we get every two months that puts a random year old fighting game on sale, and then a bunch of Lego and superhero games that one one bought was totally awesome. I'm so glad I don't live in the EU where they have one of these sales every month because it would totally suck to be tempted to buy good games that are on sale.

Oh I meant to ask, going for the plat on MGS 3 as well? Seems to be easier from what I've read.
Of course. I'm going to do two playthroughs, though, despite only one technically being required to get the plat--first on Normal to enjoy the experience (I never played MGS3 before now) and then on Very Easy to get the remaining trophies including the no-kill one.

so after undoubtedly raising the ire of topside this morning playing tlou mp (hey my first match wasn't bad!) I still don't think I get it.

Somehow I missed this post until CAiNiAC quoted it. Must be because you had me seeing red this morning.

Just fucking with you, I didn't think you did bad. Not any worse than me anyway. We're pretty much in the same boat. I'd also like to know if there's any point in holding onto your parts instead of spending them in match.... do they add more credit at the end of the match if you don't spend them? Having a lot of fun with it though and I think it will hold my interest for the most part until Destiny.

And I need to make sure you understand the longer you keep this "no mic" business up the closer you get to being thrown in the rpg/snakey category.

I might go for it myself, but it would have to be 2 playthroughs as well. Played 4 first way back when, then 1 and 2 when the HD Collection came out. Thinking about playing through 4 again now that it has trophies once I've finished 3 and Peace Walker, if I have time.

No benefit to not spending parts match. Buy armor every time you can. EVERYTIME. Night and day difference.

Just catching up a bit...

The wife and I bought a 3000 Whirpool fridge for 1600 including the warranty at the Sears outlet... love that place!  Our fridge has one very small ding.

Excited to try TLOU multiplayer as I never did when it was on PS3

Zimm, if you add trophies woo for a GM connected league and I add you, you can get the 5 person trophy.  You owe me! :)
