Well this was basically me tonight:

iJMdscL.jpg

Totally derped out with the monkey above the spikes in 2-1 (exactly where either Stotch or MildObstruction bit it)

Looking at the leaderboards, we all basically blew it except for Glorious Spelunky Ubermensch Crunchewy, who I'm guessing has this contest locked up, lol.
I didn't blow it. I made it a full stage further than I ever had before!

I'm surprised so many of you died there. I think I was carrying a gold statue when crossing that section and let the monkey take my last bomb.

Was it worth playing?
For me, ya. I had fun with it but I'm not blind to its shortcomings; I think it was just a nice change of pace from everything else.

You basically rampage the same areas over and over again trying to best your old score ala Spelunky (shudder), so there's not much content to it. Only two different "boss" fights using the loosest of definitions, which was also disappointing so once you find your stride you replay the same areas and bosses over and over in one play. The minigames are somewhat entertaining at first, but they're pretty much just reskins of things that have already been reskinned dozens of times (for instance, Conga = Snake) so you'll get tired of them fairly quick.

In other words, it's nothing impressive and very light on content but in the words of pete "it scratched an itch i didn't know I had". Only reason I played it was because I had thrown my back out and I couldn't get comfortable enough on the couch to play anything on the TV. Figured I was always dipping into the backlog, so why not play something new?

I hope you're shuddering at comparing Hungry Horde to the greatness of Spelunky.

Two pairs of boots! 30 on two characters by Saturday. fucking maintenance...I'd have them Friday if they weren't busy "fixing" things.
Congrats. Not kidding when I say the exact thing happened to me. Weeks of fruitless attempts and the remaining raid gear (boots) suddenly drops for two of my characters all in the same night lol. So hopefully I can get them both to 30 by the weekend as well. From my understanding the maintenance only lasts about 4 hours during midday so it shouldn't disrupt much.

And that site you posted is awesome (http://destinystatus.com). Better than the companian app in some ways. Shows the precise amount of xp and reputation needed to level.

Most of the fun is in how great it feels to shoot guns in conjunction with the different grenade and Exo-Powerup types. In terms of the story itself, I saw the plot twist coming, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable to see unfold.
It was so obvious, I don't even know if you can call it a twist.

Shuddering over the Spelunky cult that's forming before my very eyes. In the words of breakfuss, you all have been "sipping the kool-aid".

To be fair, I'm sure Spelunky has a little more production value than Hungry Horde. I haven't really given it a fair chance.

Just did my Spelunky run. Really happy with the results and hopefully I stay there. It should give me a nice boost and I beat Zimm and Ninja so I should be moving on up :D

I'm liking Rogue so far. Movement and everything feels noticeably better than AC2 (which is as far as I'd played previously.) Not as much story/characterization as 2 had, I think, but I'm not that far in yet either.
According to the article, it's mostly caused by the problems with Unity.

disgaea 4, hyperdimension rebirth, and danganronpa 1 got price drops at gamestop. 30 for new, 24.99 for used(17.99 with pur+birthday coupon) 27.99(20.15) for disgaea. probably gonna grab a demon gaze tonight. i'd get disgaea too if any around me had one.

First I've heard of this: Sony is launching a TV streaming service.  CBS, Discovery Communications, Fox, NBCUniversal, Scripps Networks Interactive and Viacom are on board, and they're still trying to get Disney for ESPN and ABC.  Programs can be saved in a cloud-based DVR.

TV TV TV Sports!  Rolling out in NY for a trial - can't wait to see what it's priced when they launch it.  They'll probably fuck it up, but for now I'm intrigued.

so many updates today!

- aquapazza plat get. probably the easiest fighting game plat I've played save the online grind (which would be fine if it wasn't a ghost town since you progress towards the trophies win or lose).

- much to my surprise, did not win a ps4 today

- tales of hearts r is still awesome and getting better. as far as jrpgs go the pacing is excellent, no wasted time in battle wrap ups / transitions in (well, some post fight dialog seems to be required to play the first time but can be skipped every time after) and there's even options to make dialog self progressing so you can just let an in-game chat run while you go to the bathroom and it'll finish itself. BUT I'm actually enjoying the doofy story and dialog so I haven't been bouncing through much at all.

- spelunky run was my best so far and also the most disappointing. derped indeed. I wish I had time to watch everyone's replays.

-started ac:unity. I have mixed feelings about it, but I'll reserve my senseless diatribe for when I've gotten a bit further. I will say this - the couple scenes with large crowds that I've seen so far? Not worth whatever they sacrificed to make it happen. transitioning from outside to inside buildings? awesome.

- evil within update: just kidding. I wish! that's a damn good game.

You wound me! I'm riding Kyle Orton this week, fuck it. I can't fucking trust terrible Andy Dalton.
Palmer going down with the ACL hurt me. This 16 team shit is crazy. If we do this again it should probably be a 12 team where everyone actually participates.

I'm riding Kyle Orton in a 12 team work league this week. Figure he's better than Alex Smith vs Seattle D. Even if Seattle D hasn't been the best lately.

That Rollers in the Realm pinball/RPG hybrid comes out this Tuesday (11/18). Gonna be $9.99 cross-buy (PS4/Vita) and have a 10% discount for plus the first week. It's pretty fun so far. Seems right up MildPete's alley. No trophies out there for it yet. Full review hopefully coming Monday afternoon.

EDIT: looked up trophies on my Vita. 8 bronze, 3 silver, 1 gold, no plat. There's one for playing 600 hours minutes so it may get grindy.

Have you gotten far enough to experience the modern-day stuff? I haven't heard or read anything about it.

(From Dec. 2013 and written for Black Flag, but it still seems relevant with Rogue having ship-sailing)

Disgaea 4 (Vita) is actually $27.99 used ($20.15 with b-day coupon + PUR). Also, your math is slightly off, as the b-day coupon is applied first then the 10% PUR discount--the $24.99 used games would be $17.99. Yeah, yeah, it's a $0.50 difference, but still.

That's exactly what we're talking about.

Yeah, I was gonna edit that. Thought about that on the drive to work, lol.

Wonder if I will be eligible for the trial? I am technically outside the NYC Metro area but still get NYC TV channels/networks.

If you do get in, would like to hear how it is.

Nashville area is pretty good at getting tech (we are in the running for google fiber) so maybe we will get it here at some point.

Also, are you gonna be on the destiny tonight? Need help doing the strike to get Thorn.
