Dang, that's really discouraging. I beat the vanilla version a long time ago but avoided going for the plat because of the constant crashing and the eventual Ultimate Edition. Shame to hear that it's still just as fubar'd today as it was four years ago. Have you had any crashes / system locks yet? I can deal with a terrible framerate but having to forcibly shut down a frozen system scares the hell out of me...Finally popped in the Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition after having sat on it for a while. I've been an apologist for Fallout on PS3 and New Vegas in particular (loved the hell out of the faction system and ability to play the game several ways, including sans combat), but this is really bad. Framerate is single digit territory on a fairly regular basis. I might just throw it on very easy to run through all of it really quickly, but I'm really bummed.
Makes me wish I had a viable computer so I could properly experience the DLC.
I only played for about 45 minutes. Had one instance where I couldn't enter or exit a door, went to load up a previous save and the loading screen stared at me for 5 minutes before I shut my system down.Dang, that's really discouraging. We should all know by now that Pix the Cat always gets the last laugh unless you're Vig.<Tyler being salty>
So I give up for tonight. I am not destined to beat this game right now. I'll go back and beat the final level for a third time tomorrow I guess.

I totally agree. I bought my ps3 because I wanted to play Fall Out 3 after loving the first 2 (tactics, eh) but the way they handled the dlc and so many glitch/bugs, I havnt even bothered even tho I own both. Eventually I will deal with it, but I will be frustrated no doubt, when it should be a moment of joy.Ugh,Bethesda. How can one company be so awesome and so damn terrible at the same time?!
How does PS4 have the easier plat? It still has the "Reach the highest level of Awesomeness" trophy that will demand Daily Challenges for 2-3 straight months.Which version of Rayman Legends do I get?
PS4 has an easier plat, a higher TT score, and probably better graphics but the Vita version has a prettier platinum image and is cheaper. Hmmm.
It definitely should be on Vita, and it makes so much sense, that I have to imagine it will make its way there. I try not to double dip for things that aren't cross-buy, but I gladly would in this case.I really wish that Geometry Wars was on Vita. That would make buying it a lot easier. I'm sure I'll cave anyways though. I loved the first game
I totally would, but I am on PS3. :/Yanks we got to do some co-op. I want to see your old man reflexes.
I love how they basically kept all the other modes so you can switch between 3-d and 2d
Good write up Therm. I am curious, since you haven't played through the whole series yet, do you feel you were spoiled, story wise, by anything in Rogue? I still haven't finished AC3, but I kind of want to give Rogue a shot sooner, rather than later. However, if it will mean spoiling anything big, I would rather wait.Got the Rogue plat. For some reason the last few times I played convoys just would not spawn. Tonight I knocked out around 10 in about 2 hours. Clocked in at 46h15m total. I'd say somebody familiar with the series could have done it in 35-40. I had a lot of wasted time trying to figure things out, like how to get to chests that were inaccessible from my area of the map, or not doing particular tasks in the most efficient way and ended up doing things more times than I needed to as a result.
Good game overall. Pretty fun, but the story is pretty pointless and it doesn't do anything to reveal the Templar's goals, motivations, and how they differ from the Assassins IMO. Just two sides of the same coin kinda thing. The stuff in the present time is stupid as. It's in first person POV and you never learn anything about the character nor is there any story element at all in that time period. I don't think they even said the MC's name--one of the other characters just called him dumbass over and over again.
I will say it's very unbalanced. I finished the game with over a million pounds that I simply had no way to spend. At the very beginning you can run out of money, but other than that the only time you run into issues is if you're buying skins for upgrading Shay's health and such. Those can be expensive, with a single skin running at 20,000 pounds. I think I spent around 400,000 total on that simply to avoid hunting and whaling as much as possible as it's kind of a time sink. An interesting point of this is that the game is glitched for skinning; you have challenges for skinning particular creatures, but what triggers the challenge being completed is having the skin in your inventory. You can buy skins and complete the skinning challenges that way. Kind of silly.
The whole Naval Campaign is pretty pointless. The only thing you get out of doing it is to unlock gear and to complete the challenge/trophies associated with it. Once you've unlocked everything the only reason to continue that game element is if you need money...but by the time you finish the Naval Campaign you're swimming in money, so why waste your time doing it further? You also get a ton of tobacco in the game, which can be sold for money as well but serves no other function. On the other hand...to upgrade the Morrigan or to perform renovations you need other resources, such as wood or stone or (for some crazy goddamn reason) cloth. That's right--the renovations have crazy cloth requirements. The houses sure asdon't look like they're made out of satin, so I don't get that. Regardless, you have to rob caravans or supply camps in order to get those resources. Why is there no in-game market? I'm not joking when I say you get tons and tons of money...so why can't you use that money to buy the resources you need for other activities? It's such a stupidly unbalanced set of game elements in this way.
Again, I enjoyed the game quite a bit, and it was satisfying to complete everything, but as I've said before I don't think I'll be playing another AC game to completion. They're just not designed well enough to justify the time spent on extraneous fetch quests and jumping through pointlessly artificial hoops geared towards making you play longer. I'll definitely play story of the other games in the series, however--I'll just stop when I'm done with that part from now on.
If you know that, then you know everything major that's happened since 3. The present day story seems almost non existent in Black Flag and Unity so farGood write up Therm. I am curious, since you haven't played through the whole series yet, do you feel you were spoiled, story wise, by anything in Rogue? I do know of one major event that will happen in 3:
Desmond dies. I don't know how and I want to keep it that way, but I do know he doesn't make it. Other than that, I don't know shit from 3 onwards
Good god. I was about to pull the trigger on picking up the Fallout games and Skyrim on PS3 so I could get some trophies for my favorite games, but maybe I really should just skip that shit. After 40 hours of playtime in New Vegas I've had to do 4 hard resets and had unplayable lag 3 times that forced me to restart the game.
Bethesda has a cache system that you can clear when you start up the game. After the trophies load at the beginning, hold down R2, L2, and box(hurp). Keep holding them down until you get to the start screen. The title will appear then disappear, same thing with the words "push start". You'll be left staring at the picture of the dude holding a pistol. Let go of the buttons and the title screen will revert back to normal. Congratulations... you've cleared the cache that may or may not fix your buggy ass game. Do this every time you start the game up.
Another tip I came across in my travels through the wasteland is to play the game offline. This supposedly frees up more resources for the game to use which sounds good in theory since the limited ram is what's causing the issues. I have no idea if this actually does anything but I've been playing this way and have been trudging along bearably.
FUN FACT: I haven't had to reset my system since the last time I mentioned it in this thread, although I have had the freezing lag. Restarting the game and clearing the cache has fixed it every time.
Huh. That sucks. If you know that, then you know everything major that's happened since 3. The present day story seems almost non existent in Black Flag and Unity so far
Yeah, I skipped from 2 to Rogue. In Black Flag and Rogue the present story is set in Abstergo Entertainment (AC developer.) I dunno about in BF, but in Rogue it's completely pointless and adds nothing at all to the game. It would have been better left out IMO.Huh. That sucks.
When AC1 came out, I thought them even having a present day story was stupid. But I actually began to enjoy playing out a larger story in present time, while delving into smaller, more complete stories in the past with each game. And now I guess they have ripped that out, probably because they didn't know where to go with it. The present day story could have been better if they hadn'ted it up so much.
It was you that mentioned a lot of Floridians consider northern Florida to be lower Alabama. I actually consider it lower Georgia. And I dont mind drawl. I have some of it myself in certain words. My dad's parents were form the panhandle. They all have a heavy drawl. Its funny because my uncle has the heaviest accent and my wife's family could never understand 90% of what he said. The wife would just smile at him while he talked. And of course he is a big talker and wouldnt shut up. Think of the cajun guy from Waterboy but without the cajun accent.Nothing about me has anything to do with this godforsaken state except that it happens to be where I live now. That drawl is all Florida whether you like it or not.
I am glad I didnt like Fallout. Not my type of game. I find it ridiculous that they had these issues in multiple games and mostly only on Playstation. After 40 hours of playtime in New Vegas I've had to do 4 hard resets and had unplayable lag 3 times that forced me to restart the game.

