Nothing wrong with being strongly opinionated (especially when supported). I prefer that over people who straddle the fence on every damn thing. But yeah, Therm, I'm kind of taken aback by some of your recent impressions. MGS2 the worst game ever? lolwat. Now Batman is boring with terrible combat. Far as I can tell a lot of games are trying to emulate it. To each their own, I guess. Arkham series actually re-ignited my interest in Batman.

When Therm is bad at a game, he chalks it up to the game being bad.

Not sure how many here would be interested, but the Boss Fight book series has been really good. So far I have read the Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and ZZT ones and I'm currently reading the Galaga one. They are written from people who found the game they wrote about to be very important to their childhood and are analyzing it from their perspective now.

I funded this series on Kickstarter way back in the day and picked the Earthbound book. I put in $20 and got a tiny, 100 page book that would probably be 50-60 pages if it was actual size. I was a little disappointed.

Edit: On the website it says the Earthbound book is 191 pages. It definitely seems smaller than that.

Hopefully I'll have enough time to finish Tomb Raider by the end of the month. Then maybe on to DW Gundam. although I've got so many games in the backlog that are older and deserve to be played first.

now I've got my 6 year old watching Pokemon and telling me what Metapod evolves into. this can't end well.

Oof. Yeah, I could understand being disappointed at that price. I've been picking them up for 5 a piece digitally, so at that price I am pretty pleased with them. And now that I think about it, I got three of them in a book bundle, so even less than 5 each for some of them

$5 isn't a bad price. I did the ebook/physical book combo during their Kickstarter. I thought the actual book would be really cool, and like I said I was disappointed. The pages are small and the font is large, so that 191 pages isn't really that long.

So I guess the caveat to my earlier post about the books is that I recommend them at the digital price of 5 each, not necessarily at the physical copy prices.

Yeah they have been pretty short. I took a look at the pricing options and thought the physical was kind of crazy for the size. I guess the problem is that they probably didn't have page numbers during the kickstarter so it would have been harder to estimate if it was worth it. And I think you are right that it doesn't feel like a real 191 pages. Maybe about half that honestly

Weren't there people here who hated the Bad Juju rifle? I'm just testing it out on random enemies, and I think it's pretty sweet so far. The recoil isn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. I think George said something in a stream about it being really bad. Maybe I'm just good at controlling recoil.

In other news, I have been using my bed rest time to finally give Lost a much deserved second chance. I gave up around the middle of season 2 when it was airing, but I'm partway through season three now and liking it much more than when I was younger.

I am playing that JoJo's fighting game.  It is pretty bizarre, but so far it seems to be as easy as advertised even though I admit to being terrible at fighting games.  I wish I had read the guide better before getting started.  I kind of just jumped in since it didnt seem like there was much to worry about.  After hours of playing and not being halfway through with the story mode, it just didnt seem to fit how short people claimed the game was.   Apparently, I did not need to be playing all the alternate versions of the story levels like I thought I had to.  So I should be about done with story mode now, but I still have half of it to go since I didnt pay attention.  Oh well....

So for next month, does anyone know if we're getting Driveclub and another game, or Driveclub in addition to the normal two games? A couple sites I've found on the Google say that it's the second option, but none of them give a source to anything official from Sony.
Listen fuckboi, if you would read every post I make in this thread, then you would know this answer.

But yeah, Blue Arcana is right. Here's more source for you, too.

I know this isn't the right place to ask, but you guys all act like the GS thread is full of assholes who don't want to help anyone.  Any of you guys have the Bioshock Infinite DLC rentable?

Is it more , or less, boring than all your posts about how boring, and not fun, everything on the planet is?
Seriously, what do people like about Batman? He's incredibly flat. There's absolutely no depth to him shown in any of the movies I've seen (Keaton, Bale), the comics I've read (Year One, DKR), AA, Injustice, or even in Lego Movie. Superman has the same level of characterization (and is also boring.)

Geez, matchmaking in TLOU still sucks, even after that last patch.
speaking of which, in the sp tlou I think I just finished

the hotel in pittsburgh

about how much is left? this game feels long as fuck . I don't know if I'll have the strength to go another round for trophy wrap up.

