This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

I do think it's weird that Arkham Knight doesn't launch the first time, but has no problem the second time around... but I guess I should just be grateful that I am able to play it at all. Thanks for putting that in perspective for me synnarc.

Two week trip to Germany, France, Luxembourg, and Austria. Best trip of my life, had a blast. My wife and I saved for ages to take this once in a lifetime trip before we have kids. We took over 2000 pictures but I haven't even unpacked yet, so it'll be some time before I even sort through them. I'll try to remember to post a few highlight pics when I go through them. Top two things: castles and beer/food, sweet Jesus I don't think I had a bad meal while I was there.

Too far away, we rented a car in Frankfurt and drove everywhere for two weeks. Went over to Luxembourg, down the France/Germany border, into the Black Forest and southern Germany, back up to Munich, into the alps and over to Vienna, finally back through Germany to Frankfurt, stopping at all sorts of cities/towns along the way.

Before they're wards of Rhode Island or where ever, if you have one that's 4 to 5 ish and particularly endearing, I wouldn't mind your assistance. If Hollywood and movies are to be believed, being a single man with a young child could really give me a boost in the "chick magnet" department. AND If I get some particularly hot ladies out this, your kid can have all the ice cream he/she can consume. Talk it over with the wife for me.

Pedobear alert!

So on a non pedobear note, the bros have been MIA the last few weeks due to work obligations, but I've scheduled a few events:

Insurgency, Earth Defense Force, GRID 2

Next week I will also schedule the events for Orror October! (British pronunciation). You'll have your usual stuff, KF, L4D, and some other stuff too! Also in October the wife is going off on a weekend trip with the lasses so I'll actually be able to game on the weekend for once! Woo hoo!

On another non pedobear note, I finally installed Windows 10 and in the words of Ronald McDonald "I'm loving it!"

Apparently there's a new 5% off code at Win/Mac game store BARGAINMOOSE. Read that over at Reddit. Once in a while they are good for something. I just tried it and seems to work on one game too.

Also reminder that the Steam daily of Escapists at 40% off is currently cheaper at 65% off (+another 5% w/ BARGAINMOOSE) at wingamestore.com.

You'll have to get the DLC at Steam though and it is on sale 40% off right now.

Escapists Walking Dead is due on 9/30 but it's a totally separate game and only has a token pre-order discount.

Bleh you made me feel guilty so I got off my ass to play it only to find out movement is only through WASD on the keyboard. It's not possible to rebind keys even though the game has been out over a year (dev said two months ago it's coming 'soon') and there's no controller support even though it's out for consoles too and obviously has it there.

fuck it, I can't play this game. I know I'm weird and whatever but I just can't do WASD. My brain isn't wired for it, it doesn't make sense to me and it's too damned close to other keys. Plus I prefer using my right hand for controls.

I always remap to the arrow keys because that makes sense to me but obviously that was too damned much work for the dev of this little NES game. :roll:

See this is why I don't play the games I buy. Then I find some shit that pisses me off. If I just lie to myself and say I will play it someday then I can pretend it's great.

I don't know why, I just always use the arrow keys and never have used WASD since early on. Most games will have those as a default backup / mirror to WASD and the ones that don't give you the option to remap it.

But yeah I generally will also opt for a controller when that's an option. Especially for something that looks like an NES game anyway. :p

Weirdo.

I agree about controller use, but WASD is very natural for me to use, more so than the arrow keys if playing with keyboard.

That said, this game is on Xbox One, so the fact it doesn't have controller support is literally inexcusable.

MysterD does the same thing, but I think he's left handed so there's some sense to it. Are you left handed?

If you want controller support couldn't you just use xpadder or joy2key or one of the hundred other programs for it?

fuck that. I'm not jumping through hoops for something that already has controller support anyway on consoles. Who the hell do they think they are, Bioware? And even they finally got a god damned clue with DAI.

Besides, native controller support is always better. They probably had to rejigger stuff to get the things you have to do with a mouse to work with a controller so the mouse stuff would be a pain to get to work with joy2key or whatever if you even could get it to work.

Probably you'd have to do some cockamamie combo solution like controller for movement and mouse for everything else. Also for some little fauxNES game.

Like I said, fuck that.

I can't stand arrow controls if a game has the use of a mouse in it also. Feels like my two hands should be humping each other they're so close together

 
You're not missing anything. The game is one of those over rated pieces of shit that people (hipsters?) think is cool to like just for the retro look. I put in a bunch of hours on the XB1 on it before I realized it was not very fun and quite shallow.

I wanted to go to Spain for our honeymoon but my wife was all "something something stole our culture" about it (she's from Peru). So we wound up going to Italy instead which was... okay. It didn't help that we went while the US dollar was at its nadir against the Euro so every day we'd wake up, turn on the news and see that our vacation fund was worth less than the night before. Granted that would have been the same issue in Spain.

I've "never" played L4D2 (multiplayer) before due to the insane try-hard community that expects you to have every map and zombie spawn location memorized or else you totally ruined their game and should just go murderfuck yourself to death. "Never" is in quotes because after my first experience, I wrote it off. Wouldn't mind playing with people who are okay with me being in last place (again).

This almost had me (I passed on Escapists out of pique when I couldn't get my 5%), but reading the impressions of the game upthread make me think that I'll just wait for a bundle.

I've only ever played MP L4D with family or CAGs/BGCQs/Bros and it's always been a blast. So I think you'll be fine. If Blade starts being too much of an ass we'll feed him to the witch.

I used to use arrow keys, and then my friends intervened and showed me what a retarded idea using the arrow keys was.

My rl friends aren't gamernerds and my gamernerd friends aren't rl friends. eh.

I'm fine with the arrows. It works for me. I know it's not the standard but I think allowing for remapping keys however the heck you want in a PC game with keyboard controls is generally pretty standard.

I can't imagine allowing the 4 directions to be remapped to other keys in what essentially looks like an NES game is so terribly difficult to do that over a year out it still isn't done and there's just 'Oh yeah I'll get to that someday' promises. But then again he's been busy cranking out DLC and making the Walking Dead thing a whole other game so you have to pay another $18 for more NES goodness.

I also always have used arrow keys for movement.

While I can tolerate WSAD if forced (if a game doesn't have native gamepad support), I absolutely do prefer arrow keys. I think it's b/c that was more common in mid-90's for default keys in FPS's and b/c I'm left-handed.

Most games should allow for remapping keys however you see fit on PC, but they don't always - i.e. Dead Space 1 PC doesn't allow for remapping keys to arrows since the HUD menu keys was locked to it.

You know what's odd on some PC games? Gamepad controls in more modern PC games sometimes don't seem to be re-mappable in-game.
