as far as the ending goes ...
I guess the first time you wake up you're still in ruvik's world. the second time is purportedly the real world - but how was kidman in ruvik's world if she wasn't hooked up to anything? and why is assassin's creed dude walking by in the background? then you wake up the third time in that same room and there's a few/bunch of folks dead in the other tubs including (presumably) at least one cop that came to investigate and that doctor, but then a bunch of police/swat/whatever bust in to (I guess) make sure you're ok like it's only been a couple hours? and if it's been days - why did they wait so long to look for you? and why didn't anyone clean up the crime scene by then? gross! and when kidman said something like 'you don't know what (leslie) will become' was she talking about the doofy end game monster? or something else we have yet to see? SO MANY MEANINGLESS QUESTIONS

can't speak to the wife thing, I caught something about it and just thought 'well I guess they'll focus on that later' and moved on. didn't realize they hadn't later on.

I'm glad other folks have enjoyed it, it's too bad tyler hated it so much as I think it really is an excellent spiritual successor to re4 (which I think he likes quite a bit). hope anyone that's interested gets to try it sooner rather than later and sticks with it. totally worth it.
More ending stuff:

I won't take credit for the following theories as I googled around trying to make sense of the story and found some good ideas. I'm pretty sure what happens at the end is Ruvik enter's Leslie's body and escapes. I also assumed that the second time you wake up was in the real world, but why are there dead bodies all around like when you first got there? Unless Kidman's people killed them all for no good reason. Although I'm pretty sure the bodies in that one hallway (that you saw Ruvik kill on security footage) were still there, too. Since Ruvik was only ever a brain, he couldn't have really killed them. Which makes me think you were already in the machine when you see that footage and that you are still in the machine when you walk by the bodies that are still there.

An alternative theory to all this is that I have put way more thought into this story than the people who wrote it.

Sony just cant get right it seems.

I really want the new z3 compact, but the pricing on it is too high. I dont do contracts so I buy phones out right. My HTC One (m7, the original) is still a great phone and its the google play edition so it gets android L pretty soon, so not much reason right now to buy a new phone, but that compact is sexy. Plus the remote play option on it looks fantastic.
Sony and Microsoft really need to spin off their game divisions into separate companies. Playstation Inc and Xboner Inc.

Sounds like The Evil Within (sorry gator, I meant TEW) has a serious case of "Let's out a bunch of random shit that makes zero sense in our game, but do it just cleverly enough that the player will think we're onto something. This way they can make up the story themselves and we don't have to."

I think that this is probably the most plausible theory.

are we sure ruvik is just a brain? I mean, when we wake up in the 'real world' we don't know what we're hooked to, we just know the asylum is a mess and leslie is gone and walks right past everyone (and vanishes I guess). I'm still not clear if leslie is a girl or a boy. and I know I missed this but someone mentioned it in passing - what's the deal with the safe room nurse?

you're right about the cops ruvik killed in the hall still being there in the 'real world' though (unless they're different cops, I'm not going to try and find the intro footage to compare. yet).

FTFY :headache:

I don't really care about having the latest and greatest phone, but that z3 compact does look pretty sweet. Of course a Vita would be the much cheaper option if I'm just looking for remote play, but something about being able to do that with your phone is just awesome.

yep! pretty sure mikami isn't known for his down to earth, sense-making storytelling/direction. vanquish's story may have made sense, I wouldn't know because I was too busy watching it be awesome.

wasn't there some sort of guaranteed tiv for evil within at gamestop? thinking about doing an even trade for that vita tales game. currently it shows $30 online which doesn't seem right.

This will sound douche-y, but in watching that one Youtube guy's fake-Akumu videos, I can still see spots where he's definitely not making the best decisions with regards to ammo conservation--decisions that shouldn't change for whatever difficulty you're on.

Specifically, why shoot the two giants in Ch. 6 when you can have your invincible partner kill them for you while you hide? Why use the rifle against the guys dragging your partner in the same chapter when a single Flash Bolt "kills" both of them in one shot?

Yup, $40 (+ 10% of the base if you're a PUR member) for the PS4/XB1 versions through 11/12. Scroll down on this page and you should see it among the banners.

