So here's the long drawn out math, viewing it in several different ways, for those who care.

LONG RUN:

Bought PS4 (6/3/14) $400
Trade in MLB 14 -$40
$50 PSN Card (bought with Rakuten GC) -$50

Trade in PS4 -$278
Buy Destiny PS4 (using BB 10% off code) $433
Play and Trade in Destiny -$40
$10 BB Gift Card with preorder -$10

Total for Destiny PS4 $415

PESSIMISTIC VIEW:

Trade in PS4 -$278
Buy Destiny PS4 (using BB 10% off code) $433
Play and Trade in Destiny -$40
$10 BB Gift Card with preorder -$10

Total for Destiny PS4 upgrade $105

(here I am paying $105 just to upgrade a white PS4. Doesn't sound great. But it doesn't factor in that I don't need to buy a white PS4 controller now, which I really wanted. I also just found out you can use the Vita as a 2nd controller, which I didn't know!)

OPTIMISTIC VIEW:

Never Bought a PS4 in June $0

Buy Destiny PS4 (using BB 10% off code) $433
Play and Trade in Destiny -$40
$10 BB Gift Card with preorder -$10

Total for Destiny PS4 $383

(here you can see my total cost for the Destiny PS4 would be $383 if I never bought a PS4 in June in the first place. Taking my long run cost of $415 and subtracting $383 is $32. I've gotten way more than $32 worth of enjoyment out of my PS4 between June 3rd and now.)

Please tell me some of your guy's minds work like this as well?
yes except I count the $10 gift card across like 40 purchases down the line.

'hey, this $20 game is only $10 because of that free gift card!'

... three weeks later ...

'hey this $30 game is only $20 because of that free $10 gift card!'

... two weeks later ...

'so glad my ps4 was only $390 because of that free $10 gift card. wonder what I'll spend it on.'

Thanks to thermopyle and vig talking about it, just turned 21 at target into 97 at best buy.

had a long lunch today as im working late so just did it a min ago. No issues with pm, waited until after pm to have them add the pre order cards.

Called the wife, gonna have her go and do it too after she gets off.

40 bucks for 200 aint shabby.

My mind thinks more like this:

LAZY VIEW:

Be happy with your knifer ps4 $0

Have more time to sit on your couch $0

Tell Stotch to shut up when he taunts you with his white ps4 $0

When are you playing until? I want to play more, but I need to run an errand right after work so I won't be on until maybe 7 or 8.
I'm going to try and hop on tonight. In week 9 right now, so close to finishing the Survivors side of things.
I'll be in for a while tonight, trying to play as much as I can. With no Tyler stream to distract me, I should be able to get a whole bunch of games in.

Damn. I just looked and I'm at 9998 total trophies after syncing what I got in Diablo 3. I only have one really easy ass trophy for the KZ:SF plat. Maybe I should just go ahead and make that #10000.

I may join that list, but I really don't give two shits about Destiny. I wish they had the white as a standalone.
Just like with Tyler, I do not blame you if it is what you want to get. It just looks like you have barely touched your PS3. It seems like there would be a ton of games you would still want to play on it.

I'm glad to learn that it is possible to enable Perks in Quest mode in Crimsonland. Why didn't they just enable them in the first place to make it more fun?

Start a Quest level, pause, press Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square

Not sure why I'm spoilering it since how the hell is anyone going to figure that out without looking it up and knowing it is there in the first place?

Oh, and to get the last perk (you can't figure this out on your own either):

Go to Extras, Credits. Press Triangle, Triangle, Triangle, Square, Square, Square, Triangle. You get a Threes (or if you're dumb, 2048) clone and you have to beat the high score of 53,717, which sounds like a pain in the ass.

Are you serious with this stuff? How dumb.

I bought Crimsonland because I like twin stick shooters and games with 8 bit graphics on my all powerful PS4.

