Airplane controls. You pull back to go up. You're tipping the plane back. That's where inverted comes from.
I understand that, but we're not talking about flying a plane. We're talking about a guy running around on foot. I guess it's just whatever you're used to.

You're never going to find a game that works for everyone, but it seemed like a good pick. I think myself, Velo, and rpg are the only ones left without a PS4 right?

That's what I'm saying - it's what you are use to. I can't switch back and forth. For me inverted feels completely natural. Anyway apparently the game has the option, so only naturally annoyed people feel gipped.

WAIT!  Inverted controls is when you push up on the stick and you (character/camera/plane) look down and vice versa.  Why is Backlog acting like SoM default controls are inverted when that is NOT how the camera reacted in my game.  Am I pilled up again or are you guys confusing the shit out of me on purpose?!?

I haven't played it so I couldn't tell you what the default controls are. I was just looking for info about being able to change them, since I do plan on playing it one day.

Part of the problem is also that games don't use the camera consistently even with 3rd person controls. Some game cameras default to normal and other to inverted, and then they use inconsistent terminology in the options to switch. Some games will say "Flip Camera" without stating outright which mode you're flipping to and from, or "Invert Camera" when they really go from the inverted default to a normal camera. The inconsistency can cause additional confusion because people end up not knowing what inverted really means and think it just means "opposite the default" or something like that.

Nearly all games say "invert y axis" and I think all of the 450 games I've played on consoles have defaulted to normal camera controls. Up is up and down is down.

Today's topic sucks.

I never understand people that complain about cameras and controls. Even with shitty ones like Resident Evil 1 tank controls when you play you get used to them. Unless the game sucks balls suck it up bitches!

There will be:[background=#23252b]Quote[/background]
According to Sony, there will be "non-game" themes called Crystals, Four Seasons, and Stitching available for Vita owners to use right off the bat, as well as themes surrounding three Sony first-party exclusives: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Tearaway, and Freedom Wars.
This quote in the blog post seems to say differently, hence my request:

Starting tomorrow, non-game Themes including Crystal, Four Seasons, and Stitching will be available to purchase and download from PlayStation Store on PS Vita.

Terrible controls can kill a game. Saying they're not something that matter is like saying you'd be OK being forced to eat with your feat at a restaurant provided the food was good.

Unless the game sucks balls like I said. A game with terrible controls isn't a good game. A game with controls that are different from your elite taste is bullshit IMO.

I wonder if I could review any game in one sentence.

velocty ultra: causes severe hand cramps but easy enough to plat if you're not a giant pussy
That sounds like something you'd read in a dictionary.

the last of us: everyone keeps telling me that I'm at the part where it gets good no matter what part I'm at
Better, lack of capitalization and period notwithstanding...

virtue's last reward: hands down the worst japanese dating sim I have ever played
Another dictionary entry. 1 step forward, 2 steps back, Pete/Jeff. :shame:

That's not what you said. You said you can learn to live with any control scheme so it's not a justifiable complaint (you used Resident Evil as an example, which has some of the worst controls of any game out there so). Knocking a game for not including a camera option and the like is dumb, but aside from that if the controls aren't fluid and work for the game I feel people have every right to complain about them.

Honestly, I dont remember many people complaining about the Resident Evil controls until the 2nd or 3rd game.  I know the original RE was one of my favorite if not THE favorite game of all time when it came out.  Controls didnt feel bad at all for that time.

Turns out I was wrong about the locking on from a viewpoint tower.

The part I'm having trouble with is dealing with the ranged enemies during big fights. Makes me miss the human shield from the AC games.

Also makes me wish that I had a bit more control over who I use the execute attacks on. Always feel like I'm executing the guy next to the one I was aiming for.

Overall, the battles could stand to be a bit shorter, more in line with the length of fights in Batman games, but maybe some upgrades will help speed things up.

Resident Evil doesn't have the worst controls. They aren't broken. Just because you don't like them doesn't make them the worst. Once you get USED to them the game is 100% playable. If you played Resident Evil 1-3 back to back to back you'd probably be fuck ing awesome at using them. I think most people stop playing games like this because they don't really give them a chance.

I guess I missed out on the PS+ games discussion and I'm not going back to look for it. Is Pix the Cat going to be the new trophy competition game?

May play Rainbow Moon, will probably get my furry on finally with Dust, play a couple minutes of Driveclub, probably won't touch the PS3 games or Spelunky.

We haven't officially discussed the next trophy competition game, but Dust is one contender (and I suppose Pix the Cat now). Unless I missed a post of his, Tyler hasn't commented on it either way.
