PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

Anytime a game is coming to one console and not another but coming to PC as well, both sides always say "console exclusive". No reason to be this vague with Tomb Raider besides they fact they don't want people to know its going to be on PS4 later.

And again, Publish doesn't always mean its tied down to that console.

Minecraft had 3 different publishers, Ninja Gaiden 3 Razers edge was published by Nintendo for the Wii U but it came out later to 360/PS3

As for SF V, sony is helping develop it. We really have no idea if Microsoft is helping develop it but personally i doubt they are.

Except they were vague with Dead Rising 3 and Ryse and neither of those have yet arrived on the PS4. You can keep assuming it'll come onto the PS4, but until I actually hear the announcement I'm just going to assume it'll be like their past "Exclusive" titles and only be Xbox/PC.

Because at the time Dead Rising 3 and Ryse were not planned at all to be out on PC so no reason to say anything about it. Only later did both of those get ported to PC when sales werent that great on Xbox One as Capcom and Crytek as they had hopped.

Until I hear an announcement from Microsoft that Rise of the Tomb Raider is a console exclusive to them im just going to assume its coming to PS4 at a later date.

But like you said, you have no more proof then any of us do for either side so not sure why you want to keep discussing it lol. Guess we'll wait and see what happens.

I don't think you should keep the Xbox One, deader. It doesn't appear that you even want it. Instead of acknowledging reasons to keep it, you're dismissing. That should tell you something.

Oh yeah I clearly want to keep discussing it. You caught me.
and yet, after saying that you made 3 more post about the subject.

Interestingly, looking things up it appears Crytek wanted to make a Ryse 2 but there was a conflict with Microsoft has to who would own the IP. Microsoft would only help fund the game if Crytek would give up rights to the IP to them but Crytek didn't want to do it because they didn't feel the install base was large enough on Xbox One to give up their IP to make another.

Well I know the reasons to keep it are exclusives since im going to be using the PS4 for any multiplats. There are games im looking forward to but they are so far off its just hard to se eit sit there and do nothing lol.

It's because RotTR>Uncharted 4. Duh.

But it looks like he updated his profile, and now it say The Last of Us 2

You likely wouldnt like anything they did anyways
Bought/played every Naughty Dog game in existence since PS1 except Jak 3. Don't be stubborn.

I'm not sure what the problem is. They have a ton of characters in that universe they could work with and there's a lot of paths they could take the game in.
There isn't any.

From what I remember, the game didn't allow one from how it ended is all I'm saying. I'll still buy it and enjoy it like the 1st one.

No surprise there. I loved the first so Im looking foward to the next one. Im still torn if I want new characters or not, joel and ellie were perfect. Speaking of ND, I was playing TLOUR MP the other day and they really ruined it with all those weapons and perks you have to spend real cash on to get. Im shocked they dont get more flack for that.

Tomb Raider is coming to the PS4, MS would have been shouting from the rooftops if it wasnt.
exactly what i was about to say. if it wasnt coming to ps4 then wouldnt have to use the oh so very carefully worded sentences when asked about exclusivity.

sony had no problem saying SFV was outright exclusive to ps4/pc. none of this "well its exclusive for holiday 2015 blah blah blah"

ah is ee your PSN profile now. Looks like you didn't finish The Last of Us or played Uncharted unless you havent synced with the server in forever.
TLOU trophies didn't sync for whatever reason, but trust me when I say I beat it on Hard. Honestly never finished UC3, got to the point where
Sully was shot and presumed dead
and never finished it.

Don't think the first one had trophies but account clearly shows 58% for UC2.

Don't see what benefit I would get from lying, but there's my case.

Sold my PS3 immediately after finishing TLOU as well, was clearly no use for it after that exclusive wise.

Yeah it seems like they've gotten a free pass from any criticism over all the paid micro-transactions that game has. It's quite literally riddled with them and it's silly you have to $1.99-$2.99 for an in-game weapon.

For future reference click and hold over the text you want to put into a spoiler tag and then click that little book icon next to the eraser in the top left corner of the chat editor and then scroll through the labels until you find the spoiler tag and click "ok".

Well most of the weapons and skills can be used for free in pre-set non custom loadouts. Im not a fan though and think the paid DLC should be customization items only. I dont feel like it ruins the MP though.

The Last of Us: Remastered now has as many paid perks as it does base perks. I've been holding out from buying any of the dlc because it almost feels like cheating. But Agility 2 coud help me make a really nice loadout. And I don't feel multiplayer has been ruined. They've given some buffs to a few of the base weapons, so it doesn't seem like they're turning it into pay to win.

