Hideo Kojima + Guillermo del Toro = Silent Hills

I hope this one can be at least as good as The Room. The last few have strayed too far from the course.

(About as minimal as a teaser as you can get.)

Hell yes!

Now let's get the rest of the older MGS's onto Steam!

Got a quick question for anyone who enjoy the shmups.

I already own the eXceed Collection (with zero plans to try the first one), but are the two Gund... games and Hitogata Happa worth it as well to at least try? Is one of them far better than the other two for a person looking for a few fun hours?

Thank you!
The whole Gundemonium Collection is really solid, though Hitogata Happa is the only one that's at all like the eXceed games. The other two are sidescrolling and feel pretty unique onto themselves (but I've mainly stuck to upscrolling bullet hell games so that doesn't mean much coming from me) and are really polished and satisfying, though I found some of the bullet patterns to be poor (in that there was no way to dodge them because they change dependent on where you are on screen). GundeadliGne it's probably my favorite of the bunch and also has coop (local and online) which is cool to see in this sort of game. Hitogata is a pretty typical upscrolling bullet hell game, but it has some cool mechanics with the different dolls (read: characters/guns) you can equip, and I've had a pretty good time with what I've played of it.

I can't say a ton as I've only spent about 1-2h with each of them, but for $5 if you're at all a fan of bullet hell games I'd definitely recommend them. I still prefer the eXceed games, but all of the ones in the collection are pretty great and rarely if ever get cheaper than they are now.

Oh, and it should go without saying, but they are all hard as balls so be prepared for that.

That's plenty good enough for me, and I'm not afraid of the difficulty (worst case is that it's too much but its still fun for a while). Thank you very much!

Coming from a Gradius background, I prefer horizontal right now but I will wait and see how much that changes for these bullet hell games at least.

I own Ground Zeroes on PS3 and PS4, got 100% on each. Would pre-order for Steam too. I think I'd buy physical copies of these cause I have a thing about MGS. I want them for my MGS physical collection. Give it to me now, Kojima! Add some enhanced graphics, too.

I kickstarted it as well...I beat it a few months ago

They are probably bundling Leisure Suit Larry so the CEO of Replay can shell out cash for showing a 16 year old girl a video of her boyfriend banging another dude.

Al Lowe left because of it....so any other Larry iteration will be without Larry's dad.
I thought what you said about the CEO was a joke but I looked it up. WTF!?

You and Snakeybro should get married. Think of the Naked Snakeybro Eyed kids you'd have.

Will Bioware ever come with a true sequel to Knights of the Old Republic? I'd go for that, but doubt it since LucasArts is utterly dead. No...*sniffle* Monkey Island either...
I'd honestly rather BioWare stick w/ their own IP's - i.e. Jade Empire; Mass Effect; Dragon Age; Shadow Realms; and anything else they create.

I would love for a Jade Empire 2 from BioWare, more so than anything from them - since we've already had a nice amount of of DA and ME sequels.

As for a KOTOR sequel - I'd love to see Obsidian do another one...under two conditions.

1. The game's stable - i.e. no crazy + ridiculous amount of bugs; and no performance issues;

2. And LucasArts cannot kick the game out the door before it's truly "done."

Probably PS4 will get it for sure because they had the playable teaser. Outside of PS4, probably Xbox One and maybe PC. I think if it was exclusive to PS4, Sony would be letting everybody know it.
I really loved Silent Hill 1 on PSX and SH2 on the PC.

Also, SH3 PC was pretty good.

I really hope Silent Hills hits the PC.

Well, the first condition would be impossible, considering who we're talking about, but in this day and age it would get mostly patched sooner or later.

The second condition would be all but guaranteed, considering that LucasArts is effectively dead and therefore in no condition to be kicking anything or anybody.

I really hope Silent Hills hits the PC.
That seems so out of character for you.

People really are all in favor of this Gala? Boring as crap. The only games I'm moderately interested in are Voyager and LSL.
Don't be hatin on Truffle Saga. It's nice casual fun. See, the trailer even says so.

Seriously though, it's an almost entire bundle of stuff I don't own which pretty much never happens. I'll try some of it, some of it's probably shlock but so are most other games in bundles and I maybe get like two out of the bunch that I don't own. I got some serious owns too much shit FWP so when I see something like this I am all over it.

Thaaaat looks like a mobile game. No tanks brah.

I'd probably grab it if I didn't already get RIPD for $2 on Amazon with credit. Then I just made that back (or made a bit of a profit) selling the strangely expensive cards.

