Yeah for some reasons I find unicorns funny than trinity, so I'm referring them as unicorns from now on.

 
I got ike from amazon UK. I thought it would be better just to pony up a little more than to constantly keep checking here and missing by moments for a store release.

It was only $4 more dollars than my pit purchase at gamestop anyway.  Lucina and Robin will complete my fire emblem amiibos and then I'll cool down on buying. 

I only really want Rob  after this.  maybe a couple others.

On March 20, Nintendo will launch the Super Mario amiibo—Gold Edition, a shiny gold-colored Mario figure that arrives on the same day as the Mario Party 10 game for the Wii U console. The Super Mario amiibo—Gold Edition will be sold exclusively at 3,000 Walmart stores in the U.S. at launch at a retail price of $12.96.

Nintendo’s amiibo are interactive toys that come to life in compatible games in different ways. This new golden figure represents the third Mario amiibo. The other two Mario amiibo are:
• The original ‘fireball’ Mario from the Super Smash Bros. series.
• A new ‘wave’ Mario from the Super Mario series available on March 20, for a limited time bundled only with Mario Party 10.

The new gold-colored Mario amiibo is compatible with multiple games that support amiibo. For example, Mario Party 10 features a new amiibo Party mode that players can only access by tapping their compatible amiibo figures on the Wii U GamePad controller to customize them and bring them into the game as board pieces. Players can also save items to their amiibo, then use them strategically. Or players can train their amiibo to supercharge its stats and expand its abilities in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U or Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. Would my only chance at getting some of these store exclusives be to trade for them? I'm guessing people are sitting on their stocks of Meta Knights and Lucarios.

Also I predict at least a few news stories of violence at Walmart over these gold Marios lol. Geeeeeez

Ironically I'll be on vacation the week MP10 comes out, I'm honestly not that interested in the Super Mario line but I may try to snag that Gold Mario. Probably will be easier said than done.
 
Honestly it looks like the first Mario Party in a while that looks different and fun, especially if you're using Amiibos. Maybe it's worth a buy.

 
Wonder how many more people are going to post the same news post. Is anyone really going for this then? I can see people camping in the store days before this hits.

 
I live in a somewhat smaller town with a Walmart.  *If* it were one of the stores to receive stock of the Gold Mario, I actually think my chances to grab it would be decent.

Given how quickly the regular figures sold out at WM... I'm betting there's a slim to no chance of me snagging one of these unless each of those 3K WMs are getting hundreds of them.

Probably true.

Not sure if they've announced which WM stores will have them yet, but I imagine it won't be pretty. "Luckily" we recently had to change hospitals and it doesn't look like our little daughter will be coming as early as the other place said -- If she comes on or near the 20th (closer to the due date) it'll hopefully crush my desire to try and get this or other color variants and I can retire from non-SSB amiibo collecting gracefully... either that or I'll just be a fool and pay out the ear on eBay for one haha...

OR now that I think about it, maybe I'll just put it on her baby registry since we didn't have a lot of things on there (having most of the stuff left from our 1st last year) and we can hope a family members is willing to snag one haha! :D

Please don't do that...unless you hold absolutely no value in what your in-laws (or future in-laws?) think about you.

 
As of dec 31st, there are 4,177 walmarts. My store didn't get sonic and mega man but I feel the store in the town I work in will get gold mario. Sadly it's a college town and there were 30-40 people at target for rosalina.
 
I was one who really didn't think it was real, so I guess I was wrong. I literally have 10 Walmarts within 15 miles of me, so I think I'd have a shot at one if I thought it was worth it. My local store is 24/7, so I feel like I'd have a decent shot to just walk in at 11:45 on a Thursday night and grab one at midnight. Lucario lasted 30 minutes at my local Toys R Us, so the window for this should be even bigger.

Not the end of the world if I don't get one though. That red base with the gold figure is ugly as hell.

 
Really hope my Walmart gets the gold Mario since I don't have that many wal marts around me.

I'll definitely be checking the 24 walmarts for this to avoid camping out in the morning.

It was a joke ;) Of course I wouldn't do that. I haven't lost ALL common sense and sanity to the Amiibo fever. Just don't believe the stories people tell you about me taking a swim every morning in my sea of Wave1 rares... they're exaggerating!

 
Got my Best Buy order for Yoshi, Peach and Donkey Kong with a $10 eshop card. For some reason they shipped everything individually in bubble mailers instead of together in a box even though they were all sent out on the same day. Donkey Kong's mailer was opened for some reason and smashed to hell. Called BB up and they told me to ship it back or return in store but they are all out of stock. Nothing about a gift certificate or gift card for the trouble until I mentioned it. Said that IF it did come back up they would send me one free of charge. Sucks that I'll have to look for it somewhere else since $8 for it with GCU was a good deal.

Currently at 16/29 with the damaged DK which I hope to replace. 17/29 once Shulk comes out in May.

Damn. Importing Ness from Amazon Italy comes to $34 after shipping. :/
