So I purchased the DS1:pTD edition and I can not, for the life of me, get it to run. If someone could help me out, either through PM or on Steam, I'd really, really appreciate it.

Are you trying to play Steamworks-only version (from Opting Into the Beta) or the original G4WL version?

Personally, I'd opt into the Beta, if you haven't - G4WL sucks. G4WL has always been problems. From updating not at all, trying to re-update, updates not taking, games not booting, games-save being encrypted, game-saves corrupting, any other nonsense, etc etc - it can be a nightmare, unlike Steam.

If you're using G4WL version (i.e. you didn't opt into Beta for Steamworks only) - check and see if any other G4WL games you have installed actually work. If many of them don't work - well, you'll know what the problem is: it's G4WL. I've always had problems w/ updating G4WL, unlike Steam. So, that could be the issue. I don't know. Worth checking, anyways.

Are you also trying to run with DSFix?

You might wanna at least boot the game in 720p without it and back-up a clean copy of the game-folder somewhere else (DVD, another HDD, etc), before you even apply DSFix.

AO settings can put a strain on your PC - so, might wanna turn that off.

 
Thinking I should have hopped on that IGN/Endless Legend promo as I enjoyed it during the free weekend.  Hopefully it hits 75% off or so in the next major sale.

I'd happily buy at $15 upper tier. I really liked what I played, and only stopped as I didn't want to get so far in and have to quit/pay an inflated price.

At first all I could think of was "it's a bit like Civ". But after a while I was thinking "why didn't Civ do this?".

I get the hype about it.

I just bought it so I think it's steamworks only.

Yes to DSfix, but it was broken before that.

Problem is the only good coupons are the ones that stack with sale prices. And I don't think any of those are on sale or will be by the end of the week. :whistle2:(

I'd take the Battle vs Chess one if there was a sale though.

KF2 is Early Access. I don't usually see Early Access games for sale elsewhere. You do see them in bundles though, but I doubt this would be in a bundle.
