GOG Deals Thread

It'll be a while, and by a while I expect to take 3 years minimum to complete. They still haven't fixed some very basic shit with their forum (it's nearly impossible to search for anything on it, and the rep system is broken.. I get derepped daily without posting there).
Right there with you man. Rep and searching are both worthless.

Oh and if you even MENTION rep on the forum, you'll get derepped to oblivion for the next 10 years.
Oh yeah! I think I had about 100 rep (not high) when I was derepped to hell to -5. I've slowly climbed up to 30ish and hope I don't get hit again.

So GOG has a friend feature in Galaxy now, but you need to add friends by hovering over one of their posts on the GOG forum.

Yes, this is possibly the dumbest invite system I've ever seen. I think GOG might turn into the Nintendo of community features

Worst part about Uplay is you have to sign into the client to use the keys.

It's ridiculous, no other client makes you do that.

As someone who just downloads all my GOG games and extras to an external hard drive and never plays them, I'm not sure I'll get much use out of galaxy.

Has anybody else had any problems with the GOG downloader eating RAM? The Mac version was working fine a few days ago, but I've been trying to download stuff through Windows to my new external for the last couple days, and my CPU usage goes straight to 100% when the GOG downloader is active.

Just to be clear, I'm not talking about the client, just the downloader they've always had.

I still haven't gotten my beta invite.
I got my Alpha Invite to GOG Galaxy.

Redeemed it on their Redeem Gift page.

Did the download yesterday.

I look forward to this going out of Alpha one day and when they actually enable Achievements + some of Galaxy's actual features.

Uh.. it's been out of alpha.. it's a beta.

You think my comparison to Uplay was unjust? Have you even used the client? It's garbage right now.

They unbundled our games for this?

Okay ohmagerdDRM concerns that only MysterD here gives a shit about aside, UPlay is light years ahead of Galaxy right now. So is Origin. So is Desura which BTW is also optional and allows for DRM free games.

Hell I think the god damned Big Fish client beats Galaxy at this point.

There's a Big Fish client???

Are these new Star Trek games any good? I am a big fan of ToS, but came late to the party, so I have never tried or heard of any of these.
I just got that email was like...oh fuck ! I have to buy that even though I still have the old discs.

ST: 25th and JR are the two sole best Star Trek games you'll ever play. It has everything a Trekker could ever want in a game...well OK there's no ground combat but hey, this is a 90's Point-N-Click adventure at its finest. If you don't have them and are a fan of Star Trek or adventure games, you owe it to yourself to play 'em...now.

Starfleet Academy is supposed to be a ship simulator but plays more like Descent. Meh acting doesn't help either but it's OK and I always have a soft spot since it was the first game I played on an old $3000 Gateway 2000 computer in 1999.

I seriously did NOT see this coming...gonna have a party at my house after work.

Oh GOG, how you tempt me so...

I played Star Trek 25th Anniversary (did I play Judgement Rites also? can't remember) back in the day and thought it was very good.

I think it may have been one of the first Trek (adventure) games with not only voice overs, but the voice overs with the actual actors who portrayed the characters. Also has the music and special effects sounds from the show. I'm gettin' all nostalgic now...

Haven't played Star Trek: Starfleet Academy...but it looks like one of those "so bad it might be good" partial FMV we luv from the '90's.

Wha? Fantasy General too?!?!?.....do I wait 2 weeks before they appear on Steam, or do I let GOG tricksy me....

I dont remember which one but I remember playing one of them (probably 25th anniversary since that looks more familiar) when I was younger. I do remember enjoying it since I was more in to adventure games back then

I just hope this means ST Armada is coming, those were some good rts games

You. Have. GOT. To be fucking kidding me.

I actually have a huge bunch of Star Trek games, complete in box. Several are sealed. And now this happens. ARGH.

Edit: IF, and I do mean this as a huge if, we get a chance to redeem the serial keys from some older games (the Unreal engine based ones, especially) to get them on GOG, that would be amazing. But I sincerely doubt that'll happen.

I got a set of twelve Star Trek games a few years ago, brand new, intending to sell them off on eBay. But nobody wanted to pay the shipping cost for them. After a while, I just went "fuck it, there's no chance these will ever be digitally re-released, not when CBS will probably want a ton of dough to do it."

And I just won Judgment Rites in a forum auction last week. (The item was completely trashed so it went to the dumpster immediately, no biggie I guess.)

So I basically bought the game last week so it would show up on GOG. For you guys.

Oh, OK. I appreciate your sacrifice. Would you mind going out and getting the '83 Star Wars Arcade game this weekend? I'd really like to have that on GOG.

Go buy the "No One Lives Forever" series now please.

Star Trek 25th was excellent in it's time... I imagine it holds up well.

I swear I remember my CD-ROM version of it supporting spoken voice commands... which some quick googling is turning up no mention of.

Soundblaster 16 w/SCSI 2X CD-ROM drive and full-size MIDI DINs...
