I finally finished up the plat for Sands of Time. That fucking elevator fight was a bitch. It wasn't so bad on my first playthrough. However, on the second, I was trying to get the rewind less than 20 times trophy. I'd already used it several times due to missed jumps from the bad camera/controls, but I wasn't sure how many times exactly. So I had to play through the whole fight without using it. Beating the monsters wasn't hard, but that stupid bitch Farah kept dying and I'd have to start over.

Also, fuck unskippable cutscenes.

I got it on 1 playthrough. It wasn't bad, I just used rewind a few times on occasions where the camera/control issues caused me to jump the wrong direction to my death.

Once I figured out a good system for fighting armored enemies the game was pretty easy overall, tbh. And keeping Farrah alive wasn't too bad as long as you fight a little ways from her; if somebody gets on her run over and kill them, but otherwise keep your distance and she's less likely to get attacked.

 
To be fair the cutscenes in SoT are skippable after you've seen them once in the playthrough. For example if you see a cutscene and then die, you can hit X to skip it the second time. But if you exit and reload your save you're stuck watching again, same if you play back through, which does suck.

 
Small Second Son update before I go back to this communication class.  I explored a bit getting shards etc and only played a few more missions, but so far Delsin is still more snarky than snotty.  I assume he will get worse as we go along, but who knows.  Maybe I will enjoy his character more than some of you that think he is the worst part of the game.

Can't quite play Tomb Raider with the 2 and 1/2 year old watching. The violence against Lara is bad enough, but hearing a two year old cry "Oh no!" each time is too much.

The kindle wasn't quite distracting her enough last night. Ended up having to watch Wild Kratts  (again) instead. Preceeded by 10 minutes of naming each episode in order to make the ever so important selection.  "This one?  No!  Platypus? No! Fireflies? No! Elephant? No!"

(Man,  Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn is taking forever to d/l)

Also, why the hell is there not a way to sort your donwload list by date? I always have this nagging feeling that I've queued something for download but never finished it. (Just noticed Max Payne 3 there last week)

I didn't mind Delsin. He isn't as likable as Cole, but I also didn't see him as snotty.

 
I can't remember, and I am too lazy to go back and look, who had asked about The Leftovers a few weeks back.  I watched the episode last night and you finally get a look back for all the characters on what was going on immediately before and during the event.  It finally gives you an idea why almost all of the main characters reacted the way they did after the event.  I am wondering why they had to wait until the episode before the season finale to show us that.  It makes me want to go back and watch all the earlier episodes again.

 
Thanks for the Target reminder. Last time they had this I picked up Lego Movie and Hobbit for PS4 for $29.99 for both games.

I went today grabbed 2 copies of COD Ghosts for X1 for $5.46 after PM Amazon for $21.50 then traded them BBY for $70 after GCU.
 
Yo Vig, for the BB/Target thing, are there limits? Like can I only do one copy at a time? The nearest BB/Target combo to me is about an hour, so I'll really only consider going if I can do like four copies.
 
Just noticed the Sucker Punched! trophy you get for launching Sly 1 the first time. What's odd is that psnprofiles has it at 99.93%. How did that last .07% manage to avoid the Sucker Punch?

 
The wife is out grocery shopping today. I may get her to try and do this on a couple copies for me. Otherwise I'm not going to bother.

That was me chatting with you about the show. Didn't see the episode last night, but will be checking it out tonight. Regardless of how much this fills in character motivation-wise, 10 episodes is a long time to stick around for it. Was not a good strategy on their as I know of very few people who have stuck with it.

 
I should go do this CoD flip thing but I'm positive it would take me at least an hour at Target for them too look into the Price Match/Reservation Card double dip, and then they would tell me no.

Limits

Target: If you do too many copies at once, you risk the CS rep denying you the PM + preorder card discount and only allowing you to get one or the other. I thought I was pushing it yesterday getting two PS4 copies of CoD:G. I suppose you can say you're getting copies for multiplayer purposes, but you still might be at risk.

Best Buy: Three copies of a game per platform per Driver's License/ID.

Hmmm...two at a time then. Any other games that are reasonably close to COD in value and return? I kind of wanted to do one PS4, just to get it and try it out when I get my PS4.
 
Something different. Derek Yu (of Spelunky fame or infamy depending on who is talking) helped design a card game. Well, he helped refine it - it was designed primarily by two others. It's described as kind of like a card game version of an RTS. Sounds interesting, but not sure how much these guys know about designing table top games:

You can buy it in full set form with counters and dice, just the cards or you can print-and-play it for free, but that sounds like a lot of work.

The trick is to ask for the games while also asking if you can price-match them to Target.com, but with the necessary amount of preorder cards in your hand (preferably hidden out of view, but not stashed away like you're going to steal them). The price-matching might be done right there in Electronics, but hopefully (because those employees might be aware of the double-dip and therefore might deny you outright) you'll be escorted up to Guest Services with the game(s). After the price-matching is done and they tell you the total, say "Oh, I also wanted to get these" and hand over the preorder cards. The employee should scan the cards and the total will be $19 lower for each copy (factoring in the $1 card(s)), then they should tell you the new total, hopefully without noticing the significant difference.

Tl;dr: Bring the preorder cards with you and only introduce them when your subtotal after the PMs is given.

Since CoD:G is the only game right now that has the preorder card promo going on, no. Your best bet is the PS4 version PMed to Target.com, with the XB1 version PMed to Amazon as a serviceable second choice.

and not to scare anyone off, but it's also good to know your store. my closest bby will shut down more than one trade of any title (I'm now on a first name basis with the lp guy) and the target next to that is always hip to the pm + coupon business. I usually have to drive to one of the others to get anywhere with this stuff, but sounds like more people have success than me so it's worth trying.

Assuming the game doesn't immediately start up like some do because no save file is detected, maybe they got to the title screen and quit before starting?

ToS:DotNW is generally regarded poorly. You could sell that disc after knocking out the first game. Same with X-2. Otherwise they're all regarded as great jRPGs, though.

if you haven't played the ffx games yet they're probably worth playing. I think the tales games are all kinda similar if you're looking to trim the fat, but admittedly I've only made it most of the way through vesperia and have just watched parts of the others.

I tried ni no kuni but wasn't able to get in to it, so might be worth sitting down and trying it for an hour to see if it grabs you.

valkyria chronicles looks agonizing, but I bet some rpg lovers will do cartwheels over it.

I'd keep all of those, but I'm a JRPG hoarder, so you might not want to trust my opinion. I own those same games and the only one I've played and beaten is ToX. :whistle2:#

I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet that Valkyria Chronicles doesn't have a plat. Regardless, I still have my copy.

Doesn't really matter. Adventure mode is something you find in the world you generate and its very forgiving in comparison to the regular game. That said, I didn't find it in me to go for the Limbo 5 deaths or less, so I'll probably leave Don't Starve alone... Unless it's a separate trophy list. Two easy gold trophies.

 
Thanks guys. I may youtube some ToS and see if I think it's worth keeping. I still haven't played ToX or ToX2, and Zestiria is coming as well. That should be enough Tales for me.