Anna Kendrick is in the Fappening 3 but no nude pics, snakey am sad :(

MGS2's problem wasn't the gameplay or the story (though neither were presented well), it was that the entire game was a huge series of interruptions. The gameplay was constantly being interrupted by phone calls and movies and dialogue so that it never really felt like I was going to get to play, and the story was constantly requiring me to hit a button to advance advance advance advance and then I'd have a brief 3-4 minute section of play. Either one on its own would have been tolerable, but as-is the game constantly kicks me out of the immersion. I can't just watch the movie and I can't just get into the gameplay because of the back-and-forth nonsense.

The game would have been a ton better if it hadn't been written like it was by a 13-year-old. Having the gameplay be interrupted for relevant stuff would have been fine, but instead I was getting shitty calls from the girlfriend about the first date, constantly having stupid conversations about how to handle the simplest things, going way to in-depth into random side-characters like the black dude who was pretending to be a cripple, etc.. The game was just badly put together.

A good example of a game with lots of dialogue and cut scenes but balancing the gameplay correctly is Asura's Wrath, by the way. The story is very simple, but the gameplay, dialogue, and cut scenes all support that story and focus on driving it forward. MGS2 was all over the place and suffered as a result.

BTW, my statement about Batman being a boring character was in general, not specific to the Arkham games. He's just the same there as he is everywhere else (boring, but no more so.)

Hey quick question, is there a way to turn off the beep from when you turn on the ps3? I looked online and see it looks like the answer is no, but figured I'd double check

Playing through the story in TLoU since PVP is super laggy in destiny today for some reason. Modifying the hatchet and machete is hilariously dumb. For the hatchet Joel just binds some scissors near the top of the hatchet and I think for the machete he puts scissors on the handle.

Being a complete badass (and simultaneously making me feel like one in the Arkham games) is enough for me to like Batman as a character. It's the same reason I like Samus as a character even though I know almost nothing about her. #segway

Hah. Yeah, that's just not enough for me. I find most comic characters annoying because they never solve any of the problems they deal with. Batman is always fighting the same villains, same with Spiderman, etc.. Spiderman is more relatable and fun, but still annoying due to that same issue. But Batman? He's a rich dude who likes to beat up bad guys. That's all there is to him. He doesn't give a shit about the city of Gotham or any of the people in it, if he did he'd kill The Joker and all the other people he plays around with.

I much prefer short comics with a beginning and end that tell a story rather than the shitshow sitcom approach that most of the big American comics end up being. This preference for actual character development and story is reflected in my dislike of most comic characters, and hits hardest for the ones that I've had more exposure to. Batman obviously wins the prize there.

I'm stoked for tonight cause I'm going to see Stephen Marley & Thievery Corporation @ The Greek Theater in LA. This venue is beautiful with lots of trees all around and the sound is great.

Had a decent game in Destiny this morning playing Salvage. https://www.bungie.net/en/Legend/PGCR/1/4611686018429721301/2305843009217750452/289301337?_
For context, the 3rd guy on our team quit at the beginning so they were beating us easily. Then one of their guys quit for some reason. Then they got another team mate after that which was annoying since we were losing. My friend and I didn't give up though. I slaughtered their team and ended up winning. :)

We had another close game where it went into overtime and I've never experienced that in Destiny. We were losing all game and were down by 400 points with 30 secs left when the last probe spawned. I ran to it and got there first with 20 secs left. They attacked and I survived with enough time to activate the probe then it said OT and we had to defend until the timer hit zero. It was intense and we got the hard earned W.

10,000+ Trophies/Achievements!   Woohoo!!!!!!

Next up, 5000 trophies.  Then 5102 trophies, when my trophy total finally passes my achievement total!

Red Robin sucks.

And Puppeteer doesn't suck, besides the voices/cutscenes.

You're analogy is way off.
1. Red Robin doesn't suck, as I've had fantastic meals there.

2. I didn't say Puppeteer sucked, just that Rayman Origins is better. The head-using system could have been executed better, especially if manually selecting heads when doing Stage Select had been an option.

3. "Your"