If you guys never checked out Edan then listen to these 2 songs. He's just finishing up a tour with DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist.
If only your taste in food was as good as it is in music.

3.3 million Ps4s sold in the last 3 months, wow!
Speaking of which, I guess I'm the only who's just noticing X1 is going for 349 with a bundled game?!? Apologies if this was already mentioned. The hell, though. That is insane. MS going for broke lol. Wonder if it'll help close the gap any. Don't normally care but holiday NPDs will be really interesting.

The z3 and z3 compact though have a much better remote play implementation from what Ive seen. Using an actual DS4 to play versus the controls on the vita.

I have a vita, the remote play on it is ok, but it wont ever be as good as using an actual controller.

I think I'm the one who mentioned the nurse.

All there really is to say about her, I think, is that when you wake up at the end she seems to be the technician or whatever that was monitoring you while you were hooked up to the machine.

If you haven't been scared off of Rest mode (so far I haven't had any problems starting up the console. YMMV) you can start the download now and have it ready when you get home.

I'll never knock a Sony phone. They've been making nice ones since the Ericsson days, and I've read a number of great user impressions about remote play. But I'm not exaggerating when I say I never see them. Not in stores. Not in commercials. And certainly not on other people. They have virtually no precense here. Zero. Hell, I don't even know what OS they run (assuming an android fork). Unfortunate as their designs have a very premium feel and rival much of Apple's output.

*Shameless sidenote for iPhone users who bank with Wells Fargo. I did it, takes seconds.*

Wells Fargo credit card users can receive $20 credits, while debit and prepaid card users can receive $10 credits simply by using their iPhone 6 or 6 Plus to complete an Apple Pay purchase on their cards through November 30.

On the one hand, I'm glad to see them doing anything with the franchise, even if it's just a years-late PC port. More Valkyria for more people is always a good thing.
On the other hand, I am envious as hell of those people for getting Steam Achievements with this version. MGS4 finally got trophies but VC languishes? <sobs bitterly>
It's especially weird since there is no downloadable version of the PS3 version, surely that would take far less effort than doing a PC version?

Some dude in the collection thread has over 650 Wii games. I can't even imagine how many of those are absolute garbage. Shit, I hacked my Wii and I can't even think of a quarter of that number of games that I'd want to play for free.

The Wii library has a lot of good to great games (and I now own most of them), but it's nowhere near 650 or even half that.

vita tv (white - jp) is $60 at play asia. works with us accounts after firmware update. they also have a bundle with memory card and controller for $100.

incidentally saw the 8gb vita memory card on 'as is' clearance for $5 at a local target.
Where did you see the US account thing? I knew a lot of people were asking if that would work once it launched here, but I never saw anyone confirm that it did (on a Japanese model).

in the email from play asia actually. as of the current firmware - so basically make a jp account, update firmware, restore factory settings, login with your us account and voila.

Yeah, Sony sucks. They just can't seem to figure it out. Wish they would have spun off the gaming division a year ago when the PS4 launched.

Hooray for the PS4! I played Stealth Inc. for 5 minutes and didn't pass the level yesterday and I played ACIV and failed a mission about 6 or 7 times. It was a shitty gaming day.

My food taste are perfectly fine and today is 50 cent corn dogs; I'm not talking about the shitty rapper.
Saddest thing is there are not a ton of Sonics in Denver... I used to live in a small mountain town and we had a Sonic, but some of the major suburbs and such don't have a Sonic, it's a shame :( I love Sonic Happy Hour!!!!!

It's worth noting that you can get damaged box US PS TVs for under $80 at amazon warehouse deals. I'd probably go that route if I was going to get one, but $80 is still too much. Once they drop to $50 I'm in.

Most of Sonics food isn't that great. The thing Sonic has that's going for them is their drinks. The happy hour is the best.

Actually I don't mind their food, i love that the full menu is available all day and quite the variety, add in the amazing drinks and I love Sonic

I love Chipotle, but tonight is Halloween and I'll be taking the boys around to gather up way too much candy. I won't be at Chipotle tonight, $3 burritos or not.
