Anyone have any feedback on Castlevania: Lament of Innocence? I'm considering that and Dracula X Chronicles (I already have the PS1 SotN & Castlevania Chronicles).
It got really good review scores when it came out for PS2, but it's a 3D castlevania game so I don't know how well it will have aged. Your best bet is probably to watch some gameplay videos.

Most of these look to be cross buy too! Personally, I'm excited to play all these! Binding of Isaac with a controller finally! Guess I'll never buy an indie game on a Playstation console again

well...huh. I haven't played any of them. Escape Plan, Luftrousers, and the Binding of Isaac are all supposed to be pretty good, but Iit's definitely not the month I was hoping for. Any obtainable platinums here?

Good offerings though if you are a fan of retail games this is not the month for you.

They could have just released BoI and I would have been happy. Still buying it for PC, will play some on the PS4 and will probably get the most mileage out of this on the Vita. As someone who has spent over 200 hours on the original (slowdowns and all), I can't wait to play BoI on a handheld machine.

Glad I didn't impulse but Frozen Synapse the other day (if it is cross-buy). Luftrausers is awesome and I suck at it and it's still fun. I always wanted to play escape plan.

Considering the indies cost $15-20 each and almost all of them have been in indie bundles or super cheap steam sales and can run on almost any laptop bought in the last 3 years, there is no reason at all to buy them at full price on PSN.

This may be the month that public opinion will change to be in favor of GWG instead of PS Plus.  Both are good value, but people will grow tired of smaller titles when they're hoping for retail releases.

Yeah I mean, i love me one Xbox One indie game a month and 2 very old 360 titles.

I own all 3 Sony systems so its always going to be a great value to me personally.

But honestly, no, I don't see it.

Well they're all good games, just a shame that we don't get a retail level title this month . Especially when Driveclub is still unplayable so who knows when we'll get that.

No, no complaints - I've wanted to try Escape Plan and almost bought it, so that's a win ($15 saved). Steamworld Dig is a phenomenal game. The rest I haven't really heard of but a variety is nice at times.

There's a lot of people (me included) who would rather have an older retail game than a newer indie title. There's no doubt that PS Plus is still a good value (and now almost a necessity with PS4), but there's also no doubt that retail releases are heavily trailing off for PS Plus. For those of us who prefer retail, GWG might start looking better if Microsoft continues to release retail stuff (older or not) and Sony doesn't.

I think it's funny that ever since the EA Vault was announced and Sony said it wasn't a good value, the Vault has gotten better and PS Plus has gotten worse.

I know the valuation for both is highly subjective.

Yeah, i mean, GWG gives me games that I can buy for .99 to $5 at game stop. Love me those retail releases.

Seriously, its dumb. A game is a game. I don't care if its retail or an indie game. These are great games we are getting. Its silly because to you its only a better deal if its a game that was released in a box.

The world would be a boring place if we all had the same opinion. The packaging has nothing to do with it. I just prefer games that have bigger budgets and provide more in depth experiences with graphics, sound, etc. I completely understand that some people love indie and smaller games as much or more than retail releases, but personally, I find something like Binary Domain and Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen much more appealing than Luftrousers and Frozen Synapse.

A budget of a game does not coorelate directly with the level of in-depth experience from that game.

That's fine if you prefer the large, commercial games. But equating an indie game as a watered-down experience compared to the latest big-budget $60 game is just false and is completely uninformed.

Sounds like you'd like binding of issac then. very in depth and lots of play time.

I'm not comparing indie games and big budget games. I'm comparing what is being offered by PS Plus now versus what has been offered in the past and simply saying that for those of us who prefer bigger budget games, we are getting less value than in the past.

I don't dislike indie games. I just find that most of them don't offer what i'm looking for or what I have come to appreciate about games. I'm sure some would call me a dude bro or something similar for not putting indie games in the same league as AAA titles, but that's simply my preference. I am certainly open to trying anything (especially when it's free) and won't disregard a game simply because it's indie.

Escape Plan is fun, then it's somewhat less fun, then ARRRRRGGGHHHH fuck fuck fuck fuck ING game

You should give indies a try, approach them with an open mind and surely you will grow to like them.

I only play PS+ indie games because I can't afford to buy them, but a lot of those games offer so much more depth than AAA games. Recent memories like Ibb & Obb and Mutant Mudds, offers a level of sophisticated level design, imagination and enjoyment that shitty AAA games (e.g. Castlevania 2) can never achieve.

For the record, I hated some of them, like Fez, I have no idea where I am supposed to go.

Well, seems like you should prob cancel PSN plus and just stick with Games with Gold if you are that unhappy with its offerings.
Per my reply to your post less than an hour ago, "...PS Plus is still a good value (and now almost a necessity with PS4), but there's also no doubt that retail releases are heavily trailing off for PS Plus..."

Are you just looking to be objectively right on a purely subjective discussion?

I'll never have a closed mind to any game, but I do admit that it is harder for me to get motivated and interested in a game that looks and feels like what I played on NES. It also hurts that I am not a fan of 2D side scrollers (even newer games), which many indie games seem to be.

