Wonder if this is a worthwhile upgrade to my 7870 or should I wait for Black Friday
Probably not. The R9 280 is roughly equivalent to the 7950 3GB. I mean, it's better than the 7870 but you'd be better off saving the $140 and adding to it (or waiting on deeper sales) for a real upgrade to a R9 290(X) or GTX 970.

I bought my R9 290X a few months ago for ~$250. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the $200-$220 range this winter. Start saving your pennies now.

Probably not. The R9 280 is roughly equivalent to the 7950 3GB. I mean, it's better than the 7870 but you'd be better off saving the $140 and getting engaged and then asking your fiancee for a R9 290(X) or GTX 970.

I bought my R9 290X a few months ago for ~$250 because I'm already married so all the fun stops. I wouldn't be surprised to see it in the $200-$220 range this winter. Tell your future fiancee to start saving his or her pennies now.
FTFY

Blow $140 on a fancy dinner, ask financee to buy you $250 graphics card.

Sell card for $200, reinvest $140 into another dinner, pocket the $60 remaining, rinse and repeat for infinite money

Tell her that graphics cards are like phone cards and they only come with so many minutes then they are useless. She's a woman, she doesn't know anything about computers or games. If she questions you, ask her if she's ever built her own computer and tell her you don't question her when she's cooking. She will be eternally in love with you.

Hey guys, I posted something in a console thread after reading a bunch of morons talk about flipping and asking stupid questions.

I'll see you in a few months.
It can be hundreds / thousands, actually. And the Steam people go crazy for 3 cent cards, so...

Wow, I guess they give more for box tops than I thought. I might have to go buy 17 copies of DARK now and then spend my afternoon travelling the state for Best Buys so I can buy 20 PSN cards at a discount during Black Friday and resell them during the holidays for even more "free money."

This really should have been a thing sooner, but it's always nice to have a law backing common sense up.

The End now has more games than Bobby, good job!
y u do dis

WTF is this the fiancee bragging thread now?
Yeah, go spoder one already. :bouncy:

Amen. Agreed 100%.

It just makes sense to keep the legacy of old games alive, especially if companies ain't going to re-release them onto the market or do anything w/ them.

Let the game-owners + preservers keep the legacy alive.

I'm just saying, free money is free money. People here also jump through hoops for Russian prices, organize group buys that gains nothing, and waste time on Bing search. Just a different method.

Everything you mention can be done sitting on our asses though. So it's relatively effortless and not that time consuming. Flipping requires driving different places and lots of time.

Not saying it's not worth it or that people don't build up significant credit or get more money/stuff out of it, just requires more effort than most of our lazy asses want to put into it.

I love how those console peasants think its worth it. I bet if they factored in the cost of gas most of the time they are losing money or not making enough to make it worth the effort.

But the console peasants might not be driving beasts like us steam people do.

Football Manager 2016 beta is out today, if you pre-ordered it. Of course GMG, where I think it was the cheapest for the lazy of us (*cough*) doesn't have keys yet for it. Supposedly in contact with SI to get them, so hopefully be up soon so can make posts about the game and (likely shitty) movie, to everyones' excitement  :whistle2:

EDIT:

GMG keys should be up by noon (MST), supposedly.

To recap, if you own Batman: Arkham Knight for PC or purchase it before November 16, 2015, you will get:

  • Free digital copies of games from the Batman: Arkham library.
  • The "Community Challenge Pack” DLC.
  • The Batman: Arkham inspired Team Fortress 2 items created by the Batman: Arkham community.
At least it's something...

Most own all games tho. Arkham Origins isn't even complete version.

Well, I guess it's better than nothing.

[shrug]

Does that mean old Batman games will wind-up as gifts in my Steam Inventory?

I already own Batman AA, AC, and AO with all DLC's there.

I don't have Arkham Origins for some reason. This is an alright promo for Arkham Knight owners in the sense that they can sell those older Batman games. Steamtrades is gonna be flooded soon.

I pass by 3 GameStops, 1 Best Buy, and 3 Targets on my route to work. And it's only a dozen or so miles. A fourth GameStop and a fourth Target by the grocery store I shop at, about 4 miles away.

Even if I go specifically to those stores, it's less than a gallon of gas round trip.

I blew my remaining credit on Rocket League in the VIP deals. Not expecting that to drop in price any time soon.

inb4 humble monthly
Hmm, yeah, that's the only game that tempts me in the VIP deals. I'm also thinking I might just throw what I have left at the Fallout 4 Season Pass, because who doesn't like discounted Bethesda DLC.

Wow at the Batman publishers.

So what happens if we already own the games they're giving out? Guess we're boned. We should at least have an option to choose between the games or the Season Pass.

Edit: Ahahahaha they tagged all the older reviews as "pre-release review". Wow.

I'd rather have the AK Season Pass.

Hopefully, if we get the old Batman games - they show-up as GIFTS in Steam Inventory.

Technically, shouldn't they have it tagged as Pre-ReRelease Review?

Talk of compensation is interesting and all for Arkham Knight but where are the patch notes??? It seems no one can tell if anything was actually fixed except for adding the content to support DLC and a couple of skins. If you are going to mark reviews as pre-release, add patch notes at least...

It's not a patch. It's the 1.0 release v. 2.

I reckon Staples still has the best collection of PC Solitaire games. Have started seeing Steam gift cards everywhere, but it sucks that Steam deals have really gone down in quality. The magic 75% Steam discount on a title released that very year is becoming far less frequent. Have to go to the Gulag or the Favela if you want those kinds of discounts these days.

I have all the other Batman games, including Blackgate, so like a decent amount of people who own Knight, that's pretty much worthless to me.

Even people without Blackgate can probably live without it.

Have they said how much the DLC would cost for people down the line?

I used to pass 5 GameStops and 3 Best Buys on my way to work when I lived an hour and a half away from my job, but I got $31.25 an hour so it worked out well.

It's really none of my business if you enjoy flipping. I personally think adults with that mindset should be into forex and the stock market, and flipping video games like Epic Mickey on a Tuesday with a special coupon is best left to high schoolers who haven't graduated into something more investing/rewarding.

As a thank you to existing owners, that's pretty fuck ing weak.

However, WB has done a nice job at shoveling out a relatively cheap PR piece that can help attract new buyers.

1) It's cheap: a good portion of those buying the third game in the series most likely have one or more of the others.

2) It's PR: it sounds nice in the press.

3) It attracts new buyers: AK has been the subject of many scathing articles in the past several months. This might tempt those that were swayed.

At the very least they should make the freebies giftable.

I don't really flip any more, unless it's really worthwhile. I did it back when I was still a student. Except the 50% coupon bump that left me with $1900 GS credit.

As for stocks, flipping is at least guaranteed, and has no risks associated with it. You won't lose six figures on a bad day or something.

For Windows 10 users, we’ve found that having at least 12GB of system RAM on a PC allows the game to operate without paging and provides a smoother gameplay experience.
Better get to upgrading that RAM if you want to beat the Arkham Knight.
