Oh man it would be good for those lego games which inexplicably still don't have online coop.

Except only the host/owner gets the trophies from it, right?
I assume so, we didnt do enough for any trophies to have been triggered. We were really just wanting to see how remote coop worked.

Not for nothing, but have you ever gotten to 100 percent completion?

I look at it and just assume its not 100 percent because you are always working on a new game, in my mind you have never missed a trophy.
I assume at one point I did early on. However, I do not typically do DLC and some games like Mirrors Edge I know I will never go back and finish. Simmias is the real 100% guy around here. I try to come as close as I can without breaking the bank on DLC or playing something for hours and hours that I truly cant stand.

Yes host is only one that get's trophies, the way they put it, this simulates having a friend on the couch at your house playing a game on your system, so even though they are playing on their system, it is really the hosts system.

This could be fun for people in this thread if we are on the fence about a game?  Sharing is caring in the PSNOT!

Have video game stories ever been good?
Some have, but that's been more the exception than the rule, and good stories integrated with action games is even rarer. Action games follow the lead of action movies, which often have a threadbare story to link together various action set pieces.

The problem is lots of reviewers think "serious story" automatically equals a good story. Many reviewers praised RDR's story line but I thought aspects of it didn't make any sense, such as who the main character chooses to help. The more a game strives for "realism" the more pronounced the flaws, like those creepy dead kid eyes in the Polar Express movie contrasting with the fluid motion capture work.

I got a Fire TV Stick too, for $19 bucks I figured why not. I'm hoping it gets hacked to run full blown android or maybe a version of linux. It kind of stinks it can't use usb for power, I'm guessing they did it since the specs are a little higher than a chromecast and couldn't get it to work on all TVs with a usb port. I'm actually wondering if I should order a 2nd just for the hell of it. Lol.

On a side note if anyone needs more HDMI inputs I have one of these which works nicely. It works with whatever device is powered on at that moment.

So according to some impressions from the internets, remote play on the PTV is improved, the share play works like a dream, and overall the 2.0 update is the tits.
Kind of glad I kept my PS TV, redundant yes but I love small tech. I'll find a use for it. Even better if Remote Play is improved. I'll be able to PS4 it up in my office. Just need to crack the box...lol.

Tonight's probably going to be a The Wire night. That plus the baseball game. And then Wednesday and Thursday nights I have pinball. However I might be able to play Wednesday night as I should get home earlier than I do on Thursdays. If we don't end up watching the Wire tonight I'll send you a message on Kik.
Yeah just message me on kik whenever you actually are ready to play. Most nights I'm free.

I FINISHED Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker! I actually like the story of Metal Gear, it's completely batshit insane but having played them back to back to back I was able to follow along. It's good in it's own unique and crazy way. Peace Walker does dial it back "some" as well, although it could be because it takes place before the truly crazy stuff. I'm at 31% in ACIV (PS4) at the start of sequence 7 and I can't wait for Ground Zeroes now. I'll actually be caught up before 5 launches. GO ME!

Other good stories of recent games. Spec Ops: The Line and The Last Of Us. Now if you want really bad and legitimately horrible check out the ending of the Bionic Commando reboot (still love the game though).

EDIT: MGS4 was good, just too cutscene heavy.

Gone Home is probably my favorite story in a videogame. It too bad that so many people pull the "not a game" argument and miss out on how fantastic it is
I think the original $20 price tag was more the obstacle than the nature of the game as that seemed overpriced for the work that seemingly went into it.

So Lords of Fallen doesn't offer difficulty levels? That seems like a missed opportunity if they were wanting to appeal to Dark Souls players as they could have pulled in those who were put off by Dark Souls challenge and also catered to Souls veterans with a higher difficulty level.

I don't know how much you followed the criticism, but sadly that was just the beginning of it. Once it started getting sales "not a game" was the new argument everyone jumped to. I bought it at $10, but after playing it I would have gladly payed 20.

The problem is with so many bundles people get a warped sense of value. My least favorite is when people equate value to how many hours they will get out of it instead of quality.

