Out of curiosity, any of you regulars decide to pickup Evolve? I really want to support the L4D devs but I'm majorly turned off by the preorder and season pass thing.

I know exactly what you mean. I want to play it but have been so burned by the shitty launches this season, coupled with the pre-order shenanigans that I am holding off for a sale/to find out if the game actually WORKS at launch.

I don't either. I got the game with my X1 but haven't even played it yet. Still working on AC4. I just saw it was free and snatched it up.

FYI, the story's purchase links for The Witcher 2 list the middle one as being for Xbox One instead of 360.
 
I bit the bullet and grabbed Evolve even though I'm sure it will come nowhere near the level of greatness that L4D is. I have 1 other friend who I will be playing with and wouldn't mind a couple of more if any of you are interested in teaming up. I can keep the crotchety complaining to a minimum. My gamertag is synnarc.

Well that's too bad. If I had known that would happen I would have pre-ordered it from there. $10 cert and free pass would have been worth it since I decided not to pre-order because of the BS they pulled with the DLC.

Well that's too bad. If I had known that would happen I would have pre-ordered it from there. $10 cert and free pass would have been worth it since I decided not to pre-order because of the BS they pulled with the DLC.

It doesn't ring up free - the offer is poorly worded on the BBY website (in contrast to the clearly worded $5 off offer in the ad) - so getting it for free takes an override - YMMV.

I picked up Evolve (no pass), but I haven't opened it yet - waiting for some more reviews. The amount of DLC (customizations, more characters in the future) is a bit overwhelming and makes me think the priorities are not in line with providing a fun/fresh gaming experience over time.

Yea glad I passed on it at the last second. Went to MS store to pick it up but decided to just cancel it and used the $50 gift card on $50 XBL credit. With the The Order 1886, Bloodborne, and FF Type 0 coming out it would have just been a waste since I was never fully interested in it anyways.

I did get the Monster Expansion pack in my email from doing those Target preorder cards. I at least have that for when I do get the game down the road. :)

Time to get some sleep now, take me a nice little 8 hour nap.

You get to say that you're the world leader in GS then h have to deal with the constant pressure of maintaining that distinction through buying and playing every crappy game ever.

Is anybody else tired of "retro" style games? I feel like it has been beaten to death over the past two years or so. When do you think 64 era/PSX graphic throwbacks will be the hot thing?

Ugly 3D will never be a hot thing. Flat-shaded polygons as in Futuridium are alright, even if Futuridium does have a totally awful Flappy Bird minigame that sucks sucks sucks.

Thanks for catching that. It was a mistake in the original Doc file from last week's story, which I corrected on the site but then I copied the text from last week's doc instead of from the site. Dang editing.

 
Has anyone heard of the wifi card in the XBO dying?

Mine has started refusing to connect to my router from time to time.  (all the other devices I have, 3 computers, phone, kindle, etc, all still connect fine)

I'm not tired of 2D games, but I'd love to see more indies take on the simple, oddly shaped polygonal models of that era but with better textures and such.

Drift Stage is sort of doing that with their game. Q Games said early on that their PixelJunk series would have a Series 2 that would move from 2D to PS1-style 3D, but that was about eight years ago at this point and they've expanded beyond that series. MGS4 even did a bit of that with its MGS1 Solid Snake mask.

I had this issue crop up after the last firmware update. I eventually found it was an issue with my external hard drive failing that caused the wifi problems. When I was researching the issue, some people also reported success after doing a full reboot (hold down power button for 10 seconds) or at worst, an 'offline update' (takes hours).

 
Sigh.... I just pre-ordered DB:Xenoverse (it's available for predownload on X1). I have a bad feeling I'm going to regret it. If nothing else I know the kids will enjoy it but I really, really hope it's awesome. Has anyone heard anything about it?

I played it on PS3 during the Network Test and I thought it was pretty fun. But then again I did like Battle of Z and everyone seemed to hate that game. I went ahead and pre ordered at Gamestop to get the Steelbook.

The story looks hot, the amount of characers is impressive, a nice editor, MMO-ish features, tons of content in general and great fan service. What's my issue that from the gameplay videos the fights don't look particularly fun. I hope they'll have a demo because I like everything about the game, except the most important part: the gameplay itself.

Awesome, ^that's back in-stock for shipping. After the incompetence I've dealt with lately in my Best Buy b&m, there was no way I was going to order one for in-store pickup (which was the only option for a while there). :whee:

 
So, you can easily get about 800 gamerscore/achievement points from Evolve in just a few games (most can be done solo).

I've heard some mixed things about it, and I doubt I'll be getting it (is it even available on the 360?), but it will never beat this:

Hey, if anyone has a BJ's Wholesale near them, they're selling a year of live for $36. It shows $56 in store but they'll take off $20 at the register.
