Brut is all going to be like:

Hey guys, I was absent for a while, not because I was banned, but because I was doing the art assets for a game.  It's called ARK and I get a proceeds of the profits for each sale.

And then we're going to make fun of Idiotekque even more.

Brut stole it! (Actually, the BoP Dev was implying that his hardships came from Microsoft boosting his concept):

When i checked out ARK it felt like someone bought BoP, took it's core mechanics and went through our suggestion forums to collect more ideas. Did you know i approached Microsoft in October 2014 for an XBOX One port and they sent me a XBOX SDK ? And suddenly a bunch of MS DEVs create their own company and create a BoP-like game with Unreal4... kinda my own fault...

How the private ARK server is now:

What the private server will look like when I finally get ARK on 75% off sale:

All I get when loading Battlefront is a black screen.. #EAisterribleateverything

Fallout 4 is gonna look like shit until someone makes mods...so I will wait.

Sandbox survival games are too much of a grind for me. Did anyone get around to playing Life is Feudal from that giveaway?

I idled my won copy of Life is Feudal for cards, sold those cards and then put the money towards a copy of Ark.

Working as intended.

If you're on Nvidia GPU - Did you update the drivers to the new SW:BF drivers?
I'm having no problems here w/ newest NVidia drivers on my 4GB 960.

Just tried Survival mode on Single-Player style to try to get used to controls and whatnot. Runs very well on my PC. 50-60 frames w/ almost everything here on Ultra.

I'm not buying a GFX card to just play a beta.

I also don't meet the minimum requirements when it comes to GFX card so yeah.

Yeah, this game flat-out requires a 2GB card period. Sometimes though, games can still boot and whatnot - you just have to go as low as you can go or to something that hopefully hits 30FPS at a resolution + Settings you can tolerate.

I'm checking out Drop Zone for MP now. This is a blast.

I have 2GB card, just not as beefy as they say I should. I'll give a try later today. I would hate to miss our date.

Will an Intel integrated GPU cut it with Ark? My laptop is meant for work and has 12GB system RAM, but no dedicated graphics card.

Not 100% sure but I know one of the potatoes or German plays with a crappy laptop. He posts screenshots like this

Wow... that hurt my eyes to watch.

Ark... I'd highly recommend (and you have to do this every time you go into Ark because it's dumb)...

Open up the console using the TAB button.

r.bloomquality 0

r.lightshafts 0

You're welcome.  It helps quite a bit with FPS but also gives you better look and makes the water less blinding to look at.

If you care, Bloom quality is a 0-5 and Light Shafts is on/off (0-1).

My personal issue was I have a castle on top of a mountain and I couldn't look out at all the openness without glare or crap in the way.  This made it so the panorama is nice.

I walked around, punched some trees, picked some apples, got scolded by the game for trespassing on someone's territory, and quit. Looked nice enough, but it didn't have an immediate hook that enticed me to punch more trees.

What's the tree-punching ratio in ARK? Might have to bite, since i'm a lemming.

You can fix that permanently btw, see here

Go to folder "\ARK\Engine\Config\" open file "BaseScalabilty.ini" in Notepad++ and modify ALL of the "PostProcessQuality" sections to Change Bloom and Add Lightshaft settings accordingly.
Change "r.BloomQuality=2" to "r.BloomQuality=0"
Add "r.lightshafts=0"
Now these 2 settings will be Off when you start the game and whenever you change graphics in game they will stay off.

I was told that the game doesn't actually check the ini. Interesting.

Dear Ask Bruticis:

I've been looking at ARK a bunch trying to talk myself into fakeybroing it &  got my gf to watch a few videos as well.

She's somewhat interested in it too- but wants to sometimes play 'by ourselves' without PvP.

She keeps focusing on the co-op tag on the steam page.

Is it possible to just play with 2 people sometimes - without having to rent a private server?

Yup, you can run the game on your own local machine with you as the host. The only issue is a super annoying tether mechanic for local play, meaning you can't go very far (at all) from the host of the server. If someone gets too far away from the host, they get magically teleported back within the range of the host regardless of what they're doing.

Also, do keep in mind there won't be any PvP on my server until the Drabe's merry band of caggots indicates they are ready for PvP. It should be pretty hassle free in the beginning but I understand wanting to play just local at first.

Battlefront is a shit game lol.

IDC if anyone says "it's in beta".

Can't even play with friends if you are in their party.....can't join games together, can't do anything with friends.  EA never ceases to amaze me.

I was finally able to fix the black screen issue. If anyone has the same issue try the following:

1.  Go to the game properties.

2. Disable origin in game.

3. Type this in the box "-novid -noborder -windowed" (without quotation marks).

That got it running for me and played a round of survival and had a fucking blast.  Game looked great even on my crappy card and ran smoothly and well I am looking forward to Origin Mexico or India or somewhere getting me this game cheap.

Glad to hear you got it going + that you're digging it. :)

If you don't mind me asking + have any answers for these questions:

What is your rig's specs? What resolution?

What graphics settings you have it on overall (Low, Medium, High, Ultra, Custom)?

How's the framerates? (i.e. consistent 30 FPS; consistent 60 FPS; often b/t 30 to 60 FPS; or whatever).

I run it at like 1440x900 or less, I really don't remember what resolution my monitor is, but it's not like 1080P or anything.

I have a AMD FX 6300 chip and 8 GB of ram and a mother board. My graphics card is an AMD 65xx or 67xx (I honestly don't remember) it is 2GB and was like $30-40 after rebate last year.

I did auto graphics which the game told me was all low everything.

And I have no clue what the framerate is because I can't be bothered to run FRAPs and because I enjoy games as long as they don't stutter.

Completely reinstalling the game and origin works too...which was no issue for me since I have no shitorigin games installed ;)

FRAPS + MSI Aftersburner - yeah, probably easiest way to get the framerate-counter going.

Steam actually has a framerate counter now in the options that you can turn on.

It's in the settings -- Steam > Settings > In-Game FPS Counter > set options how you see fit.

If you added Origin + SW:BF as Non-Steam games via Steam; and then get on Steam Library to run those Non-Steam shortcuts in order (first boot client, then game). I usually add & run most Non-Steam game-clients + Non-Steam games as such via Steam b/c I like getting the in-game FPS counter + screenshot-taking options going that Steam has.

I'mma go see if this works w/ SW:BF. BRB.

EDIT:

Yep. That worked.
