I don't see why they need to have the different Direct Xs as different versions. That makes no damned sense. Do the Japanese think this is consoles and Dx9 is last gen and Dx11 is next gen?
I'm assuming that DX9 will be cheaper? Maybe they're hoping that people buy the cheaper one, and then feel bad about having the inferior version and then pay again.

Edit: My question was answered above; I should read.

the dlc was significantly better than the base game, too. level design was substantially improved
Yeah, I've heard a LOT of good things. I only have the PS3 version of the base game though, and I'm not sure I remember the DS1 DLC going on sale, so I may end up paying full price when I beat Bloodborn.

I have a hard time believing that if Valve released HL3 in ten years that nobody would care. It's been ten years already and people still talk about it nonstop, if Valve released the game I have a feeling there'd be a good deal of excitement about it.

Portal was released after Half Life 2 as well. Those are two pretty significant predominantly singleplayer games.

If you really want to nitpick Valve, you'd say that Valve has more or less purchased their last several games and then co-developed them. Portal comes from the Narbacular Drop team (now a part of Valve), Left 4 Dead from Turtle Rock Studios, Team Fortress 2 mod team employed by Valve, and DOTA 2 (hired by Valve). To their credit, they've done very, very well with the games they've chosen and shepherded into the marketplace.

I do wish they'd move at faster than a snails pace though. They are capable of releasing high quality games whenever the mood strikes.
well stated indeed. I think most of us would enjoy Valve actually publishing more quality games.

In ten years people will say, "Valve? That company that had some crappy game service back before everyone used Uplay?"

So, with the big sale on Warhammer stuff this weekend, I feel like I should point this out:

If you're looking to buy everything Dawn of War related, don't buy the Warhammer: Dawn of War Franchise Pack  .

You can save $5.51 buying the Warhammer: Dawn of War II - Grand Master Collection and the Warhammer: Dawn of War - Master Collection separately. The first collection has 23/27 items in the Franchise Pack, and the second collection has the remaining 4.

I've gone through SteamDB as well, just to be sure and everything checks out. So unless there's some sort of secret special edition that doesn't show up as DLC, there's no difference in buying the games piecemeal.

Hey, no one asked for all your fancy maths, man. Show off.

Or you can use a time machine and get it all for $9.99

I must say, I've been sorely tempted by that twelve and a half dollar Alien Isolation in the current Sega sale.

I have to keep telling myself, "you wouldn't play it right now anyway" and "the MSRP will probably go down by the Summer Sale".

It's bad for me since I have plenty of Gaben Funbux to cover it and I'm really not spending them on anything else. I actually really want to play it, but I think I can wait until it's under $10.

Is anyone biting on this Square Enix Easter Surprise Bundle? It's about $5.94 and includes 5 games. But what are the chances any of them will be Final Fantasy and not Hitman/Tomb Raider/Supreme Commander/Humble Squeenix repeats?
Thanks!

I'll have them all already and it'll be massively disappointing, but these bundles are usually pretty good value.

Yay for giveaways!

Uplay will have acquired and consumed Origin/EA by then as well.
Nah Uplay will be owned by EA who will be owned by the Carnegies while Steam will consume GOG, GG, and GMG and be owned by the Morgans.

And CAGs will rejoice as there will finally be Steam sales that aren't terrible. Humble bundle will still be putting out horrible comedy bundles though.

I just did. Betting on very remote chance of having some FF games in it.

Knowing my luck it will only include games, that I already own.

I think you misjudged why people were "excited" for that game.

Trainwrecks are fun when you aren't on the train.
I thought Duke Nukem Forever was fascinating. It was like an interactive documentary of failure.

Having said that, I thought it was better than the anti-hype to which it was subjected. It became something of a witch hunt in the gaming press after it was released.

Yeah. It was like a time machine was transporting you through mediocre executions of shooter trends from 1999 to present.

But I rented it and played through it when it came out, and didn't think it was unplayable or anything. That water section was pretty trash, though.

Its best qualities are as some sort of bizarre historical document.

EDIT: I also thought Aliens: Colonial Marines was 'not that bad.' I think it's just an issue of mediocre games getting in the hands of people who rarely play anything unpolished.

