so, actual human beings who have played ac:unity:

are the performance issues as pronounced as the exaggerated internet would have you believe? please advise.
I streamed a bunch of it yesterday. I don't really think it's that much buggier than previous AC games. It's certainly not unplayable or anything.

Is it possible you've just been playing it more frequently and so it feels like you're running out of power faster?
well of course. my free time hasn't changed though so it at least makes me wonder. my 1000 I could play 3 nights in a row and barely get it halfway down but not with the 2000. but like you (basically) said, it's less likely the battery being worse and more likely a subtle change in my behavior.

I have been carrying it with me to work more often and maybe it's searching for wifi or the screen is turning on in the case or who knows what.

Do you ever play the Vita in Flight Mode when you're not going to do anything online? I found that that helps with extending the battery life, and it takes seconds to do.

I guess that's my point - I've never had any need to until I got the 2000. not that I'm running out or anything, but I always play at fullish brightness, sound off, wifi on. I usually don't play more than 3 hours in a day anyhow and there's no reason it shouldn't last that long with everything up.

By any chance do you have a different setting for that low power mode than you used on the Vita-1000? You know, the confusing one that should be off if you want it on or vice versa.

It also might depend on the games you're playing. I noticed a far higher power-consumption rate while playing Killzone Mercenary compared to stuff like Pix the Cat.

Yeah I'd have to agree with this...I've notice battery drain difference with certain titles over others.

jesus guys I'm trying to tell you that the vita 2000 is a train wreck piece of shit, stop trying to logic me out of it!!!
Just as another viewpoint, I like the 2000 better myself. The battery has definitely been much improved for me. I played the Vita much more not long after I got it for long stretches due to all the JP games that a friend sent me. I would have had to almost play with it plugged in the whole time if it has been my old one.

The screen does seem slightly less vibrant in terms of colors, but that is something I did not mind giving up. I had already played Rayman Origins on my old one so now it doesn't matter anyway :)

Yes, I know TAFKAP was not completely serious here about it being a POS

Ya know something like the DEKA vita thing might be cool if it was just the screen maybe 10 inches without the controls similar to a digital picture frame. So you bring it with you somewhere clamp it into the screen and you have your Dual Shock 3 or 4 ready to go. I'd bring that shit to work.

K, standings are finally updated in the OP.  I think everyone has done their Day 2 run except Blabadon.  Neither crunch nor I can update stores til later tonight but we should have updated standing by later this evening now that the spreadsheets are all set up.

Yeah, you have to admit that MS are bringing their A game for the holidays. Damn fine bundle prices plus and a pretty heavy marketing campaign (though I'm surprised at how few commercials I've seen for Master Chief collection compared to Sunset Overdrive.. that is a definite system seller).

I've said a few times that, in my mind anyway, MS definitely has the upper hand so far with AAA exclusives. I've enjoyed Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall, and even Ryse a lot more than Killzone, Infamous, and.. um, that might be it (Actually I sunk a decent amount of time into The Last of Us again, not sure whether that counts). Even on the horizon, I'm more excited about Quantum Break, Halo 5, Tomb Raider, and maybe Crackdown than I am for The Order, Bloodborne, and, um.. well there is Uncharted 4. I expect that will be great and I am excited for that.

The one area that Sony is just embarrassing MS, though, is the smallish Indie titles. There are tons of quality releases every week whereas the MS store has gone weeks without anything new. I know for a lot of people in this thread that is more important.

I've been a Sony guy since I was a kid and traded in my N64 for a PS1 at Funcoland. Bought a PS3 at launch for $600 and had next to nothing to play on it for a year. I am just disappointed in there slate of big console exclusives at the moment. I know they're coming, but I have to admit while I wait MS is delivering the goods on that front.
Ryse over inFamous? Whut? You fanboy.

I've never encountered the battery issues you're having with the 2000. I never had the old one for a comparison...but it seems like I can play the 2000 off and on all day long without the battery dying. And no, I didn't change any 'power' settings, etc. Maybe yours just has a bad battery?

Just a note... you really should bump everybody's score on day 1 in novice division by 1 with the exception of mpaulin. Otherwise, every spot on Day 1 will be worth less than the same spot on the rest of the days creating an artificial penalty for being in by the deadline.

K so Walmart has an Xboner + Master Chief Collection + $30 Gift Card for $329, and they're guaranteeing it for an HOUR!

