They gave away Black Flag for :360: and then turned around and gave it away for :xb1:, so there is a precedent. I hope they put it up because it will make me feel better about passing on it when it was ~$10.

Gears 2 was just as tactical, but they went in reverse in speed of movement. Plus its matchmaking and servers were absolute shit. Gears 3 wasnt tactical in least unless you played "mlg" crap. Gears 1 had low damage because of the p2p online. The damage is now more accurate to how it was on LAN.

Gears 2 had improvements. Like meatshield, horde, and guardian.
 
So looks like the 360 deals are.....lame. Really had hoped that seeing an "indie" sale on Xbone would mean we'd get some arcade love.

But MS fails yet again....
 
Heads up for those getting GoatZ. The MMO part is not a real MMO. Yes people are talking in chat, yes you will see your friends walking around, and yes you'll see other goats lagging. All tricks to make you think it is a real MMO. I love it.

Campaign-wise, maybe. Multiplayer-wise? Most people who played Gears 1 when it was popular will tell you none of the sequels were as good as 1. 3 came pretty close, but 1 was by far the best online game I've ever played. 2 was a steaming pile of garbage online the first year it was out.

  • Updated to delivery for today before 5:30.
  • Got a text at 15:41 saying it was delivered, left on the front porch. Yay!
  • Got a text at 15:42 saying "Updated delivery day to 8/24." OK?
  • Texted my nephew until he's sick of me, nothing delivered.
  • Check the UPS website, delivery change to 8/24 by EOD.
  • Just after 22:00, still no delivery.
WTF UPS, just say it will get here on 8/25 and quick fvcking with me...

It's 1080p/30fps with sharper textures according to a lot of people who played it early. Also has all the DLC.

If your going to play it right away and never played Dishonored before then It's probably worth the $20. Otherwise hold it for a even steeper sale considering the 360 version was GWG and should suffiice. Only thing your really missing on is next gen controls and achievements as well as the DLC. It sounds like a bare effort HD port, which is probably why they are trying to dump it for $20 to a lot of people.

People are all over the place with their favorite Gears game and pretty much only agree on one thing - it's not Judgment.

But yeah, I played Gears 2 at launch for a few days and couldn't stand the MP and didn't touch it again until after 3 came out. By then, it went through so many TU updates and seemed like a different game. I played it extensively alongside Gears 3 for over 6 months and only quit because Host advantage and bots (who basically just read your inputs and kill you) were out of control.

i started pre-loading it before i went to work. when i got home, i saw it stopped at 19%, possibly an issue with the external drive i was saving it to. instead of hitting resume installation, i accidentally hit cancel and i had to start over :(

the game was ready to play at 23 or 24% and it hit this percentage at 12:15 EST, so i'm not sure i could have actually started playing it much earlier.

 
Holy moly I have nearly all the games on sale for Xbox One already. Perks of reviewing such games I guess. I'll drop a short view on the games I played out of the ones on sale.

Life Is Strange: It may not be an amazing sale, but trust me, this thing is worth even at full price. It's practically a Telltale game, except miles better, with engaging storyline, lovely characters, awesome time-bending game mechanics, cool puzzles, fantastic artstyle... many will tell you this is one of the games of the year despite this being the season of many great triple-A titles, but while it'll certainly be cheaper you won't regret this buy.

Stealth Inc. 2: A fast and fun little stealth platform game with some surprisingly dark moments despite its cute look and plenty of content. 5-6 hours worth of levels and a powerful editor, and while the controls are probably a little basic, it's great if you enjoy indie stealth games (Monaco was one, albeit different in execution, so if you liked that one you should consider this one).

The Swapper: This is one I'd like to recommend you blidnly. It's a fantastic exploration/puzzle game from a side view in an incredibly atmospheric and impressive world, where you use an innovative "swapper" weapon that allows you to clone yourself and switch your soul from one to another, while the other clones follow you, allowing you to resolve weight, gravity, etc. based puzzles as a deep and dark storyline unfolds. It's incredibly profound and amazing with two endings nonetheless, plus it's an easy 1000G if you follow a guide (otherwise it's nearly impossible to do any of the cheevos). Consider this one, I gave it 9.2/10 in my review, only Rare Replay got a higher rating from me this year.

Badland: This is a popular mobile game on Xbox One, and you can see why. The gameplay is simplicistic but very fun, once you start handling a lot of creatures at once it becomes frantic and exciting, and there's plenty of content. The art style is quite fascinating (think a better looking Limbo) and the musics are awesome too, this one's a fun little timewaster that should be considered surely.

Worms Battlegrounds: If you somehow missed when it was free for Gold, what to say? This is Worms. It's the new kind of side-view Worms, with 3D characters, water and item physics and more. A mere upgrade from Revolution but if you didn't play that one this one's really fun, especially in multiplayer. The price is ridiculously high normally so the sale is really welcome.

LA Cops: Avoid. This game tries to be Hotline Miami in an 80's cop TV show setting, and it succeeds in the atmosphere. But the AI is ridiculously bad and inconsistent. Level design is stupid with tons of holes in walls that you'll hardly even notice but where enemies WILL see you. They can even hear you but due to glitches sometimes they'll hear you 20 rooms away, other times ignoring you in the very same room. Partner's AI is horrible too. It gets better once you upgrade your stuff to the max, but until that point it's really frustrating. Hotline Miami was hard but hair because the game worked and you needed strategy. Here you need to improvise half of the times because the AI is an unpredictable mess. Again: avoid.

Ziggurat: Ever played Heretic, the old Doom-engine fantasy FPS? Or perhaps Hexen? Well, this one looks like that one, except it's an exciting dungeon-based roguelike. Randomly generated content, permadeath, tons of different rooms, enemies, items and weapons, a fast and frantic gameplay, cool graphics... if you like old school FPS games and roguelikes, don't miss this one, it's very well done. It's like a better version of Tower Of Guns and Paranautical Activity.

Ultratron: A fairly limited in size but fun and precise twin stick shooter. Tight controls, cool atmosphere, a neverending campaign with infinite levels of increasing difficulty... it's a cool one. The low price makes it really easy to pick up and play, and the difficulty is fair and cool. Check it out if you have some spare dollars.

That is all that I played, I hope this helps you decide what to buy and what you should avoid.