If someone has been late, you will get your steam key for Sould Gambler later.

I don't know when you played it, but I bought a copy for $60 at launch and while it wasn't the worst thing ever, it was still incredibly disappointing. Still mad at Gearbox for the accusations they've received over the whole debacle.

Is it even worth it to get Soul Gambler? I'd say yes but then how many +1's does a person really need?

Code:
The answer is beat Bobby's score. At whatever cost.

See this is why you never preorder or buy at launch. Because then you expect it to have $60 worth of entertainment. I got it at $2 and for that price I had no complaints. It just felt like your average space shooter. The only game I bought for close to MSRP that I felt I got my moneys worth was Skyrim (I think I paid a little over $60 for the game + all its DLC, got 300+ hours played) but those kind of games are few and far between.

I guess the lesson is; don't believe the hype. Wait till there are reviews out so you can decide for yourself what it's worth.

Yeah, I very rarely buy day 1 or do that sort of thing, but the hype behind it was just too strong for me. They seemed like legitimate Aliens fans and nobody could predict the clusterfuck it turned into (E3 footage was all bullshit). But at least I got it for PC with the Season Pass (never bothered buying DLC for my 360 copy) for $3 total. That made me feel better.

It'll be in the Sega Humble $1 tier next week with all DLC

I guess that part of it is that I generally don't find video games rewarding in a "sense of achievement" sort of way. Entertaining, sure and there's a reward in having successfully amused yourself for a period, but I'm not one to usually think "Man, I feel fulfilled now that I've killed that dragon" or "I've done something special in getting good at killing goblins". In other words, if the game play or story or world creation or something isn't grabbing me soon in then I'm usually not inclined to try and push through and wait for the entertainment to happen.
Never played an NES game? Cause I sure as shit felt a sense of achievement when I finally beat SMB, Ghost and Goblins, Bayou Billy, Rush N Attack, and TMNT.

I rarely pre order games...only ever pre-ordered Bioshock Infinite and Dark Souls 2; I was pretty happy with both purchases. I'll also be pre-ordering Zelda Wii U

/things people don't care about but at least i didn't talk about my first pair of sandals or wutevar

The only reason I can see for preordering or buying day 1 is to beat the game before your friends. My max for any game purchase is half of MSRP, which only happens with good first-party Nintendo games. Otherwise, the game can just sit on the store shelf collecting dust. This is Cheap Ass Gamer, not "Preorder Full MSRP So I Can Be The First To Max Out My Spartan And Pwn 10 Year Olds Online In Halo 5" Ass Gamer.

Hype consumerism and +1 consumerism are completely different.

Bloodborne

Also: Halo 5 and Zelda U (worthy Day1 purchases)...although Halo 5 is turning out to be a wash since the MP beta was horrrrrrrible

If I buy a game at full msrp on launch, it's because I want to play it. Your reasoning is bad and you should feel bad.

Also, no one plays Halo online anymore, though mostly because the damn thing doesn't work. Thanks, Obama AmazonJosh.

Halo MCC worked for the first time for me last weekend....then after 3 days it stopped working. Was having a great time. Now IDGAF about it since 343 is trash

That's foolish. You can get much more value for $60. That's just the publicity talking; someone told you you needed to have it for $60, and you agreed. You morans know I'm right. Your reasoning is bad, and you don't even realize it.

I generally don't do MSRP unless it's a niche game that has been out a while that I can read about, or has a lot of early praise, or I will play with my friends immediately. or I will play immediately. I am getting my fun out of Bloodborne and it helps that everyone is playing. Now something like Evolve I wish I passed on as we played it like a week and a half or so and gave up. It was way too repetitive and I likely need to trade it in while it still has some value. If I wont play right away I generally wont pay MSRP. Just about every game sans some LEs and CEs go down in price over time. We just need to be patient.

Why would you pay for a $60 game when it can be had for less with BBY GCU. Also why does it bother you what people do with their money. If they are fans of a series or are thoroughly interested in a game they can spend what they want. If you get their money's worth that's great. You've been trying to stir up drama in multiple threads on CAG lately. How about you stop.