This is the biggest console bomba I remember ever seeing.  Just over a year ago we're looking at $500 for Xbox One, now its $329 - $30 GC -$45 resell on MCC = $254 and basically anyone who wants one can get one with that guarantee.  Essentially 50% off just one year later!!!

What's weird is that Xbone isn't doing that bad, especially in the US, it's just that they're getting trounced by the PS4.  I wish the WiiU had been this aggressive with their pricing after struggling so bad out of the gate.

Craziness.  If I hadn't been royally fucked and banned by MS, I'd be considering an Xbox One this holiday season.  If PS4 wins November and December NPD it will be a miracle.

AGREE! I am actually seeing that and wondering how I can get some money together to get one... the price is insane!!

Yea Phil Spence said in an interview I watched that he doesn't solely want to make money, but also WIN. That is exactly what they are trying bringing the price so low less than a year after launch. I wonder if this is bad for all the people who have already bought an xbox or recently bought one?

If PS4 sells more over the holidays, xbox will never sell more than PS4... not with the rice drops and deals MS is doing.

IDK, This is a Black Friday 1 hour deal. Sure they will move a bunch but you can get a PS4 for $60 more and two games. I guess for those who are going to own both and don't already have a XBox One this will get them or those solidly XBox for life. But for those only getting one or the other this holiday season not sure this great 1 hour sales is going to be that big a deal in the final numbers.

Will be interesting to see what the NPDs are though.

I'm not letting X1 sale prices sway me this gen. 1 console is enough. I'll miss out on some good exclusives I'm sure but I really weighed my options from last gen. Sony stuck with the PS3 when the 360 was getting nothing we were getting The Last Of Us. Sony's message out of the gate was games games games. I've grown tired of Microsoft's approach of check out all these cool features our console has. I might be in the minority but I don't need FEATURES I need GAMES. Sony's still actively courting indies and new stuff is announced almost daily at this point. I'm happy getting all I get with Plus and the lineup of exclusives that are coming not counting what hasn't been announced. I'll have plenty to play.

I'd actually probably quicker consider a Wii U for $150 without the screen controller and a Pro Controller so I could play stuff like Bayonetta and Zelda. They'd probably screw me and bake in some dumb functionality on the new Zelda when it launches though.

It's funny because that's what people said about PS3.

I don't actually think the X1 is doing terribly. I just think they're being aggressive, as @tyler pointed out. Wish Nintendo would pull their head out of their asses and do the same.

This is kind of how I feel. I have too many games to play now. I will be picking up 3-6 more between now and Christmas and passing over a few others I just don't have the time for. If this new Gears of War bundle (not a HD remaster of the first 4) I would probably pick it up though. But it isn't it is Halo. I played 3, 4 and Reach if I never play Halo again that is fine.

The battery in my 2000 lasts for days. Granted, I don't play as heavily as I used to. I just plugged it in this morning, and I've been going since Sunday. I know I put about 3 hours in freedom wars that night. Still had a quarter charge this morning. My 1000's battery would be low before we even head back home on a Sunday night if I was playing a larger game.

That is such a bad business strategy.

And yeah, all early adopters deserve to get screwed somewhat for being early adopters. But Xbone early adopters are getting completely reamed! I know they got a Kinect, but seriously Kinect is basically a $100 voice activated remote control at this point.

Not once did I say they were doing terribly, I simply meant about overtaking Sony

No what happened with PS3, had to do with price. Up until they did a big price drop with the slim, PS3 wasn't outselling Xbox, then it finally did.

My point is Xbox is nearly selling for half of what it launched for, it it doesn't outsell the PS4 I am not sure what will get it to outsell PS4.

I am fine with my purchase and figured a $50 off or free games was coming a year later... but a 50% price reduction from early adopters in less than a year, this is almost as bad as people who bought a 3DS at launch, at least Nintendo made that right.

We had a store in my town when I was younger called Video Odyssey that let you rent consoles as well as games. If this was still a thing I'd rent an Xbone to play Sunset Overdrive.

Yeah a lot of places by me used to do that. Maybe we should buy a PSN thread x1 and trade it around. Get the console buy a game for it ship it to the next person so on and so forth. Then Vig will win it in a trohpy challenge in another 7 years or so.

Did you play Black Flag on PS4? I think that would be a good comparison.
Black Flag looks and runs great on PS4. You sure that's an appropiate comparison? Not saying you're wrong but that would essentially mean everyone is lying lol. I'm not a huge AC fan but I was interested in trying this one since the parkour/climbimg aspect is supposed to be improved. That's always been my biggest beef.
