Basically, it was some old white people saying, "Hey, let's build a new park closer to more white people."
Sad to say, but if they want to increase attendance, they have no other choice. The people who live around the ball park who have the income to go are more hipster types who do not care. The poor who live around there can not afford to go. They talk about how the new stadium does not have public transportation options, the old one really didn't either that people would ride. I was always one of the handful of people who would be on the bus to get there from the Marta station. Most white people here are just too scared of Marta trains and would faint if they thought they had to ride the buses. I think that is stupid, but it is easy for the 6'3" 300lb guy to say.

The claim that they are putting it in the suburbs is laughable to me. It is barely outside the perimeter which nobody locally considers the suburbs. Oddly though, they are picking one of the yuppiest (sp?) areas and I do not see many of the people going that live close still. They will likely just bitch about the new traffic issues. I think the best option would have been to put it somewhere further north of Atlanta in Fulton County off of 400. The thing is, there is no way Fulton would have given them the sweetheart deal Cobb gave them. If the economy had not gone to shit and the plan for Milton county to be brought back by seceding from Fulton, they might have paid for them to move there.

Wasn't pre-Turner Field called Fulton Country Stadium and was in Fulton County? They sure move around a lot. Stick to one parking lot, like the Brewers.

They make you re-enter your card info since it would be easy to break into an account, buy a bunch of digital codes, and then there would be little way to track you. If you break in and buy physical goods they at least have a shipping address to track down. I haven't bought any PSN codes in awhile from amazon but I've never had a problem doing so.
Yeah, i get why they do it. And I'm fine with it since it makes things a bit more secure. I just couldn't get it to accept my card information for some reason. Their loss. I was able to use the same card to get a code at sony rewards.

Still feels like it sometimes.

But I thought they opened one more recently. Like five years ago or something.

Still, 20 years seems like an awfully short time to be in a stadium, especially with how fancy they were making them starting in the mid-90s.
I can't imagine you would have known or thought about the AAA team stadium that is actually in the burbs, but it opened in 2009. That is the only thing anywhere near to 5 years ago. The GA Dome is older than the Ted. It is being replaced as well.

I think Philips Arena had some renovations done, but those were relatively minor and I can not imagine they made national news.

Fulton County Stadium was right next door to where the Ted is. There is a spot in the parking lot that marks home plate of Fulton County Stadium. They had no choice but to build the Ted to get the Olympics. However, that meant that it was not initially built as a high end ballpark like most were around that time.

I actually have a framed picture of this somewhere that I bought years ago. It is from opening day at the Ted. I am not sure how I do not know where that is anymore. Maybe we got rid of it.

OK so they did do the Brewers plan of build the new stadium in the parking lot of the old stadium. All your counties and suburb mentiones got me confused.

The old home plate location from the old County Stadium is actually home plate of a little league field smack dab in the middle of the parking lots. It's pretty awesome. I like to watch the sausages play catch in there before Sunday afternoon games.

Camden Yards doesn't need to be replaced. Great ballpark. I do wish they had never included "Oriole Park at" in the name, though. "Camden Yards" was perfect. But I can't really complain much because at least it's not Verizon Field or something like that.

So a dude on GameGravy reviewed the PS4 version of Citizens of Earth just now and gave it an 8.  I can't imagine a texture upgrade and (possible) lack of crash bugs would boost it 2.5 from what I played, but whatevs.  Arbitrary numbers and all that jazz.  His recommendation at the end is what sounds weird to me.

Sorry. Fulton County is a monstrous beast of a county. That is because it is what used to be 2 counties, Fulton and Milton, which were merged into one many many years ago. That happened because Milton was at the time bankrupt and Fulton County saved it. I live in the very Northern part of Fulton county, but it would take me a good 40 minutes or so to get to the stadium if there was no traffic. Fulton goes even further south of the stadium.

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Alpharetta,+GA/Turner+Field,+755+Hank+Aaron+Drive+Southeast,+Atlanta,+GA+30315/@33.8837567,-84.4460324,11z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x88f5749f68c5f537:0xc112d56128654c4e!2m2!1d-84.2940899!2d34.0753762!1m5!1m1!1s0x88f503a25f89305f:0xf9c86cfe1420736f!2m2!1d-84.389973!2d33.734808!3e0

That top part of the county you can kind of see in the map that is shaded a darker green is what was Milton County. There was a big push to get Milton county separated from Fulton again. Why? Rich white folk from where I live hate that all their taxes are funding South Fulton now. Fulton saved Milton, and now Milton is saving Fulton oddly enough. If the economy had not gone to shit I think it would have happened. Now, I am not so sure it ever will.

