Playing Alpha Protocol (don't hate Gator, not many "old" games left). There's so much potential here, but they botched it. Lots of neat ideas. Wouldn't mind seeing a sequel with improved gunplay.

Edit: Didn't see your post, Vig. Overall I like the game, just frustrating thinking about what could have been.

This is why you play Deadly Premonition (not very spoiler-y since this is from close to the beginning of the game):

The gameplay is more like a poor man's (maybe even a broke man's) RE4, but it's just so undeniably charming in its overall execution.
That was awesome. The way the music was used with that scene was aces. And it may have convinced me to move it up to be played next after I finish R&C Nexus.

BTW, Therm: There's a few missable trophies in MGS2 that you could easily get if you're aware of them. Check PST.org's trophy guide.
Yeah, I took a look at that last night. Not going to go much out of my way, but there's a number that just involve performing various actions one time. I'll grab those ones for sure.

This is why I hate that Amazon doesn't send out some sort of reminder before something you may have preordered is released. There have been times where I preordered something at an attractive price point months in advance but forgot about it.

If it's being delivered via UPS and is the only thing being shipped, you can refuse the package at delivery so UPS sends it back to Amazon, it will be processed as a return, and you won't be charged the restocking fee. Otherwise you're out that ~$4.
UPS doesn't go down my driveway. It's pretty steep and they're all pussies for some reason. They usually just drop my stuff next to the mailbox. Which is going to be awesome tomorrow when my PS4 comes and i have to go out and check every 10 minutes to make sure it's not just sitting next to the road.

You might have pre-ordered only to gain access to the beta? A lot of people did that and cancelled immediately afterwards. The Gods frown upon your shifty CAG ways.
In better news, Amazon just shipped my Wii U pro controllers so I'm pretty happy. :)
Preorder was placed like a year ago. I think I did it in case they had some wacky price malfunction or something.

I know you guys have already stated how terrible the Doctor Who game is, but is it worth a playthrough if I like the show?

LOL. No hate for playing older games. They are always the cheapest. It is just hard to answer some of your questions about them at times. I generally played only older games until I started my Gamefly subscription.

It sucks, but dems the breaks when you decide to live in the middle of nowhere and apparently have a death trap for a driveway.

Vig, you have Alpha Protocol, right? Assuming you do since you frequent Gamestop and it was part of the 3 for $10 sale.
I did on 360 an eternity ago (started it, got bored and played something else, got rid of it later), and I was considering it during that sale, but my backlog joined forces with my reasoning (too many other games to play, plus those games are almost all superior in quality) to convince me to pass on it.

You know what's awesome? Leaving your PS3 on overnight to get unlimited continues in Under Defeat, only to have it turn off automatically right before you were going to go in and exit out of the game so it could save all those hours to unlock said continues.

It's not terrible. Just really frustrating sometimes. Sometimes the controls just aren't responsive at all. Or you'll do a running jump, and end up coming to a complete stop and jumping vertically, causing you to just stay in place. Story is pretty dumb though. Not a lot of redeeming qualities, so unless you can get it for super cheap, I'd say pass.

If you have already bought it, then I would give it a try. If you haven't, I would wait and hope it goes on a super sale at some point.

I had a similar thing happen except for me it was my kid exiting out of the game so he could play LBP2.

Hey best keeper, are you getting NHL 15 on ps4?  I keep putting off making a decision about it.  I want to play some next gen hockey, but it seems like they're really screwing people over with all the missing features.

Yeah it was one of those games that was on the list when I was trimming the fat, but I just couldn't let it go for some reason. No harm in skipping it, but it's certainly worth playing in my opinion. The customization options are really cool, and the conversation part is interesting. Think Mass Effect, except you are on a timer. Don't have much time to think of your response. Keeps you on your toes.

Haven't mentioned me watching the show lately; watched Season 3 episode 2 last night. I really like it a lot now. Glad you guys talked me into it.

Yea.... I think I am. Sad but with it being the only NHL game period, it doesn't go on sale very often. And I really want to play NHL on my PS4 and be able to remote play from bed. Not happy though, but I'm a sucker for hockey.

I watched someone stream NHL15 (demo?) on PS4 the other day. It didnt look like much of an upgrade graphically from PS3. I wasnt that impressed. While I am not a huge hockey fan I always had fun when I played the games dating back to the classic Genesis games.