Nothing wrong with that. Like what you like. The "indie" righteousness continues to be annoying, but I'm not having that discussion again. Anyway, Escape plan is charming/funny but weighed down by gimmicky controls. Steamworld will last you all of 5 minutes, lol, but is fun. I have Frozen Synapse on PC and play it occasionally. Luftrousers isn't my kind of game. Soo, yep, pretty weak month for me.

Binding of Isaac, though? That's crack, man. Very addicting. Definitely give it a try. And maybe we'll actually see Driveclub this month.

Did anyone pick The walking dead for vita? Is it true it has lag issues? I really wanted to get this game, but not so sure if I should get the ps4 version instead

Ignore them. You're allowed to like what you like and most people replying to you don't seem to be comprehending your comments anyway.

Yes, hes allowed to like what he likes but im also allowed to disagree with his opinion.

Seems like people never understand that opinions go both ways lol.

But honestly, if you dont think its a good value thats fine and thats up to you if you want to keep it or not. Personally I don't find GWG a great value and thats fine too.

I feel the same. Just got a PS4 last week. Thankfully I paid nothing out of pocket for it but I'd like to turn it on before the year is over.
Try buying a few games for it, that might help. There are enough out there for you to play for a while. Entitlement runs high in some people, I know.

I have 12 retail games and 23 digital games, and am very happy with what I have to play so far. And no, I don't "demand" free games on PS+, the digital games discounts alone pay for the sub, the free games are just gravy.

fuck am I gonna buy? Driveclub? Knack? Infamous looks nice but the main character looks like an emo douchebag. I don't like baseball so The Show is out. I own Killzone but I'm in no rush to play it. The Last Of Us will probably be my only purchase if its on sale for Black Friday.

No problem with disagreeing, but he even said he thought it was still a good value in his second comment about it and some people are too busy defending PS+ and indies to even read what he is saying. Why do people care so much about what other people enjoy or don't enjoy?

For the record, I don't agree that GWG is on par or better than PS+ and like WNYX, I have no problem with indie games, though I would like to have some bigger retail titles as well, especially considering we still don't have the PS+ edition of Driveclub. PS+ is awesome for me though. I got some 12 month cards last BF for $30 each, so for $2.50 a month, I can't complain. I would be fine with it even if we didn't get free games. I look at it as paying for online play and any free games I get are a bonus.

So maybe they're "konfused" like you? Gotcha.
3/10. Maybe next time.

It's less "entitlement" (people love throwing that word around, huh?) and more that the new-gen consoles have had a terrible launch for games. Unless, of course, you haven't touched a video game in the last five years and want a bunch of lame "HD Remasters". Also, nearly every new title for the PS4 and Xbone can be bought on last gen consoles. Not too enticing. That should hopefully change within the next year.

Wow, you completed Steamworld Dig in 5 minutes? Amazing. Love to see that speed run!

But isn't this the same issue that was around with PS3 and Xbox 360 launches? Any new console will take time to get its legs - especially since the publishers and console makers know that some games will sell well enough just simply because people are looking for something to play on those consoles. I'm not console historian, but my impression is that every new console takes a year or so before people feel like it is truly bringing something new to the table.

Besides, there are plenty of very good new-gen games that are only available on new-gen or are significantly better than their last-gen counterparts. I won't argue that it makes sense to have gotten a new console in the past year, but most of us who did get one got it because it was a new toy rather than getting it for specific games.

That's certainly true, as creating the 'great launch title' seems to have died with the previous console generation. Prior to that, we used to get great, unique launch titles. Mario 64 for the N64, Halo for the Xbox, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for the GameCube, Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast, Super Mario Bros for the NES, Tetris for the GameBoy, Atari had Pac-Man, and even Wii Sports for the Wii. I can go on, but I won't. So, I beg to differ, only recently have video game launch titles been subpar.

If any consoles needed standout launch games, it was the PS4 and Xbone. While they're more advanced than the previous consoles, it wasn't the all-out impressive technological leap from, say, the PS2 to PS3.

The PS4 and Xbox One obviously didn't need standout launch games since they are selling better than PS3/Xbox 360 launches. The problem is that there are now more gamers and many of those gamers are now older and have more disposable income, so when a new console comes out, many people (such as myself) will buy it simply because it's new and not because there is a truly compelling reason. This mentality is not only in game consoles as is evident by Apple devices, 4k TV's, etc. As long as people (like me) will buy a console mostly just because it's new, there's little incentive for manufacturers and publishers to provide compelling games until later when the newness wears off.

I just want a more stable psn if i want a meh indie game i will buy it. I want to game maybe 360 spoiled me but dang psn and ps4 ui is so unstable often enough for most people. To bad fans stickup for it why would they improve then... Sad but hey whats new...

This is true. When 360/PS3 came out I was in school still and couldn't afford it. I had to wait a few years to get a new system. This time around I have a good job and I bought my PS4 only a few months after launch. So far all the PS4 games I've played were available on last gen consoles too.
