This thread will attempt to provide a place to discuss past/present/future PC gaming deals. While mainly focusing on Steam games, any standout sales may also be presented. I will not be updating every Daily/Weekly/etc. sale. The tools to help individuals become a smarter shopper will be provided below.

Works fine for me as well. I have noticed when I open it less than full screen in the steam client the past few days the store doesnt look right and things are all misaligned, but everything is there.

Edit - Stupid question... Are you in offline mode?

At least there's ways around it, if you actually took the update + you need to get around it just to run a SafeDisc game.

It's on the Microsoft site about the update.

This is all the more reason dev's + pub's should patch DRM-checks out of older retail-games they don't want to support anymore; re-publish these older games w/ more logical DRM-schemes like Steam (and Steam-only if they're going to DRM-laced it); and/or do re-release of said games with No-DRM onto GOG.

That'd be hilarious. But no i wasnt. and steam friends+library was working fine.
I opted out of beta and that fixed it.

Side note: I highly recommend Abe's Oddysee (original or new, but new "graphics" arent as dark and depressing as original). Childhood favorite of mine. might be rough around the edges, keyboard controls are weird and isnt too friendly with controllers if i recall correctly.

Is there a list of games affected? Because I wouldn't really care that some decade old shitty game becomes unplayable.

Also kind of funny how people on the internet are all like "don't ever install anything with securom, it will kill your parents and eat your pets" but the second Microsoft disables it you get an internet pitchfork mob that's like "omg taking away our games!!1! rabble rabble".

and everyone knows its simple to get the games working.......people just like to throw internet DRM tantrums because their parents are too cheap to take them to the doctor to get whatever undiagnosed syndrome that they are struggling with looked into

or they are european and they it doesn't matter because they don't count IRL anyway

Eh, Safedisc was pretty tame in comparison to stuff like Starforce. The problem is that it can be exploited by a hacker or ransomware assholes. SecuROM, other than limited activations, is also pretty easy to live with. (Edit: I just saw it's also disabled on Windows 10. Wonderful. Wonder if this will become an issue on 7 too.)

About a list... no real complete lists exist. There's been a few attempts at making such lists over the years but they never go anywhere. You can check PCGamingWiki though. Since this fix is now in the wild, some articles will have that info added.

I wonder if Macrovision could create an updated driver, or just patch out the vulnerabilities... heh, as if. They already got their money, so they don't give a fuck anymore.

Given what we just saw w/ Safedisc for Win Vista, 7, and 8 - it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft disables Securom in an update too.

At least there are workarounds, though.

They keep this up - they'll be turning Vista, 7, and 8 basically closer to Win 10.

hopefully they do...and all weirdos go to linux and then you can't play any games that are worth a shit and leave forever.

If it ever comes to me having to use Linux b/c somehow SteamOS or some Linux distribution version gets popular + has some kind of benefits to actually using it - I'd just dual-boot Windows and Linux.

who'd argue that the games requiring Windows aren't "worth a shit."

It was said by me to over-exaggerate and over-emphasize the amount of games we CAG's have.

Even if we buy and play a game, we'll still never catch-up b/c we buy at such an insane rate & ratio.

Though, it was quite a bit true when I was actually trying to earn cards + doing way less game-playing.

I'm just a gamer who prefers to play games on his PC at 1080p likely above 30FPS with Higher graphical settings than likely a console can offer b/c my PC that is equipped w/ now 4GB VRAM 960 can handle those settings.

There was no glitch. Well there was, but it was quickly corrected and no one actually got a game out of it. The only one people got free was the one they were supposed to get free. If you check Madjoki and Spoder and Tomasety's account none of them have New and Tasty. It's even still on Madjoki's wishlist.

I'm not saying they don't have no life and don't sit around in the chat room all damned day talking about nonsense while they wait for the one glitch a quarter to happen so they can hold it over all of you and go HA HA like Nelson from the Simpsons. Them bitches live for dat shiz. Don't get it twisted.

I'm just saying this time it didn't work and they were just enjoying pulling your legs until they fessed but it still went way the hell over some of your heads.

Someone should buy some Total War games from me so I can talk myself into the $15 tier.

I don't know why I want these games, its not like I play any of the Total War games I already have.  Total Warhammer (or whatever its called) sounds fun though.

Picked the right number the first time just to see that I already own Race Injection.

Be more funny if I picked the wrong number and inadvertently entered a key for GTAV or something.