Oh, there still are a lot of games I want to play, but it's not like I can't own both. I'm a big sports game player, so I can justify that as a reason to upgrade to a newer system to get the best versions. I still go back and play games as far back as NES that are in my backlog, so it's not like I'll throw my PS3 in the dumpster.

That's a pretty tough score to get in threes (assuming they score the same way)  since they like to fuck you over when you're doing really well and drop in like 4 2's in a row. I ain't played it in a while, but my gf plays it all the time and her high score is like half that after getting the 768 tile. 2048 on the other hand is ridiculously easy and I've gotten the 4096 tile plenty of times.

The scoring is not the same. It doesn't use numbers, but symbols. It scores higher, but it's still tough to beat.

Actually I should say, "I think". I'm not really sure how the scoring works because I just focused on trying to combine, combine, combine the shapes.

That was awesome. And not at all what I meant when I made fun of the game's graphics. I really did buy it as I really do love twin stick shooters. I am sure its a ton of fun and I will have fun with it. All the crap you posted about perks etc was and is dumb though.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned yet that Valkyria Chronicles doesn't have a plat. Regardless, I still have my copy.
Does anyone know what is stopping developers from issuing a patch for their games to include trophies?? Uncharted did it. Metal Gear Solid 4 did it.

For a game that gets universal praise like Valkyria Chronicles, but didn't sell all that great, what could be better than making a big almost "re-release", "re-introduce to the world" this gem that now has trophies~! Maybe charge 3 bucks for the patch. The developer would get the 3 bucks for each, and also, people buying it again, or for the first time. That game is out of most gamers consciousness, but whenever it gets brought up, I think "oh yeah, would love to play that, but that's right, it doesn't have trophies darn it." Call it DLC that infuses the trophy support. I'd buy it. I have the game, and played it briefly, then moved on to other games. But if it had trophy support, I'd put it higher up on the backlog.

ToS:DotNW is generally regarded poorly. You could sell that disc after knocking out the first game. Same with X-2. Otherwise they're all regarded as great jRPGs, though.
X-2 aged much, much better than X. And the bonus features in the remake, like Creature Creator and Last Mission, are awesome. It sucks that more people don't give it a chance. In 2003 X was probably the better game, but in 2014 it's no contest - X-2 is way better.

Oh, and X-2 lets you skip cutscenes, unlike X.

Oh, I've got the two on Vita and plan to play X2 myself, but most people just dismiss it out of hand.

I can't remember, and I am too lazy to go back and look, who had asked about The Leftovers a few weeks back. I watched the episode last night and you finally get a look back for all the characters on what was going on immediately before and during the event. It finally gives you an idea why almost all of the main characters reacted the way they did after the event. I am wondering why they had to wait until the episode before the season finale to show us that. It makes me want to go back and watch all the earlier episodes again.
I wasn't sure about the show until the episode where

the fat lady with glasses who ran the pet shop before the incident was abducted, tied to a tree and stoned to death.

That episode hooked me, even though the next one or two after it were somewhat weak. It was just so damn powerful. Yesterday's was pretty good, too.

I'm just dreading that season 4 Lost moment when the explanations all become "because magic." But until then I'll keep watching.

And they had lots of Donna Moss in last night's. Love me some Donna.
She needs to wake up out of that catatonic state.

Ok, cool. i'm going to try and get in a game or two before I hit the gym, but I'll probably be back on around 830/9, if I'm lucky and join up.

Used my extra 50% trade in at GS and got 258 for 9 games. I got back all or more than I payed for all but one game. Should cover a bunch of my gaming purchases for the rest of the year

Oh just buy it and stop rationalizing ya fuckboi.

Tyler, please pay PS3 games for 3 weeks and tell us about how shitty they are and awful because they only run at 30fps. Then grow a mustache and try to molest chicks.

Simmer down, gramps.

Time and money. There's very little potential return for them to go through and put them in, drawn up artwork, etc., so if it's not a huge game/first party it's probably not happening.

Isn't there some shenanigan where you have to watch cutscenes for a trophy?