Is all of the DLC stuff for TLOUR on the disc?  Or is there a code on an insert?  Was thinking about upgrading if I can find a cheap used copy, rather than waiting for a sale.

I had forgotten that I put up a sealed copy of Mega Man 64 on amazon way back when I was saving for my PS4. I got an email saying it sold. $65.84 after fees, minus whatever it costs me to pack and ship it priority (they opted for "expedited shipping"). Not too bad. I didn't pay nearly that much, but I have to wonder if the price has skyrocketed since I put it up and I lost out on a chance to make big bucks….

Actually, I played it and it feels amazing! The gameplay itself is much improved. it would have been a damn near perfect game if it could have ported over all the game modes as the previous ones. That is why i am getting it, i had decided against it, but after playing the demo I knew it was a great in game experience.

In keeping with the prediction, theme, What appliance/device will break next at Tyler's house?

Microwave

Toaster

White PS4

Simulated Vagina

I played and finished Alpha Protocol (on Easy!)

Game wasn't bad, just not  top-tier A+ great. It had customization and brought a few new ideas to the table. would have been served by a sequel.

Werent there multiple endings? I remember going rogue and leaving the agency at the end.

Damn. Hella regretting the ending I got to in TWD season 2.
Eh. Decisions don't matter in Telltale games anyway. If you decide who lives and who dies then they both end up dead no matter what just a bit further down the line. Sooo...no worries; the apparent differences in how S2 ended will all be wiped out shortly into S3.
I was really disappointed with Season 2 mainly from what Therm said. I'll probably wait until Season 3 gets to like $5 for the whole thing.

Wow, that Strider speed run was a helluva lot easier than I expected...

Fun game if you like metroidvania style games, but it's pretty simple (except when you're traveling between areas trying to collect everything - they kinda fucked that up. Fast travel would have been nice.)
I played some more Strider this weekend. I have to say it's actually a lot of fun and the game looks really crisp on the PS4.

Maybe someone will care. Best buy gave me $150 for the old iPad 2 towards an iPad mini. The 16gb non retina display is now $200 instead of $300.
I wouldn't bother with the 1st gen ipad mini because it's basically an ipad 2 on the inside. Where as the Retina Mini has the same specs as the ipad air.

The wife wanted a smaller size from the reg ipad. $200 more for the retina mini wasnt worth it for her.

Season 1 was exactly the same, though, starting from episode 1. IIRC the first "decision" you got was whether to save stupid Kenny's stupid kid or the farmer's son. Didn't make a difference either way. The trend continued from there. There's a handful of decisions that might make an impact for an episode or two, but never longer than that, and the "X will remember that" stuff doesn't really matter at all.

I really like the story Telltale put together for S1 of TWD (I haven't played S2 or TWAU yet) but I think the games would be so much better served if they dropped the fake decision stuff. It detracts from the experience IMO because you know as you play that it doesn't matter what you do. I'd rather have a game on rails than a game that blatantly lies to me about freedom of choice.

Gotcha. Just looking out for the peeps here who might want something a little more future proof is all. I had a hard time spending around $300 for my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 because I was a Nexus 7 lover (helped it was cheap). I actually got $100 for my 1st gen Nexus 7 from Best Buy so it was hard to complain. With the 3GB of Ram and the AMOLED screen though I'm a happy camper I spent a little more this time around. It's super quick too, love it.

Yeah that's true, I think I enjoyed the characters and the situations more in Season 1 though. I pretty much hated all the Season 2 characters and their dialogue was super annoying for the most part.
Basically everyone was a whiny bitch, where as in Season 1 they excepted their fate and dealt with it.

Has anyone here played the Metal Gear Rising DLC levels? I'm digging the main game, are they worth playing? I don't normally bother but I know the main is pretty short. I'm already on the 5th out of 8 levels.

I like sports, but paying MSRP on an iteration with small changes and calling it the best ever yet? Thank you, but no thank you.

Notice I said if they had of done what they should have done it would have been one of the bext NHL games ever. but gamplay a lone won't make it that, and they messed up on that end.

JetStream Sam is awesome, best DLC of the two. The other is more VR based.

Really nice that I can push pause on a game on my Vita, put it in standby and then come back 12 hours later and the game's right where I left off w/o any noticeable battery drain.

WTF is w/ Rayman Origins. There's no Origin story here. Unlocking new characters serves no purpose. They all have the same ability and are just palette swaps of each other. At least the levels are bright and colorful.