I'll trade Amazon credit for steambux any day.

For me it's just the lack of any bundles I've wanted for the past month. It's been all repeats, the price is too high for a bunch of meh games, or some douche who takes selfies in a tub puts it together. At this point I have bundle beer goggles...as long as there's one game I want in it then it looks like a 10/10.

Hey now, Build a Be Mine was solid, and Remute has quite a few keys for a buck now. If that "one game" you want is RIPD... yikes.

Okay so if my, uh, friend was thinking of buying The Sims 4, completely hypothetically, then what would be the cheapest way to Fakeybro Solid Snake Eyes it? 20% off at GMG or Gamefly? Are their schiesty Russians who sell Origin games?

So Overkill, the guys behind Payday, are coming out with a Walking Dead "co-op first person shooter with elements of action, role-playing, survival horror and stealth".

The reveal trailer is really fucking boring but here it is anyway.

The price in Mexico for Standard (LE) is $34.99 USD and Digital Deluxe is $45.

They (ahem) got screwed over when Origin decided to change currency to Gringobux.

Dunno how easily you're going to be able to activate a Mexican Origin game, though... There's probably a reason that Nuuvem doesn't sell to us gringos.

I haven't heard of any OriginDB to check on region locks either. I'm sure someone will know though.

How to properly FakeCAG an EA game:

  1. Read articles about it before it comes out about how it uses multiplayer to enhance what has traditionally been a single-player experience.
  2. Tell yourself not to get excited.
  3. Get excited anyway for some reason you cannot explain.
  4. Resist buying until release.
  5. Game comes out and is unplayable as EA's servers are crushed by their own DRM choking itself to death under its own putrid corpulent mass.
  6. Tell yourself you are glad that you resisted.
  7. Wait for the servers to start working again.
  8. Read many many horrible reviews of the game.
  9. Decide not to buy it.
  10. See it for cheap in the Indian Origin store.
  11. Impulse buy it.
  12. Try to play but the servers are still down.
  13. Wait a week.
  14. Try to play but the servers are still down.
  15. Wait a few more days.
  16. Play it.
  17. Regret purchase.
  18. Regret purchase harder.
  19. Swear to never buy another EA game.
  20. Repeat as soon as they announce another game.

26. Piss and moan like an impotent jerk.

27. Bend over and take it up the tailpipe.

I know this is the Steam thread but since there's no Uplay thread that I know of I'll just post this here.

Uplay has their own Summer Sale going on right now.

Apparently there are sales that will hold throughout the week but there seem to be different sales on the daily as well.

The sales will run until the 24th.

Here's the link to the sale page.

Today's dailies are all Assassin's Creed but that's to be expected at this point.

A few of the weeklies look pretty decent with Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Anno 2070 and Street Fighter x Tekken being at record lows according to isthereanydeal.

You're doing it all wrong.

I just do Step 11 and ignore the rest, including Step 16.

They're like a bad relationship, they treat me bad and just use me for my money but I keep going back to them.

It's worth noting that even though they are really shitty about letting you know this, a number of games they sell there activate on Steam. Obviously, the Ubisoft stuff doesn't, but if a game is Steam everywhere else then it's Steam there too.

Reddit was going nuts over cheap Skyrim there yesterday but I guess that sale was just in their Euro region or is over today.

If you are trying to Fakeybro something cheaply, I think you're doing it wrong.

Good point. I stand corrected. To Fakeybro is to buy at full price with no discount and then announce it to everyone on a gaming deals site. To buy at nearly full price with a nominal discount but then act like you made some big score is to Solid Snake Eyes.

It would be great if we could have a glossary in the OP, as it's hard to keep track sometimes. That way no one would read it and we can have another thing to give the newbies, console peasants, and lurkers a hard time about.

I know that to Gilby is to see a bundle, think about buying it, and then forget about it until it is no longer on sale.

We all know what it is to Spoder.

You have FakeyBro and Solid Snake Eyes covered. What am I missing?

Just in case anyone was looking at Anno 2070... there's a base game, a complete DLC package, and a Complete Game on sale over there. It looks like it's a buck or so cheaper to buy the base and complete DLC package separately --- but the complete package is actually incomplete and doesn't include Deep Ocean.

New Bundle Stars:

8-Ball Bundle - $2.99
  • Pool Nation
  • FX Football
  • International Snooker
  • Out of the Park Baseball 14
  • Franchise Hockey Manager
  • World Basketball Tycoon
  • Total Golf Pro 3