None of this is aimed at you of course, just ranting a little :p

Just go play JC2 for a few hours. I can never go back to GTA after that. :nottalking:
I played GTA 5 after Just Cause 2. I still really enjoy GTA. Its a very different type of open world game. I love the Rockstar production and sarcasm. Stotch can suck it.

Hey Vigilante, I'm "renting" The Evil Within from GS. I have until the 24th of December if I want to return it, right?

I enjoy visual novels as much as the next person (I loved To the Moon), but when the standard for smaller indie games is $15ish and you price your first retail game at $20 that's immediately going to put some people off before they've read a single thing about the game.

I should play a GTA. I'm not sure which, though. I have:

  • GTA: Liberty City Stories (PSP)
  • GTA III
  • GTA: Vice City
  • GTA: San Andreas
  • GTA IV
Also RDR and Deadly Premonition. Surprised I don't have Bully, actually.

Oh and by the way Peace Walker is a fantastic game, hard to believe it was on the PSP. I'm guessing the HD version is sweet. You guys should really play it if you haven't.

Actually, you have until mid-January, IIRC. Check the bottom of your receipt if you want to be sure.

I bought Bully and played it on PC a couple of years ago, ran fine so you could always go that route, I imagine it will be cheap again during the holiday sale.

I've got 3, Peace Walker, and 4 still to play. I'm hoping the controls and story/gameplay flow improve quite a bit over those titles, but we'll see. 3 is definitely looks more modern than 2, so I'm hoping it improved in other areas as well.

Not sure how Deadly Premonition fits in with this group...

Anyhow, I think I've mentioned this before, but you can do without playing those GTA games, especially as critical as you are. The gameplay is gonna be rough. Vice City and San Andreas are my favorites from that list though, for what it's worth.

Vice City is still the best, best missions, best soundtrack, perfect size.  San Andreas is good, but way too long, and actually way too big.  That is surprising when it comes to open world, but traveling from city to city can suck if you crash your car and end up walking for 10-15 minutes.

Just because it's a Rockstar game. I've never actually played any of the Rockstar games I have. Though I forgot to include LA Noire and the Max Payne games. So I have 11 games by a company despite never having played a single one of their products.

4 is definitely the most modern feeling (which is a welcome change) although I'm not sure about Peace Walker on the PS3 as they probably updated the controls (at least I think they would have) as opposed to the PSP version. Really can't wait to take Ground Zeroes for a spin now.

L.A Noire is an interesting game, hated the story, loved the idea... could only play through once, so make sure you use a guide if you want the plat, pretty easy plat except for the drive all cars trophies...

Also L.A. Noire was published by Rockstar, but wasn't it really another companies game?

I never really got into GTA. I played a little of 3 so far after people said how great it was, it was a letdown. I played some of China Town wars and the first PSP one. They just seem really repetitive. I do need to play Red Dead Redemption though. I loved GUN. Wish that would have gotten a sequel. I was thinking of getting GTAV on the PS4 but I sort of have a lot on the plate at the moment games wise, and that's just my short list.

haven't had a chance to try it yet, but according to the vita fw changelog you can apparently change video quality settings now during remote play if you're having stability problems.

also, evil within update: the chapter 15 arena is terrific and super fun. all joking aside this is definitely one of my favorite games I've played this year. wish I had more than 2 magnum bullets left for what I know is the impending end - any chance there'll be a few more after the arena?

Other that Liberty City, RDR, and DP they're all PC games, so no worries about the trophies.

LA Noire was developed partly by Bondi and partly by some of the Rockstar studios

I haven't played LA Noire, couldn't really get into it when I read the description.

I'm guessing it's a game that's not a must play from your guys enthusiasm about if
I'm pretty curious, but I also have a lot of trouble getting into period shows/movies, so I'm not sure how much I'll like it. I do like noire, though.

my recruiter has literally (?) dropped off the face of the earth since my last interview a week ago. can't get her to return any of my email/calls. so, I have no clue how it's going. thought I was done, but I guess they haven't traumatized me and my wife enough yet.

If you don't care about trophies you may enjoy it more, the interrogate feature is actually pretty cool and fun to experience. Definitely a rent, it is easy to beat quickly.

Totally random thought, but it seems live I've finally gotten over disliking being around music since changing away from being a music major. Damn, there has been a lot of great music released this year
