If anything, I think it'd be better to have played MGS3, Peace Walker, and Ground Zeroes before Phantom Pain, but according to reviews (or at least what snippets I've seen since I'm still avoiding reading them) this is the easiest MGS to get into.

There are some aspects of MGS4 that I could see playing an important role in understanding some of Phantom Pain, though--particularly during the ending.
I have Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes. Maybe I'll pick up 3 on vita and try to binge them before trying to play Phantom Pain.

Are there six bosses? I was on the 6th one but died.

Had a really good run going then good powerups completely dried up on me during the last 10 waves.

EDIT: Just read your other post where you say there are 6.
You probably know this already, but the Letter (Bowl) is the most important powerup you can get since it gives you 3 extra hits before you die.

This is where I'm at. I told myself I was going to play them all starting in January so I'd be ready by now, instead I'm somewhere in the middle-ish of 2 lol.

Looks like the store is no longer selling anything online as of tomorrow at 1pm PST, so get it while the gettins good!

EDIT: Also the Add to Cart button is disabled for me so maybe the gettins no longer good and actually bad.
Putting it that cheap, I'm sure they sold quickly. I wonder what the shipping was.

For that price, it was tempting, but really, I just don't see using it much.

My only fear is burnout. Pretty sure I never finished 2 either back in the day. I probably should just suck it up and start back at 1.

I've not played my PS3 in a while.  Couple days ago I played LBP with my kid.  Out of my 4 dualshocks, 2 no longer charge (they still work if I have them plugged into power), and they all feel like the buttons are not as responsive as they once were.  Probably due to me mostly using the Dualshock 4 and Vita far more, and going back to my old Dualshock 3's they feel really used.

I'm surprised that the Dualshock 3 still goes for the same price of $54.99 in stores.  I found these (link below) for $9.99 each, no shipping.  Certainly a cheap knock off, but they are well reviewed.  People note the vibrate is rather weak, but that isn't a deal breaker for me.

Anyone have experience with these, or the cheap knock offs in general?  I seem to remember something a few years ago that there was a PS3 update that made knock off DS3's stop working.  Did I dream that?

Yeah, that's what happened with me. Too much stealth all at once. I haven't played a stealth type game in a while though, so I should be good to get through at least the rest of 2 and 3 in the next month or so.

R Mika, whoever that is, is going to be in SF5? Is that news?
R Mika was a busty lady rassler from (I think) the SF Alpha series. I like seeing these different characters coming back, it makes it so SF4 and SF5 can coexist as different games entirely instead of something like blazblue where every iteration looks and plays the same and has essentially the same cast + 2 with some gameplay changes.

ah here's a trailer

Just get an actual DS3. You will be shocked how long a new one will keep a charge and how much tighter it feels compared to an old one. I got one with a Vita TV package and I am happy I got it.

Ive gotten a couple knockoffs before that looked exactly like the real ones. They both did exactly what your old ones do and don't charge but work when they are plugged in. They were supposedly "brand new."

I would see if you can maybe find a good replacement battery. It looks like it is five screws to get it open. No soldering or anything. Batteries go for $7 - $13 plus shipping on Amazon. Maybe check out the reviews and see if one gets enough decent reviews to take a chance on.

Shutshimi is still awesome, but I think the devs could have done one of three things to make it better:

1. Make more trophies out of the Awardments and give the game a plat.

2. Offer a Plus discount for the first week--20% or more would have been nice.

3. Charge less for the game overall--maybe $7.50 or $5? There isn't a whole lot more to the game once you've beaten the six bosses and Boss Rush (which I'll do once the patch is released).
Tyler actually asked the Dev the first question. They actually wanted to have the awardments as trophies but they were categorized as the small game list so they couldn't get the plat. Looks like they didn't choose to be in it and it probably required more work that they weren't aware of at that point.

So I bought my parents a sofa set and got a $800 gc for Bestbuy to buy a tv with.  I could just go on a spree and preorder a shit ton of games but I think it is time to upgrade from my 24 inch tv to something bigger.  Anyone have any recommendation, what size tvs do you guys own?

Shovel Knight Amiibo rumors going around again in full force this time.

At this point I'm not entirely clear on why Sony doesn't just axe the small list.

Consider the tv size a factor of distance. If you're normally sitting 6 feet away or less, 40" (or even less) is fine. As you get further away, scale up the size. Try it out at the store - count the steps from your tv to your normal sitting area and then count them out at best buy with the displays and see how they fill your field of vision.

One thing you'll run in to is everything in a reasonable price range generally only has 2 hdmi inputs these days which might be enough but for most of our ilk it isn't.

Well the only HD TV I ever owned was the Sony 3D TV display so anything would be an upgrade. Like a tv remote, not turning off after I shut down my ps4, not flickering every 5 minutes, etc. I'm going to put it in my room so I doubt a 65" would be logical even though I kind of want one.

I've got 55" in my living room and 42"(?) in my bedroom. Size upgrade would definitely be my choice. You can get a decent tv for under $500 and still have some left over for games.

If you are used to a 24" screen I wouldn't go too big. I have a 32" that I use for gaming but I sit about 5 to 6 feet away from it and it's plenty big. I agree with mild about the hdmi inputs being only 2 on most reasonable deal TV's, epecially in the 32" range so you may have to go 40". I think that's what I'm going to get soon because my tv has been acting up for awhile.

Amazon Underground has a bunch of apps and games for free. I'm still looking for the fine print. I did find Ducktales and Castle of Illusion so far.

I actually like the small list compared to the xbox "I don't give a fuck" list of 1000 gamerscore of everything. It's just I wish someone actually took the time sorting them into the categories.
It doesn't make sense for Shutshimi to be considered a "small game" while Super Exploding Zoo is apparently a "large/big game". Doesn't this also contradict what that other dev said on NeoGAF about developers having free reign for adding plats?

I'm not sure why no one uses their PS TVs. It's great for PS4 remote play. I use it from time to time to play the PS4 in my office when the kids are watching the TV. It doesn't play all Vita games but it does play quite a few. It's nice to have it in standby all the time for insta-boot to get in a quick game of Spelunky or Pix The Cat. The device itself is super small and not bad at all for what it is. Especially at $40 or less it's sweet.
