Destiny Discussion Thread - Fear The Moon Wizards on September 9th

I think Activision/Bungie needs to commission Telltale for a Destiny season. Something to bridge to the sequel and prove they're committed to the lore and the story-telling aspects.

I love this game, I hate this game, I cannot stop playing this game, and most of all, I'm tired of reading scathing comments of this game and agreeing with them all. There are serious, serious flaws with the depth and presentation, but I can't remember the last time there was this much discussion on a single game. And there doesn't seem to be much neutrality--people either love it despite its flaws or hate it because of them. There's no shortage of feedback to be applied to the sequel, and the framework for this series (the co-op shooting) is rock solid. They should have something to flesh out the existing lore and tie into the inevitable sequel. I'm not going to geek out hard enough to read a novel, or even a graphic novel, but I will play the hell out of a visual Choose Your Own Adventure.

Anyway, I'm still thinking about doing that virgin Vault of Glass run. There are two, possibly three of us ready to do a first-time run, if anyone feels like patiently holding our hands this weekend. 31 Warlock/30 Hunter/26? Warlock

Yeah, let's get LinkinPrime and maybe me and Moose can run you guys through it. The 26 is a little low. But that's OK - the key thing just being they need to have some maxed weapons (and not halfway levelled blues for example).

I wish I could hand out weapons for you guys to "borrow" for the Raid ;). I have 3 each of Vision of Confluence, Atheon's Epilogue, and Fatebringer (and that's after breaking down a few extras).

Tried to make up for lost time last night. Ran Nightfall, Weekly and Crota. Crota was with a bunch of first timers and took way too long (when I'm the most experienced person in the group you're in trouble). We did latterns legit, tried gatekeepr legit for a while and then gave up and cheesed, spent at least an hour on Deathsinger and then they just wanted to glitch Crota. We couldn't get the glitch to work and most of them didn't have good enough weapons to try and do it right, so eventually I had to bail. I found another group and got that done pretty quickly, we then started fresh to try and get the 2nd chest. It went quick because we cheesed both the first sections, but someone triggered the next cp without getting the chest so that was a waste of time. I got my third set of arms and a chest piece, so now all I need is a helm. Second straight week I only got shards from Crota. Nightfall gave me Ruin Wings, which I already have a fully upgraded set; Xur engram turned into No Back Up Plans, don't know if I'll use them or not, I was mostly just planning to get an exotic shard for 23 motes.

I still want to try for the second chest and I need to run VOG hard. Let me know if anyone wants to do either tonight.

The lore is there in the grimoire cards so they should have at least integrated that into the loading screens like other games do

 
Hmm, I fully leveled up one skill tree on my Titan today but the achievement didn't unlock. Tried swapping some skills, switching to the other tree and back, logging in and out, switching characters... Anyone know any other tricks?

It will come eventually - sometimes people don't get achievements to pop until days later.

I'll switch back to the CAG clan for any VoG run so you guys can get achievement.

Yep. I finally went and found all the dead ghosts and it took almost a week before the achievement popped. Similar thing happened when running the raid with cag group.
 
Got an Oracle CP.  I have to work late though.  More than happy to pass it along if anyone needs/wants it.

It was testing my patience though.... This idiot kid insisted that the group could do Oracles legit... Yeah that worked out really well.  I was always the last one alive.  I had enough and just went to orbit.

Is anyone ready for the full Normal run? (Or Hard Oracles checkpoint?)

Oh, and if anyone still needs to do the Heroic Weekly I'm up for that as well. It is kind of a pain this week though (just takes a while).

OK, I'll be on in a few minutes too. I only saw Simosaurus on earlier and it looked like he was running a new character. I just did some bounties and then some Vangaurd Roc strikes to get a ship - still haven't gotten one in about 10 tries (though I did see the other 2 people get one on one run).
 
Damn I just saw these posts. I am going to be getting on my X1 in a bit and was going to play some Shadows of Mordor but if you still need me at all for VoG or anything just shoot me a message.

Damn, I got super sidetracked and am just now hopping on to play a bit before bed. Since you guys are just doing Weekly stuff I will just jump onto Shadows of Mordor. If you guys are in dire need of help though do not hesitate hah

 
If anyone is up for a quick VoG run on Sunday Linkin said he'd be available around 9-9:30 PM Pacific. I know that's late for some of you. But we ought to be able to get through Normal in an hour or so I would think. Tojokun1 and Defiance, if you guys are able to run it then that would be great. Defiance - not sure I have you on my Xbox Live friends list so go ahead and add me if you want to run it tomorrow (Odibee).

