I was at TRU yesterday and there was a guy literally inspecting every amiibo on the racks for defects.  That was a new one in this world of collecting.  Luckily they had some Luigi's out so I picked one up and price matched it to Best Buy's price of $12.99.

Back when I played Heroclix I had a friend who was like this with his figures. If they had a slight defect or paint smudge, he'd see if someone wanted to trade their version.

I will admit I did check the figures I initially picked up when Smash came out since the store had plenty.
 
Can't tell if I just made a good buy or not. Just picked up an entire set of sealed wave one in mint condition for $200. I already have them but I opened all of mine ... Now I want to collect them sealed too. Nintendo really hit a gold mine with these.

with defects selling for high prices on Ebay, everyone is searching for rare defects. I've seen simple ones sell for 50 bucks where the figure was upside down in the box. then there's the dual canon samus that sold for 2500 and the no leg peach that ended at 25k (I'm not sure that wasn't fake a bid though)

That's not collecting, that is pure (for lack of a better term) ebaying. Sure, maybe that guy has a set too, but if you are going to look through every peg to find a dual cannon Samus... you are trying to win the local lottery.

 
Got my Little Mac from TRU.com, well-packed.

For now I'm still only in possession of ones I really like or wanted prior to all this rarity nonsense (other than the WFT I found that I'm holding for a potential trade) but I don't know how long that will last.  I preordered Diddy at Walmart in case I change my mind about him, and now I'm very close to picking up a good number more from Wave 1 and Zelda when I wouldn't have bothered before.  Thankfully I already had Marth and have no interest in Villager.

I have 2 of every figure unopened including guaranteed preorders locked on all unreleased Amiibos including the 4 store exclusives. I have the 3 discontinued ones from series 1 from the UK as well. To make matters worse, I also have 2 SSB Bundles and 2 Collector Edition guides as well. It is insane but not as bad as people spending $2,500 for a dual cannon Samus or $25,000 for a legless Peach.

I just want people to know that you cant just assume its an illness because people like perfection. I also heavily disagree people can't discern it since OCD is viewed in a comedy manner.

You used it in an offensive way and please be aware next time you post.

I can only imagine how incredihard it will be in order to get the Mewtwo amiibo if and when it's release. Also...holy crap I wonder if Nintendo is pissed at themselves for not telling Sakurai "I don't give a shit if you're a Too Bigot, you're making Ridley playable because his amiibo will print money dammit."

Just wanted to say in my area (South East TN) I have checked quite a few places. Target had Zelda the other day when I went out but as of this morning they were about barren. Had tags for Zelda, Diddy, and Luigi, but none were there. The Walmarts around me are absolutely terrible, with just a few spaces open and filled with Mario and Pikachu. My Toys R Us has a huge section for them. While they had multiple pegs for Zelda and Luigi today, they had 1 peg for Diddy and 2 for Little Mac, both of which where out. My Gamestops have the very basics plus a couple of Zelda's. I thankfully am almost caught up. I have all US released figures minus Diddy and Mac, which I have ordered on Newegg. I managed to get Lucario, Shulk, and Metaknight preorders in, plus all of the Wave 3 figs preordered at Best Buy. So now I just wait for Roslina to go up for reals and Captain Falcon and Pit to get some sort of announced date in US. I am annoyed at how the Wave 2 launch was handled here, with different stores putting them out at different times different days. Where as Toys R Us and Target in my area must have sold out instantly of their Diddy's and Mac's, places like Best Buy still haven't even made room and released them (at least in my neck of the woods). I just hope these amiibo releases are a bit more transparent in release dates in the future. 

 
Sweet! BB pulled two Zeldas for my order, clerk noticed, but I politely asked to buy the other and she handed it over. This is now my 4th double to stay sealed, hanging on the wall.

Also this BB had none of the two Wave 2 figures on the floor.

Meh, I've done that with Disney Infinity figures since day one.
 
My local BB had Little Mac out on the floor today. Thought everything was cool but got shut down at the register. Rang up do not sell before Dec 19th. Managed to score a Zelda, Fox and Samus. I tried to have them override the system for a pre-order of Little Mac but they couldn't do it. Guess I will try my luck Friday.

Had same problem. Manager said to look for her Friday and she will give me discount for my trouble.

I doubt he's being intentionally misleading. I think they are the US version (as it says in the description and shows in the pic). Regardless it's dumb. Any buyer has an easy out if they decide to screw with him because of the discrepancy.