None of the dlc guns interest me. Maybe the crossbow, but ammo for purchased weapons is limited (purchased in matches with supplies; not weapons purchased as dlc). The frontier rifle is kind of fun; I tried it from one of the set loadouts. But it isn't that much different than the semi-auto. It downs in just as many headshots. It downs in one less body shot than the semi-auto, but the rate of fire of the semi-auto makes up for that.

If I don't find anything worth buying in next week's holiday sale I'll probably buy the perk pack with Agility. That says a lot about how much I like the multiplayer. I played the Halo series a lot, but I didn't spend a dime on dlc. For The Last of Us I'm going to spend a dollar to walk faster.

I bought one at launch and regretted and traded it in for cost. Got it again to play sunset (got the white bundle for 337) beat it and got dead rising and now barely touch it. No idea what game ill even get next since nothing exclusive is announce in the next 6 months
You can return it to them but don't. The white bundle is worth a lot of money. I sold my used one for $420 on craigslist and I didn't even include the digital version of SO. Sold a brand new one for $500.

I'm glad I looked at PS4 digital codes on Amazon this morning. They have the Last of Us Remastered perk pack with Agility for half the price of the PSN store. I also ended up buying one of the gun packs because it was 33% off. The Enforcer seems pretty good. In loadouts I could swap between having a silenced pistol or having a more powerful unsilenced Enforcer; they're both one point.

If Naughty Dog adds another round of perks and guns then they should allow a few more custom loadout presets.

As for TLou MP I'm not a fan of the microtransactions so yeah I think it's a borderline sleazy but it's not like Day one DLC which is an obvious cash grab. They're at least providing support and balancing post game launch so I don't think it ruins the MP experience. The new tactical shotgun seems a little OP to me though. The preset loadouts excuse is still crappy because most people like to customize their abilities to their gameplay but at least you get to try out the gun before you buy it.

I don't like some of their paid loadout DLC's (not sure if this pertains to Agility 2 that deadofnight is referring to) as you get stuck with another preset loadout. You're not allowed to customize your loadout completely because the sets take up a ton of loadout points beforehand.

As long as it's not The Division I'm happy.

Any if u guys use the silver headset? Does the wire have to be plugged to the ps4 for everything to work or can u also plug it in the ps4 controller and still get the chat functionality? Thanks. Debating in getting this today since its in sale fir 49.99.

I want honest opinions on this.

How reliable is the PS4 hardware from all fronts?  PS4 being a smaller form factor is always a plus, but does it have similarities to the PS3 Slim where the fans get pretty noisy and freezing with extended use?  I'll live with controller quality as I'm not honestly expecting much from it.

Gonna try to aim to have one before the Order is released.

Can't comment on everyones hardware, but my unit seems quiet and hasn't froze or anything like that.  Then again I've never had an issue with Sony hardware, still rockin my launch PS3. I swapped in a bigger hybrid-ssd but doubt that would change the noise levels, so year great little machine.

Mine gets loud sometimes. Its noticeable when Im playing parts of Far Cry 4 for example, but most times its quiet.

The controller is far superior to the PS3, and aside from the sticks being worn off (which sounds like it was mostly launch controllers), i havent heard much complaints about it. I wish the start and options buttons were either someplace different or larger, because I have a hard time pressing them. But I seem to be the only one who thinks that.

My ps4 has been very reliable, I have the white one and no freezing issues so far. The fan is considerably louder than the X1's but its not a deal breaker for me because I ususally play with headphones on or the tv volume way up.

Yea, it can get "loud" but truly it isn't that loud at all.  Having the power within the unit is always going to need a bigger fan, so the trade off is you don't have some massive power brick behind your unit.

The controller is one of my favorites, it fits your hand so well!  I had stick issues with the rubber, but again those were said to be launch controllers so it should be fine now.  GREAT controller though!

I've never had the regular PS4 software freeze, I have had a couple of game freezes, but not total lock up on the system and simply just exit out to the Home screen, or the game crashes you to the home screen.  Besides the issue we had for only a little bit with Rest mode, the software is some of Sony's best.

My slim has never done that.

Launch PS4 works perfectly.

Dualshock 4 is the best controller.

This is almost exactly how I feel.

Gonna most likely buy it used so hopefully it doesn't break down on me after warranty expires.  CowBoom looks like the way to go unless a fellow CAG or GameTZ deal comes my way.

Thanks for the responses.