Can anyone help me out with a weekly strike this evening? We can do level 24, I just need to knock it out to finish the Invective bounty.

 
I'm glad I waited to upgrade Pocket Infinity. I picked up the bounty yesterday and just bought and broke down 10 fusion rifles (45 minutes of glimmer farming Venus for the 16000 glimmer I needed). Still have a day and a half of the current Nightfall with solar burn to get the 200 kills with my Vex. Every now and again things go my way with this game.

Oh, yeah, this Nightfall is great for that. I got another Pocket Infinity bounty and had been saving fusion rifles from random drops for it (it was nice to clear those out of my vault!) but I'm still 3 or 4 short. I was so short on glimmer I didn't even look into buying them though. Hopefully I'll find a few more before the reset. But then again I'm in no hurry on it since I just completed another one earlier this week. It is really just for the exotic shard ;). Hmmm - I wonder if you break down another Pocket Infinity does it count as breaking down a fusion rifle for that bounty?

Io is on, that gives us 4. Vendetta is still in with his group, I know he'd like to join us if the timing works out. Can see if Ryu wants in to.

Just got back from working out and was going to shower and be on in just a bit. I hope it goes smoothly for you guys!

Yeah, Broly, we didn't really get started till near 10. We finished it by about 11:45 so that's not too bad for 2 people who had never run it and one who ran it just once. We didn't wipe all that many times, actually - no particular part caused more than a few wipes. And I did one side of the Gatekeepers which I usually just run from the outside so that was a new experience for me.

I got a Praedyth's Revenge (the sniper) which is actually only the second one I've ever gotten. Then I got a Glass Minuet (Normal Raid ship), also only the second one. I got one the very first time when Broly guided us CAG scrubs through it, what, 2-3 months ago. Otherwise it was just shards, shards, and more shards (Edit: OK, I recorded the Atheon kill and apparently I got 3 energy there - so yay). I could use more energy to level up alternate and second/third copies of different weapons. But I sure don't need shards (not those kind anyway).

Defiance and Linkin still need the clan achievement so we can do it again some time next weekend maybe.

I do have the Oracles checkpoint on Hard (I think - was that Hard mode Rad?) if anyone wants to try that quick tomorrow. I probably won't be able to get on until around 10pm Pacific though.

Wow, never realized CAG had a clan for this. Are any of you playing on 360, or mostly on the One? I have a clan already, but there's only 5 of us, so we can't always be on at the same time. I will bookmark this thread, cuz I would love to play with you guys sometime. I have 3 characters, one of each class (warlock 31, titan 31 [have ability to be 31, but hate the boots so waiting on better ones to invest shards into], hunter 31).

Yea sorry, I had a late ice hockey game and had to be back to work early this morning so couldn't really join last night. I should be free tonight if you guys or anyone else is running VoG on Hard and need a hand.

 
Hah, yeah, I have that too. I'm always embarrassed to use it. The female Exo dance, on the other hand, is much less embarrassing and pretty cool (robotic dance moves).

The other embarrassing one is the male awoken one (my first character is a make awoken Titan). But it is embarrassing for a different reason - just looks dorky. I picture a minstrel at a Ren Faire dancing like that... Awoken males and females apparently just aren't compatible ;).

I have no idea what the human female dance looks like. Or the Exo male one.

Awoken Females =  Stripper Guardians from the... Edge-ge-ge-ge, Of-f-f-f, Space-ce-ce-ce!

The Human female dance is a bit of a funky hip-hop dance, which lines up well with the Human male.

The Exo's have the robotic moves.

I chose awoken for 2 toons... this was before I really knew what dance moves they had, or that you were stuck with the ONE and ONLY dance move. What was I smoking, thinking you could change your dance move... pffft.

 
Hah - Yeah, they should have Crota in hard mode drop a new dance move engram or something.

And maybe the Awoken male dorky happy dance is in response to his female counterpart's dance ;).

Or let us redeem all those chatterwhites for a new dance move.  They can even introduce a new vendor in the Tower, just to get your groove on... D'rety Du'ansing

Would be pretty funny if people starting running VoG just to get more Chatterwhite (after discarding all the ones they got earlier) to exchange for new dance moves. "Oh. damn, ANOTHER Mythoclast - why won't he give me Chatterwhite!?".

I have a female as each race for my characters. Awoken Warlock, EXO Hunter and Human Titan.

I always say the human female dance looks like a mom chaperone at a junior high dance hahah

And yeah the EXO Female dance is by far the best in the game, plus few people have them and so I have played many times with people and they are like WTF IS THAT?! :p
