One kid. Florida is a time sharing state so there is not technically a custodial parent unless one parent says they dont want anywhere near 50% and the it has to be writing bla bla bla. Or your a degenerate/certifiable and the other parent can prove it. Basically we have to both come to an agreement (parenting plan) on all dates and how we will split the time sharing. Down to every date and holiday etc. Every detail should be covered. And apparently you can split time pretty much anyway you can both agree. Some parents even have their kid(s) move between each house every other day! I have no idea what we will do yet but probably something more sane like every other week or two weeks on two weeks off or something like that. I want it to be as close to 50/50 as I can get it.
Yeah its been about a month since it started. But every step requires time to be given to the parties to formulate a response etc. And come up with financials and other docs like the parenting plan above. In this case, the wife gets 20 days from today to respond to the petition because she was served 20 days ago or something and you have a waiting period before her 20 days to respond time comes up.
Also, the court date could just be the date we come to an agreement and end it. We can have mediation in the mean time and agree to everything so that the April date will just be the end. Or we will be arguing and have to have the judge step in. That would be where "first conference" would come in. I am hoping April will be the end of it. We shall see though...
