Is there seriously no sale on PS Plus this Black Friday? fuck me, I was counting on a nice discount.
There have been several companies selling it for about $35 when combined with some deal. NewEgg for example you can buy the physical card version (not the instant email) through their Newegg Mobile app and check out with Google Wallet for $15 off.

I'm kind of with Vig though. They could have gotten me a $30 gift card instead, I could have gotten the game and had $5 left over. Better yet, get me 3 months of Gamefly and Ill play Mordor and about 10 other games to go with it :)
I think hand-picking stuff is a little different though. I certainly don't understand Therm's point about thinking about it like it's his own money. LOL.

I think he is just saying it slightly different is all. We are all just trying to maximize the gift $ just like we would our own $ is all. I am just specific in what I want so I can maximize it without making it complicated for relatives.

i guess i can understand with those that are spoiled with choice. if anyone tried to tell me how to spend my money on their gifts, i'd get them socks and underwear. then again, i'm probably more old fashioned when it comes to gifts than other people are. i'd rather you not ask me what i want, and pick a gift based on what you know i like.

i'm probably one of the easiest people to buy for, but nobody takes the time to try. i love picking out things that i know the person is going to love, and then seeing their reactions after they open it. i have to fake a reaction, cause it's either cash, or a game i already knew i was getting.

You have to understand that the average person isn't willing to spend as much time as we do looking for deals. No sense in beating yourself up because someone bought you Shadow of Mordor for $35 when you could've bought it for $25, for example.
I wouldn't beat myself up over a $10 price difference like that, but I would if they had bought it for the full $60.

And for those struggling with people buying them games over the holidays..simple answer. Don't ask for video games. I'm too old to ask for someone to buy me a videogame and I don't have to worry about people maximizing the amount of money they are spending on me to my liking. I don't typically ask for anything hobby related, just get me stuff I need (like a nice bottle of scotch). If it is something for recreation, I probably either bought it right away because I wanted it, or I know I want to wait for a better price.

I always thought it was weird that people thought last year was normal with the PS+ sales. I sure as hell loaded up, and I think most of this thread did as well.
So you spent how much at once? I spent $30 then and $35 now. Yes I paid $5 more for it this year, but I didn't have to pay a large sum up front. This works well for me.

Found the chick!

I am an adult.  I buy what I want, when I want.  I hate buying gifts for other adults.  Lets buy a ton of shit for all the kids and be done with it.

I'm going to mention the boosting SS for Burnout Paradise one more time.  I thought there was a ton of people who still needed them and not a single one signed up new to the list.  There are a lot of us that have them and are willing to help.  Since it seems like most everyone as of now is available tonight that needs them, I am going to go ahead and send out a PM for coordination tonight.  If you want in, now would be the time to speak up and put your info in the SS and I'll add you to the PM list.

If for some reason it is blocked for you, send me a PM and Ill add you to the SS and the PM group.

My brothers and sisters and I, we stopped exchanging gifts years ago. It's dumb. It's like exchanging $50 bills. Why? But I do give and receive gifts from my Mom and my mother-in-law. Mostly, it's gifts going to the kids, nieces and nephews.

FYI, I'll check if I have a PS2 Eyetoy lying around and see if I can hook it up as a mic like guardian_owl pointed out.

I totally forgot to add myself there.

Speaking of gift board games. One of you can get me Camel Up and another one of you can get me King of New York. You don't even have to get a good deal on it. I'm cool with that.

Exactly. Instead we like to go out to dinner with friends and family randomly throughout the year and sometimes I will pay, other times others pay. I think going out with people and paying the bill is much more satisfying and fun than trying to figure out what to get someone for xmas.

I thought this sounded like a potentially fun board game (not my photo):

Are you the CAG Leslie Knope?

That was the point of my original post--I'm coming up empty nowadays when trying to find things I want. #firstworldproblems

My MLB 09: The Show trade-ins to Amazon were delivered 5 days ago and are still sitting in Processing... status. How long does that usually take?
It can take a while (I think I had something "Processing" for nearly 10 days before finally being credited for it), but they'll eventually be processed.

If you are looking for a gift, if there is a game you still haven't picked up that you were interested in that is a greatest hits ($20) put that on your list. It's not going to get that much cheaper and should be fairly widely available.

To all those who followed my Target PSN card deal math advice, enjoy your 2 years of plus / 1 year of plus + $50 in software for $34.06 each after credit via 2x $50 PSN cards, the buy $100 get $15 is back on through Dec 2nd.

still torn on the sale. want the mass effect dlcs, but i've played them all already besides omega(which i got for free on psn already). knowing that buying them will almost confirm a remaster makes me want to. then hot pursuit, which was pretty much my favorite arcade-ish racer last gen, but i'm probably going to be picking up a copy of rivals complete on friday. this is why having no more sales previews sucks. i could be saving my credit for absolutely no reason