If it had, I could have seen the new Milton county wanting to lure the Braves to go somewhere near the Roswell area on that map.

I am fairly certain that sale is what got Antoine Rolle to sign with the Bears last week.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25109595/antrel-rolle-signed-with-bears-after-sign-from-god-and-orbitz

I just asked God -- it was Sunday night before I was going to sleep -- I just asked him, "God, I pray that you just give me a level head. I pray that you just give me a sign to lead me in the right direction, and I'll follow your lead."

It was Monday morning at 4:33 a.m. I never wake up in the middle of the night, and it was 4:33 Monday morning, and I got an email to my phone. And the email said, "Orbitz alert: flights to Chicago, discount fare." And I'm like, "wow," you know what I mean?

Gator, did you see where the Braves and Comcast just announced a big megadeal for the new stadium? The plan is for it to be the "most technologically advanced" ballpark. Comcast is also building a new office building beyond right field that will house 1,000 employees.
Will it have a sweet left field sculpture like this?

I have never done any drugs in my life besides alcohol. I am pretty boring. However, if I were ever going to experiment I would want to get some of the cocaine whoever came up with that thing was on. It must have been some good stuff.

I hope they don't carry over the same clowns who do customer service now. Then again it might be better then the schmucks running most of the concessions at MLB parks.

My kid just grabbed my vita, dropped it off in her play area, then went to my game collection grabbed a shit load of vita games and took them over with her to the vita.

It has begun.

I have taught her  well.

When I went a couple years ago, the first time we took a bus that left a block or two from Five Points. The second time, we took a cab from Five Points. That was the first time I'd ever taken one. It was like $12 and I gave him $15 and waited for change, and he just did the stare ahead thing waiting for us to get the fuck out.

The last time, we ended up taking the Braves shuttle that leaves from Underground Atlanta. That felt way safer than when we took the regular bus the first day.

Yep they paid nearly 3 million dollars for that too. It was taxpayer money too, it's over three years and my family is still pissed off about it.

You felt unsafe on the bus itself? I could see people possibly feeling a bit unsafe at 5 Points Marta station if they are not used to being the minority in an area.

How long was it since you have been to Underground? That place is becoming pretty well known for crime these days. However, it is being sold to a developer who plans to renovate it all. Who knows if that will turn it back around or not.

Maybe unsafe isn't the right word, but it did feel odd being the minority. I didn't notice it anymore by the end of the trip.

2013 was the last time I was there. We walked through there a couple times, but I never felt like I was in any danger.

It's always super awkward trying to decide if you should try to wait for lunch so you can go with the new guys that just started so they don't get lost or whatever and to not come off as a selfish dick.

But at lunchtimes I kinda want to be a selfish dick because daddy wants to gorge on his burrito in peace.

peace guys

also all the sports talk helps me get caught up on the thread faster :)

I can't get the PSN web store to load. I'm still trying to decide if I should get Saints Row 2 or SR3, or both, or neither. Under $7 for SR3 Full Package seems like a great price. No trophies for SR2, but I've heard that might be the best one.

I tried playing SR2 a couple years ago and it was so outdated I just couldnt do it. Might just be me though.

Saints row 2 is dope. I like the direction the games went with 3 but the secret ending of SR2 is one of the best scenes in gaming ever.

I can not speak to 2, but I would definitely consider getting 3 if I were you. I thought it was a blast to play. SR4 was not as fun to me, but was not awful. I wanted it to be more fun like SR3 was and it just wasn't for me. Gat out of Hell was too damn grindy and too light on story.

Oh yeah. I was gonna get that SR4 season pass. Shit. Did we determine if it was worth it? Haven't played the game yet, but I have the disc hanging out in its shrink wrap at home.

I guess the best analogy I can think of is, Grand Theft Auto is Halloween, Saint's Row 2 is Scream, and Saint's Row 3 is Scary Movie.

You have the serious originator of the gameplay, the game satirizing the originator, and then the full-blown parody of the satirizer. If you like GTA but hate that there is just a little too much serious shit, then SR2. If you like ridiculous and over the top, then SR3.

Which Scary Movie sequel does that make SR4?

I think I'll get SR3 for sure. I usually prefer physical over digital, but I'm slowly giving that battle up due to sale prices.

Also, shout out to jimbo for hooking me up with a code for The Last of Us Remastered.

I had the same plan, but after Gat Out of Hell I kind of changed my mind. If I play the DLC later it will be if I play the PS4 version again. My choices on Gamefly will have to be pretty slim before I play that again now I think.

If anyone wants to give out more codes to The Last of Us Remastered count me in.  I didnt play it on PS3 because I knew it would come to PS4 and look awesome.