Skyrim was fine. I played the Legendary Edition, so of course I played with all the patches installed. Only had the slowdown issues after about 120 hours of play, and even then it took a couple hours of playing for it to show up. Save, quit, load your game back up and it's fixed. It also very rarely did this thing where it would take 3 minutes or so on a loading screen, but if you just let it be it'll come up. No crashes or freezes or anything major like that. I put about 150 hours in total.Good god. I was about to pull the trigger on picking up the Fallout games and Skyrim on PS3 so I could get some trophies for my favorite games, but maybe I really should just skip that shit.
Did you get in on Burnout 8 player trophies? I think you were still downloading last night?Pity bump
I'm curious why you skipped to Rogue after the universal praise AC4 got. It seems to be regarded as the better game and surely would have been the cheaper choice.Yeah, I skipped from 2 to Rogue. What's better about it, do you think? Aside from the story, Rogue is pretty identical to BF according to most people have have played both. All the mechanics I mentioned having issues with are things BF had as well, from what I understand.I'm curious why you skipped to Rogue after the universal praise AC4 got. I am keeping mine crossed. I need a new PS4 player that possibly has a worse southern accent than meYou guys keep your fingers crossed for me getting in on the PS4 at midnight.
Ever since they decided not to fix a critical bug in Oblivion: GOTY edition of the PS3 version (among other incidents) I don't touch their games on consoles anymore and will only pay bargain basement prices for PC versions.Ugh,Bethesda. How can one company be so awesome and so damn terrible at the same time?!
I have such a boner right now.Hey, guys:

I haven't played Rogue yet, so it looks like neither of us can say for sure which is better. I thought I had read people saying that the Carribean setting in 4 was a little better than Rogue, but who knows. Seems like the differences are probably minimal (other than 4 being playable on next gen and looking great on it). I was just curious why you'd get the newer, more expensive one if they were similar, but it sounds like you just rented it (?).What's better about it, do you think? I played Rogue because I got it through GS. I still plan to finish 2 and then play through the other games.
At least we already found a worse Burnout player than you. Bums.I am keeping mine crossed. I need a new PS4 player that possibly has a worse southern accent than me
EDIT: And wren can be right when he calls it a Georgia drawl too.
Yeah I'm pretty sure once you guys hear me you're all going to think I'm a hillbilly or something.I am keeping mine crossed. I need a new PS4 player that possibly has a worse southern accent than me

I played 2 before 1, they actually took the present day seriously in 1, but it was pretty much pointless filler in 2 (and I assume every game going forward from that).Huh. That sucks.

Bums probably had smoked before playing, so he has a bit of an excuse. I still say that simmias and Zimm were as bad if not worse than me though. I had made it a few times before they did. They just happened to land it on the first try in the last round. We all did suck thoughAt least we already found a worse Burnout player than you. Bums.
You did realize the trailer was a fan trailer, right? The first trailer does come out today, though it'll be in limited theaters. I'm hoping it also gets a Youtube release instead of people having to cam and then share a low-quality one.I have such a boner right now.

I would like to, but this holiday is not going to be an option for me most likelyMario kart?
I'm down to play on Thursday in the morning
Or afternoon before dinner time.
I know there was a few others who wanted to play but I forgot who they were now. (Crunchy, soph, geeky?)
